Hi. Im from Madrid and i just read some of ur opinions about how is the life in the little pueblos of Spain. Is funny cause sometimes we need people from abroad to apreciate our little villages and their way of life. I just to do explain how cool is Madrid to foreign people but in fact, every place could be awesome according to their stories and history. Thank you.

Brichetercero life in a village of Spain is definitely very different than in Madrid. I'm moving to Madrid in Spain, and excited to know what life will be like there! One thing is for sure- I certainly will the "hola's" from these guys ;)

Casie Tennin Sadly Madrid is not like a village like that. I also live in a village and you will greet all the people you see on the street and they will greet you back. Once I was in a park with some candies and a old man which was walking near me said: Hey, you're eating good stuff in there, I answered back and he kept walking. On Madrid on the other hand, it is much more like your NYC. No one will look at you and much less, say hello. I tried to say "hola" once or twice and I never got response. Once I gave my seat on the metro to an old man and he said: Thanks, that is is not something you see in here normally. Said that, I really enjoyed your article and it is very accurate indeed.

Try this in a Portuguese village. Most are just staring at you and saying nothing. I suspect those that are known thieves are just looking at you as a potential victim. When I say Ol'a, they say nothing in return and that is quite painful.
