That is one gorgeous knife. I've heard that style of spay blade called a "Texas Spay" I think you could say that knife is "Trapper Perfection" The attention to detail is second to none. You are paying for craftsmanship and quality parts. Even the nail pulls look perfect. They don't look like an after thought or last minute necessity for function. They look like a work of art. That's the difference between an individually fashioned and built by hand by an artisan and a factory piece.

It’s one of those pieces that seems ridiculous on paper, but when you hold it in your hand, it all makes sense. You can feel that it’s (almost) worth every penny, but it’s also itching to be used.

That Spey's belly verges on a Cotton Sampler! It's a gorgeous knife - yes I'd pocket a knife like this in a heartbeat. Re the steel liners, I now specify steel as opposed to brass with Stag having experienced the unsightly brass bleed (i.e.Verdigris) which all too often develops with brass liners/pins (are you listening GEC?) - not something most would want on a £1600 knife. I like a Trapper - either a full size Case Trapper or a GEC Scout Trapper. Although we're not doing much speying of livestock in our daily lives, they still make a practical outdoor knife. I use the Clip blade for general tasks (and cleaning fish if I'm fishing), while the Spey is for food (there is no better cheese knife!) and is hygenically kept separate by the central liner. Fantastic you were able to show us this incredible piece Eric - much enjoyed.

I’m very traditional and like the natural ‘lubrication’ of brass liners that really removes the need for washers. I only have one full-sized Trapper, A Case in blue jigged bone with a red shield, and it’s one of my most used knives. It’s perfect for cutting up my daily apple!

What a beautiful knife! Way to expensive for me but if I could afford to have one as a usuer I would rather use money on this than a wrist watch.👍 Thank you for sharing!👊🏻

Of course, if you're totting up, you can always include the cost of going and getting the knife yourself. Congrats to the owner for EDC'ing it. It would be an insult not to. And to HH for snagging it and bringing it back to blighty.

The a of time effort and skill that goes in to making any object goes up exponentially as one tries to improve and strive towards perfection. I watch Sandy Jack Jacklore Knives and see just how much effort he puts into every knife he makes. Given his ridiculously low prices, he can’t even be paying himself minimum wage! I don’t begrudge anyone fair pay for his labour. This money was earned!

Nice mate I was gonna pulled the trigger on a Dunlap wharncliffe trapper from HH recently but it was out of stock. My boy said it’s back in stock now, but haven’t checked.

This was a wonderful knife, but the price is eye watering! If you can get past that, then this would make an ideal EDC that would easily last a lifetime!
