As for chevrolets, GM is the only monopolist vehicle producer in Uzb, with a huge custom taxes for imported cars. People hate GM cars, as they are expensive and average quality, but there is no other choice as the market is controled by a monopolist.

How would you rate the Stan countries in terms of religiously conservative?

I'm not really sure you mean, but out of the 3 Stans I visited on my latest trip, KAZ is the least religious, KYG is in between and UZB in the most. But all are quite open - for instance, it was Ramadan when we visited and alcohol was freely available, all restaurants and cafes were open. Id I had not been aware of Ramadan, I would not have even noticed.

cessnagbdso Did you see many women in the veil? I’m curious how religious these places are, compared to, Turkey for example.

In Almaty, hardly any veiled women. In Bishkek, a few and in Tashkent, quite a lot. To put this into perspective, Almaty was like a city in Eastern Europe whereas Tashkent was more like Istanbul. @@RovexHD
