So apparently I screwed up the editing on this one and there’s music in the background for the first half of this. I’m not smart enough nor motivated enough to fix it so you’ll just have to bear with it. The original footage is long gone so there’s no way I can easily fix that problem.

Hey Ross I just happened to see the school bus in the background. I know you do that as extra income. God bless you for being able to put up with those kids. You should take us along with you on one of your routes. If you don't want to film the kids that's ok. Take us along when your driving empty. I think it would be interesting and spark some memories for some viewers.

Andy here If you take the drive chain off of that Oliver rake that would make pulling it down the road not a problem, even if the gear box is in gear without a load on it would just be spinning. I like your Allis planter parts.

I know money doesn't grow on trees but if you'd peel the used car tires off of those rakes and put traction tires on like from factory they won't skid and they'll work perfectly.

The time change off of daylight savings kills me. My sheep are on pasture until the snow is to deep or shearing time before lambing so i only get to really see them under tractor light or my head lamp for the next five months. Most everything else is done inthe dark too because I work off the farm during the day. I leave for work in the dark and get home after dark and that sucks the life out of me.

OK, I'm glad to see I'm not the only fella with bad luck using 6 volt batteries. I remember them lasting at least 5 years, now 2? I forget to take back for a minimal credit during the 5 minute warrantee so I get to pay full price when replacing. I might try an Interstate....I don't know....Johnson controls probably makes all of them now. Also, I should do my own tire repair today- nope, I think I'll watch the mighty whitey video again, watching you do a tire repair! 🤣🤣

Wheel rakes are extremely nice for Clover and Alfalfa. Bar rakes, more for Timothy, Brome hay. I had an old NH 850 chain baler, actually liked it with the exception of how expensive that apron chain is. Once I changed mine out, it ran a lot smoother and quieter. To be honest, the belt balers are far superior to the chains. On those rakes, I had 2 left hand side delivery rakes, 1 JD the other was a NH Super 55. Both were 5 bar rakes. Used the cheapest teeth available, (TSC). Yea, rubber based and if you didn't set the rakes just right... yea, they'd snap off and the next thing you knew, front tire on the baler tractor picked it up, the joy of sadness. LOL I traded both that JD and NH rake for a big wheel rake, I'll tell you this, once you go with one, you'll never want a bar rake again. They work quite well for all grasses, just more gentle on the more finer grasses, such as Clover and Alfalfa where you need the leaves to stay on. I really miss my farming days, health issues but, getting better each day. Ross, when I fed my livestock, specially at night, I'd feed them range cubes first, then the bales, made life easier. Great video as always. Cheers :)

Just think, instead of being a farmer who does not know what a time clock is, other than the seasonal one, you could be living as a city slicker, working at a temperature-controlled factory, doing some specialized job making $90 an hour making $3,600 a week with 2 weeks paid vacation ($187,200 a year before taxes). Or you could buy yourself a job with the State of Indiana and make good money for not having to work hard. One of those highway jobs where you just lean on a shovel with 4 others looking at something on the ground. You would have so much free time that you would go nuts. Having 40 head of cattle would be a part-time thing as you would buy your hay, pay for a vet to do all of those dirty jobs, and only have to have one new tractor with a loader and a cab to put those bales out every couple of days. You could be driving a new dually pickup and have a big 5th-wheel camper, go camping, and take Buddy with you. You would have women dripping off you simply because Buddy is a real babe magnet.

Yeah , my 1206 and 806 use those narrow 6V batteries as well. They only last a year or two. The Deere 4850 uses a shorter pair of 6V, and they do no better. I wonder if I could just put a pair of 12 V batteries in parallel instead and get better results? Lately I just use one large 12V on the 1206 now and it's ugly but works! One tractor that you have , caught my eye. What is the old tractor in the shed in front of where the loader was sitting? Looks interesting. I guess that like you, we have too many things out in the weather, never have enough storage sheds. Taxes here are really high, so we couldn't afford to build much storage.

Hello Again Ross Instead of using 3EH batteries you could go to 3ET batteries. They are the same exact dimensions and the 3EH 6 volt batteries, but are 12 volt. John Deere used them in the sixties on there diesel tractors. John Deeres of the time had a 24 volt charging and starting system, but still used 12 volt lights and other dash board components. It was a crap setup. Unless all the connections where perfect, the charging system was prone to boiling out the acid on one battery and killing the other. Later JD offered conversion kits to ditch the 24 volt starter and generator in favor of a 12 volt starter, alternator and some wiring components. In either case, with some strategic battery cable maneuvers, two long skinny 12 volt batteries would fit just wonderfully in those large frame 55 series olivers you have. Have a good day Andy

I was wondering about the music, it's not too distracting. Are those 6 volt batteries 3ehs? I have 3 sets of them on different IH's. I'll check what brand they are they have been excellent. You just have too many toys, and those Fiats were so distracting from the Charles City tractors... not that they weren't interesting. Oh I did make the deal on that 5400 plant aire, and now maybe a 508 4x16 plow too.
@rosstheoliverman

Hey Ross. If you wanted to ditch the 3EH batteries you could go to 3ET batteries. They are identical in size and post placement, only they are 12v. John’s Dear used them in the 60’s on there diesel tractors. They were 24 volt. Fabulous idea, I wonder why most of them got converted to 12v style like dear themselves did in the early seventies? Strange??
