I have a quick question. I have a similar build, just a small V6. I don't have the ability to 3D print the components to have it turn over. Would you maybe be willing to make those components similar to what you made here? I'm more than willing to pay you for them. If you don't have the time or am uninterested in it. No biggie, I won't be mad at you. For whatever that's worth. I'm in no rush for this. I have some other projects that are more pressing atm. Just figured I'd ask. But outstanding work Sir!! Through the time I've been watching your channel. I've been very impressed with the items you've designed and made. Some of it definitely over my head for sure.

I don't know how I missed this one. It's funny but I agree re: wood being calming and so forth. Working with (And having décor, etc.) of items that were living things, seems so much more peaceful than the cold, sharp metal furniture that seems to be the rage right now. But I say it's funny because 90% of the time we're bathing in grease, oil, brake cleaner and our loofa is the milling machine and lathe chips.
@phenomanII

I have to agree with you when it comes to oak and woodwork in general. I made a unique but very simple tobacco pipe for myself and I swear making it was more relaxing than smoking. Even though I don't have a drill bit larger than 1/2" and needed a cylindrical hole about 3/4" wide. Ended up improvising with a rotary tool and burning through the oak was better than any incense I've ever smelled.

I’m a woodworker/ carpenter, computer nerd, and very amateur gear head… one idea I’ve always had is building a computer out of a short block (or at least a 3d printed short block). Have the radiator and fans mounted as a “head”, and a “false” turbo that would actually be an inlet for cooling rather than exhaust.

Man an 8 quarter slab of white oak probably cost a fortune in Arizona. Especially if it was graded. When you talk about the calming effect of nature and working with wood, I don't think you could have found a more appropriate soundtrack than Paul Simon. Even at his most energetic,his voice has always soothed me. My parents very much loved Simon and Garfunkel and I remember discovering their records and finding out the songs that I had heard as a very little one. Anyways. Very nice work, sir.

Gotta love these modern "lightweight" engines. I had a friend who had a Jaguar V12 short block sitting in his garage because, well, why not? "Hey, while you're here can you help me move this thing?" Turned out the answer was "No!", the two of us were unable to lift it off the wood blocks, and he didn't have an engine hoist. Makes me wonder, how the hell did he get it in there?

@jsquared1013

@@chuckp8705 something on the order of 650 lbs 😯 it still baffles me how it's that heavy with an aluminum block. The 4-valve M-B V12 is also similar weight, this 3-valve V12 was designed with lighter weight as a target and is thus closer to 500 lbs. From what I've gathered via the internet, anyway. The BMW M70 V12 was marginally lighter than the Jag and M-B 4-valve at around 600 lbs.

Always loved this concept even before the Top Gear table in the Star in a Reaonably Priced Car segments. I'd love to own this and I'll probably make a bid but I know I won't be able to afford the stratospheric price this should command. This creation belongs in a museum. Someday I'll make an airplane-shaped windsock that rotates on a base made from an old radial engine core.

We kept finding we needed a folding table. This is so easy to store. kzbin.infoUgkxStL0QRChBju4aQlnTrRgBZvafFog0KU3 Opening and closing is easy as well. It has a great handle for carrying around the house. Its pretty lightweight and slides around easy. We bought it for our daughter’s first sleepover. Breakfast was a blur - but 12 7-8 year olds fit at the table with room to spare. We used it at thanksgiving and 6 adults fit comfortably on each side plus 2 on either end for a total of 8. Super easy to clean up afterwards as well.

Topping Top Gear? Sweet! Any thoughts on addressing the bearings/rings not getting oil? obviously rpm and environment indoors is pretty tame compared to driving with explosions, but open exposure to dust, humidity, and dry bearings will still cause some issues eventually. Maybe the "running life" before those things would cause any significant frictional drags is in the 10s of hours as is? Imho plenty. Mainly just curious if you plugged the oiling holes so bearings would retain some 'fingered' oil when assembling. I'm thinking of doing something similar 🏍 for a client. You're the man! Thanks!!
@WesleyKagan

The Crank is on standard roller bearings, so that should be okay- pistons are now on the crank and I don’t really have a way to solve that outside of printing a connecting rod- I’ve had it running for a few days with no issues, but if it becomes a problem I’ll print some connecting rods with roller bearings!

Disappointed you didn't go more into the technical aspect. Would have liked to see you putting the Pistons in, probably without Rings to make easier to rotate. You didn't even mention this. What about lubrication? It's not a running engine wondering if you gave it any thought? Teflon bearings? Perhaps dry graphite lubrication? Would have liked to hear it running. curious how much noise it makes. Maybe not a lot but it's in a living room. Wonder if it's something you wouldn't mind keeping running like a fish tank pump. Would have been nice to see more of it running as opposed to only 10 seconds. Oh well still nice work!
