One of my favorite watches in my collection. You touched on two of my minor complaints: The hands and the movement. I’m tired of seeing Mercedes hands everywhere more than seeing NH35/36 movements everywhere. I’ll be opening mine up and swapping out the hands for old radium-lumed pencil hands and putting in an NH-38. While that’s now a move I’d recommend for everyone, it’s also not a reason NOT to buy. Meaning: buy this watch. The size is great, the look is great, and it pairs with so many straps. I’ve put it on the OG Bond for a “Diamonds Are Forever” look and was pleased. But I keep coming back to the bracelet. I have nothing else like it and it’s great. Wonderful review. I would like to see your take on the GMT.

Great review! I'd love to see a review of the GMT version. Ok, I recently received the 'Leather' dialed version of this watch. Although I love it, it came out of the box with a terribly gritty crown action (YN55 mov't.). Also, the bracelet, while absolutely stunning, is virtually impossible to size without a third hand to use (or without damaging it)...oh, and it will pull some hairs if you have them. I'd rather see this watch with the no-cost option of an oyster style bracelet, such as is on the SN006. And oh yeah, might as well add add snowflake hands, silver-applied indices/bezel with BGW9 lume on the dial. Oh, yeah, that'd be a winner!

One of these is on its way to me right now. Quick note about the bracelet, this new version has a better (or at least different) endlink; the V1 endlink had an odd ridge in the middle, this V2 has a nice round midsection. Iirc the very earliest V1 bracelets also had only the out-poking "rivet style" screws, even on the last bit, unlike the flush screws used now; that's what really f-ed up the microadjusts.

@@RaphaelRousseau the main factor here, as I see it, is the price of the movement - NH35 costs around 30-35$, while PT5000 is almost twice that. The size is great. I distance myself from the now-a-go-go modern 42-44mm dazzlers. Just give me the goddamned time.

Nice watch. Great review. Just a shame it doesn’t have pierced lugs, after all it is supposed to be retro.

They usually do a great job, so in this case I'm thinking it's the choice of the Old Radium. It doesn't have quite the staying power of the normal C3 paint.

As far as the brand and there quality and price there a no Brainer . I'm looking for a Captain Willard homage and out of all the choices in this jonera think there the best and worth the few extra dollars over some of the other homages.

Why the seconds pip is so big and out of proportions? The logo font is ridiculous - just saying. ;)
@RelativeTime3 жыл бұрын
MIght be wrong on this, but I think the second hand is in keeping with the original subs. Modern ones seem to have shrunken the lumed lollipop, but the old school ones look like it's about the same size as one of the hour indicators. www.esquire.com/style/mens-accessories/g34645853/bobs-watches-iconic-hollywood-auction/

@@RelativeTime You are right, there are some vintage rolex with a massive and disproportionated seconds pip, probably they must have thought that understanding at a glance that the watch is still running must have been important for divers. Nonetheless, aesthetically it is a flaw - that is why probably this feature was very short lived. In a watch equipped with a movement that can deviates between +45 / -35 seconds per day... probably is as important to keep track of where the seconds hand is ;)

Estimado, lo felicito por la forma elegante que tiene para realizar las reseñas. En cuanto al reloj hay un detalle que deberían corregir en el dial en la indicación de 200 m que es el signo = que tendría que ir a la altura de la m. Saludos👍

I was thinking: "Hmm yet another Chinesium watch." But San Martin seems to be mostly ok compared to others.. now if they make one like the Invicta 1953 with a better bracelet, sapphire and ceramic bezel insert, I'd be game!

Not a fan of the submariner design(hate mercades hands, swords or snowflakes would be so much better) , & 38mm is too small for me. Do wish more divers didn't have a date, & like the colourscheme tho. Cheers mate 👍🏻

This seems to be pretty much a BB58 rip off. Even down to the bracelet which is often the most negative point of the 58.
@RelativeTime4 жыл бұрын
Well it's more an homage to the first subs of the late 50s. Which in a lot of ways is what the BB58 is too.

I wish it wasn't fauxtina, or the propriety ceramic bezel insert that's really an insult to the original and is out of place on this, plus no pierced lugs, that alone would have been better than the stupid features?
