Definitely loving the Mysteries and Oddities episodes there Mr. Dactyl!! This channel is so underrated brother. Another solid gold classic once again! Always fun and educational and particularly interesting to see these anomalies and specialties, especially for me being in the lawn industry. I started weedeating at age 7 to earn my $5 weekly allowance my folks. We had an ol corded weedeater brand electric unit. Now I'm 32 and have a small time full yard care gig that I run mainly solo. This stuff never gets old to me and you help me to grow my enthusiasm and understanding especially in regards to the mechanical and maintenance side of things! Your channel is by far my all time favorite sir!! I can't tell you how much I've learned and laughed from your absolute HBO grade bids!! And thanks to you and my Dad's help from time to time, I can honestly say that we never have had to take any of our small engines in to a shop for work and never should have to either!! That is a priceless and words can't describe the sense of pride and self sufficiency they you have helped us grassrats to achieve! Much love and Respect Taryl, from your long time big fan and subscriber. From the Oregon coast sending you seasons greetings, may you and yours have a Happy and safe rest of your Summer and beyond! Blessings and keep up the great work good buddy!

I actually did figure what you said but did not believe that the cylinder and piston had that kind of room to pull the valve in that far in that was an awesome find great video

We LOVE lawnmower mysteries and oddities!! I didnt think the stroke was long enough for the whole valve to drop out and fit in that piston chamber area before the piston returns on the upstroke... Wow man, just wow!

That's what's called dropping a valve. In a racing mower that's happened to me. High rpm and valve float ,not enough spring tension, drops the keepers and then a lot of bad noises. In a stock engine that's pretty impressive. Keep the oddities coming in. Thanks Taryl.
@robertsmith29563 ай бұрын
To bad he doesn't have the turbo and blower for that mower.
@irvinslagter82983 ай бұрын
You had a show on the twin cylinder engine that would get hot and the valve guide would come out and knock the rocker arm off, and bend the push rod. I have one of those. In B&S's defense, the one I have never would have given trouble if the owner would have kept the fins clean. I was packed with dirt and grass and no air could get through, hence a very hot head let the valve guide go.

That's wild man.... I've seen plenty of engines that floated a valve..but when that happens, Usually the combustion chamber(head,seat,piston face,and of course,the valve) take the brunt of the damage..never..NEVER,in 35+ years of repair,have I ever seen one push the valve stem physically through the casting of the head...and so cleanly at that.. gives the term "perfect timing" a whole new meaning.😂...I honestly can't believe the valve didn't shatter and really didn't bend the stem that much, considering how fast of a strike it took..Wish you would have shown us the block it came off of......But,keep these videos coming.. they're pretty cool...

I wonder if the worn/displaced valve guide allowed the rocker arm to push on the side if the spring cap. That might allow one of the keepers to move a little sideways. I'm any case, this is one of the coolest mysteries I have seen. And it definitely deserves a place in the museum. Cheers from Canada.
