Please find out if there is a way to prevent tooth damage from vomiting and make a video about it. I've had Crohn's for 41 years; 5 resections and many other procedures. No doctor or dentist told or warned me back when about this problem and by my 30's, despite rigorous care, my teeth started breaking apart. Brushing even immediately after was not enough. It's similar to what happens to certain bulimic's teeth where the primary problem is the enamel being stripped. You are young enough, with a beautiful smile, to hopefully avoid this problem that I still don't find addressed in gastroenterology. Keep being strong and thank you for your advocacy!

Hi Maggie, I’m so glad to hear you’re talking about Panic Attacks, when my grown daughter started having them we were so confused and concerned how to get the correct help and find a treatment that worked for her. Took a few try’s with different medications but finally found what worked for her. Be patient with yourself and know you are not alone. Please keep sharing on this topic too if you can, you have a wonderful communication style truly helps. 💗

Glad your surgical recovery is going well. Re: anxiety/panic attacks - fellow suffer here. For me they came out of no where. I had no unusual stressors happening in my life. I literally thought I was having a heart attack or something. Primary care did work up and found nothing wrong. Ended up in ER after having one in public in downtown Chicago (no too embarrassing). ER gave me thorough cardiac work up - nope not having a heart attack or anything they could find. I finally mentioned what I was experiencing to a friend who was a psychiatric nurse. She said it sounded like a panic attack. Went back to my primary and he gave me a prescription for Xanax (as needed use). Worked like a charm when I next had an attack come on. Just knowing I what was happening to me allowed me, and that I had something to help me was such a relief, I didn't need to take the meds often. That was 20 years ago. I still keep up a few pills with me just in case, but they are more of a talisman now than anything. After being diagnosed with Celiac Disease and being gluten free, I discovered my panic attacks have essentially disappeared. I haven't had one in the 6 years since being gluten free. I later learned panic/anxiety attacks can be one of the 200+ symptoms of Celiac Disease. I am not suggesting at all that this is your situation, only my experience. But I know how debilitating and frustrating the attacks can be.

You look terrific! Your dad went through a lot. Seeing your kid sick is worse than when it's us. Even minor stuff with my kids, my husband would be my rock. He died, now doing it alone...it's hard. If the issues like you endired and I was the parent alone, I would struggle. He was allowed to lose it a few times when you were upset, gasping for breath!

I am so happy you’re feeling better. I used to always have a sinus infection…I literally never didn’t have one. I had a septoplasty and turbinectomy about 10 years ago and have not had a sinus infection since! Amazing 🥰. Keep feeling better 💕💕💕

You're definitely not alone with anxiety Maggie. I had my first panic attack at age 13. It seemed to calm a bit, and stirred back up before my wedding in my early 20's. I turned 45 in May. I understand, and anxiety is real, obviously, not dramatic. I thought the same as I got older, until I somewhat learned how to calm myself. I eventually started Zoloft, and went from 25mg to 100mg over a span of about 20 years. It has helped somewhat. I did have to up my dose to 150mg about 3 years ago. I hope it continues to help you as well. Anxiety/panic attacks are absolutely unpleasant. ❤️

Sedation dentistry is great. Sometimes nitrous is a good compromise between just novocain and complete sedation, since nitrous provides some analgesia as well as dissociation.

Thank you for sharing your journey with zoloft and buspar! I never hear about other people taking buspar like I do. SSRI's don't agree with me, so I've been on buspar for years now. I also would get lightheaded at higher doses, so I've stayed on 5 mg twice a day. When I'm consistent with it, it really makes a difference for me. I hope they help you too.

So glad things have taken a bit of a turn for you. Just a couple comments... My mother used to experience episodes and we all would say "Just don't think about it", what ever IT, happened to be. Prior to my colectomy surgery every day the anxiety was so bad that i didn't want to go any where, and when my husband would try to keep my mind occupied little did he know how much worse he made things. Meds didn't help. Since the surgery, I'm a new woman. And, with regards to dentist, sounds like we are in the same boat. I can get my teeth cleaned, but if any work needs to be done, it's just two little pills. Amazing how you can't even remember the ride home! Costs a few hundred bucks more but, well worth it. Hope you're enjoying a wonderful Easter holiday.

So proud of you for sharing, and it's so nice to see you feeling better. I hope you will be feeling less anxious at well. There's absolutely no shame, nothing wrong with needing medication and taking it. We obviously only see only a part of your life on KZbin, but maybe seeing a therapist could help too. I struggle with depression, anxiety, panic attacks and it has been so helpful to work through things, even trauma using EMDR. You've been through so much medically esp. so young. Sending love and prayers for continued recovery!

i have the same with teeth! i dont like anything done with them. i too often feel everything. And like you have a youtube channel for ibd and try to help people we have an oral surgeon in germany who has a german channel about teeth and implantology and actually we went to him and it made a whole world of a difference with someone who is competent AND empathetic. he explaines the phenomenon as well why some people feel still things but there are methods for that too! Yes, if you need to get drugged up during procedure, its better that you do it and not have a panic attack or avoid it completely. i will go to my first cleaning session soon and i AM AFRAID but i told my dentist (not the cool guy he is too far away for minor things) and she said she will be gentle. it is worth finding a dentist that listens even though it takes time i went to soo many before. there are so many anxious patients! you are not alone with this!

Maggie thank you for sharing! I don't know if you'll see this - but I was listening to you talk about the feeling of not being able to breathe (panic attack type feeling). I have celiac disease and I used to get these episodes right before I was diagnosed celiac, and my own theory is that - because I am small, like you are - when my gut was "inflamed" I think things were pushing up on my lungs. I had another episode just like that when I was inadvertently exposed to gluten for a few weeks. I think there is something to being small and not having a lot of room for the gut to expand, it expands up.... this is only my personal theory, as a nurse you probably have a better idea as to whether that makes sense physiologically. :)

Hi Maggie, I would talk to your doctor about maybe a therapy referral. What you described sounds a lot like panic disorder. I also take Buspar for panic disorder and I would recommend to titrate up because the effects can hit too heavily if you just take the full dose right away. I would also recommend to take it before bed and not in the morning because it can make you VERY tired.

Hello Maggie, I am so pleased that you are doing well. Having to breathe through your mouth instead of your nose is guaranteed to make you feel awful so it's no surprise that you are doing better now. There is a lot of information on KZbin about how to optimize nasal breathing if you are interested. Btw when I was in my mid twenties I discovered I had an infection on a molar that hadn't erupted from my gum and I was treated in hospital under a general anaesthetic. Two years ago I was having root canal treatment when my dentist found some surgical gauze that had remained in place since the operation, thirty seven years earlier! Moral of the story, make sure your surgeon removes all the packing lol.

My ENT actually had me do functional endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, adenoidectomy, and tonsillectomy at the same time at age 28, and it was horribly painful for at least 3 weeks. I had to use this forceful medicated rinse for about 3 months, several in office sinus cleanings...it was awful. I have a severe chronic illness and chronic nerve pain disorder, but the sinus surgery was generally the worst surgical recovery.

But you are talking about pills all the time, have your doctors even suggested therapy? For me it's anything to do with the eyes (which sucks because I have a lot of eye and vision issues, maybe that's why) and vomit. Anything else I'm totally fine with. Just a head's up, if you start having trouble sleeping, the Zoloft is known for causing either drowsiness or insomnia depending on the person and also night sweats.
