Kris always felt so humble and grateful to have the chance to share the stage with 3 of his heroes. The Highwaymen are sometimes called the Mount Rushmore of Country, and in spite of his humility, Kris completely earned his place on that Mountain. I think most will agree that of the 4 superstars, Kris was the most talented songwriter, having many hits of his own and even more recorded by a wide range of other country stars. Thank you Kris for all the music. You are loved and will be missed. 💔😪

In 1963 I was living in Toronto and deep into culture shock and depression. A stroll along Lakeshore Boulevard one day listening to my little a.m. radio when Kris’s hit son came on. The first time ever I heard it. The line……”the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken and it took me back to something I lost somewhere somehow along the way”. What a shock! That phrase changed my life then and there. I shortly after returned to the life I knew and loved. Thank you Kris.
