FYI: In the previous flashback with Toya playing with the siblings, his hair was suppose to be white there (anime different compared to manga to have it red in the anime, as it was unshaded to be white in the manga for those scenes). this episode was a very emotional and enjoyable episode for me but there's a lot of controversy on it, mostly among manga readers. this episode has a little too much flashbacks and it only adapted a total of 1 chapter which is pretty bad, pacing wise. Even as a manga reader, i still had a good time. kind of worried that they won't do the next arc justice but we'll see what happens in the future!

Another thing, dabi pronounced only two names in the anime(I didn't read the manga), the first in the beginning of season 3 and the second in the beginning of season 5, it was "todoroki shoto" and "todoroki enji"(endeavor). It's difficult for a lot of people to forgive Endeavor because of the family abuse, but it's important to note that his anger was driven by a maniacal obsession. He doesn't appear to have many of the negative personality traits of "abusers," but instead lost his mind a bit. Once All Might retired it's like the cloud obscuring his mind and his heart was cleared, and because his actual personality is decent, he realizes the harm he's left in his wake and is trying to make amends. He's such a well written character, and I think they do the arc justice by showing reconciliation and forgiveness as a slow and painful process. You don't get to just wake up one day and try to be another person. You really have to work at it. And even then, some may not be able to forgive you.

*To all people who are trying to understand/explain Toya Todorokis hair color and the mistake that was made within the flashback.* Here, I'll do my best to avoid spoilers, but this has been mentioned in the manga; Toya Todoroki, Endeavours and Reis oldest son, the older brother of Fuyumi, Natsuo and Shoto Todoroki. Toya was born with his fathers red hair, but as time went by his hair started turning white. By the time of Shotos birth his hair had fully turned white. The mistake made in the anime was that in the flashback Toyas hair was supposed to be white, since Shoto was already 5 years old, and as I earlier stated, Toyas hair had turned white by the time Shoto was born. Toya inherited his fathers fire power, and Endeavour himself admitted that Toyas flames were stronger than his own, but Toyas did not inheritate the same level of resistance towards his own flames.

I'm sorry, but I don't like how people always talk about manga I know anime is based on that manga so I know people are disappointed that they don't keep with all those details, but personally, I don't mind that When people are making something into movie release or episode series, they always tend to miss something or rewrite the story to fit well with the movie or series And yes, book was always better, if not always, it was mostly book which was more enjoyable because of this, and I personally don't think this is a bad thing (That doesn't mean I like season 5 so far, it's just I don't think this is THAT terrible) I enjoy watching this anime as a whole And manga readers keep saying "Oh but in manga-" and all that is making me enjoy less Whenever I enjoy certain episode of this anime, manga readers keep saying "They messed up, they should've done this instead" is really making me tired Let people enjoy things

Man, I really liked this episode. I feel the worst for Endeavor, as whenever a person is shunned by their family and never given much of a chance, they simply don't know how to make amends. Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 exemplifies what all people should be like: an open mind that is willing to forgive and convert. It matters not the sin, for Jesus took every sin upon the cross with him. He died for your sins, so never think that there is a sin he didn't account for, no matter how disgusting or terrible, no matter your circumstances or feelings. All can be forgiven, but we as humans are our own enemy in that field.

The only issue I have, Logically with this arc is that the story doesn't do a good job at letting us know what has the mom so on edge. The one "hit" we see occurs after she grabbed on to Endeavor and it looked as if he was trying to push her off, it didn't seem like it was an intentional hit and the story doesn't really suggest that endeavor was just beating her. If the only event that physically occurred was the accident then that's not enough to push someone over the edge, even the stuff that occurs later isn't really Endeavors fault. The bad things endeavor did was push his kid too far and isolate that kid, at least that's all I see so far, unless the story actually tells me what made Rei so unstable.

Idk if you read the manga, but A LOT of things happened starting with the Toya situation. It all spirals downward for the whole family, especially for Rei and Endeavor. It only gets worse once Shoto is born. That is all I will say because of spoilers. Anime onlys will get the whole picture eventually.

Toya born with red hair and eventually, his red color slowly disappears & turn into white instead as he grew older. What we've seen in the flashback is the very young kid Toya. While the photo on the altar shown that Toya hair has completely turn into all white, meaning that he's a grown up enough (almost a teenager) when he died.

Tbh I am not a manga reader but I am pretty sure Toya had the ability to use ice and fire just like todoroki. The only difference would be that when Toya wants to use fire powers his hair turns red and when he wants to use ice powers his hair turns white that why endeavor was traing him before todoroki.
