You’re very smart to have setup a special niche to create and show off your supplies! I tried to do this in my basement, and although it looked nice and was practical for supply storage, the lack of warmth and light wasn’t suitable to create. It’s still wonderful to have everything stored in one place for easy retrieval.

I find it also difficult to be tidy and have a good setup of my studio space.. As artists, we have a lot of art supplies/tools and we don't even use them all. However, it's nice to be able to see all of them when we are in our studio because they might give us new ideas or inspiration. I think something useful that @AshleighKing does is that she tidies and re-arranges her space, she changes it once in a while. By tidying we notice stuff we might forgot we had and re-arranging help us make a better use of our studio.

Love the video! Art supplies are my big weakness. When I was a kid, the first place I'd head in a store was the toy department. Now, it's the arts and craft section. Michael's, Hobby-Lobby, Walmart, 5 Below, Dollar Tree, no matter what store I go into, chances are, I walk out with an arm full of art supplies. It's an obsession, I just LOVE buying and trying new art supplies. But hey, art can be hard, we have to get our joys somewhere, right? 😎HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Ruth, Ashleigh's studio is just a corner off another room - we only ever see two walls - the window wall and the easel wall - because behind her is an arch, not a wall, and the bamboo storage is in a corner to the right of that arch. A large number of ArtTubers don't have their own space. For quite a few, it's their kitchen table, or the corner of their sitting room or bedroom. They are just very clever at keeping the camera angle exactly where it needs to be so that we don't intrude on the rest of the family. For year, my studio was our dining room, and I had to clear away completely, as we used that table all the time. Having my own room as part of my own home, no longer shared with someone else, hasn't made my art life any better. In some ways, it's made it more difficult! Because I don't have to put things away immediately, it often means my workspace becomes a messy place to be. Oh, and it's also a bigger space to have to clean up! So there's for and against this question, and I'd say, "Remember that Ashleigh creates her beautiful art in a very small space, and most of what she is using is student quality, because it's all they can afford, and because of that, she makes it work for herself." It may help you, and others, to be able to do the same and to discover that these limitations can make us a lot more inventive and creative because we don't have lots of art supplies to choose from, too much space to be truly comfortable in ... A separate studio can also very soon become a very lonely, isolated space, away from the warmth of family life. Ruth, I hope this helps you a bit to be able to deal with that problem that we all face - that it's difficult to quiet that "I wish" thing in our heads, and to be satisfied to make the very best of what we have. 😊
