Anyone feel that when they went to university, studied literature found they had a hard time finishing books from the syllabi but now go back to those same books and find them great? Uni’s effect on book lovers is surreal and disheartening sometimes.

“Idaho” by Emily Ruskovich is a beautifully written, sad and sweet story of memory and loss. The general plot is about a man who has early onset dementia, and his now second wife is trying to piece together things from his family and past, because he has lost 2 of his children. I can’t express enough how moving this book is! 💕

As per your review of the Girls! because it says so nowhere in or on the book Lol... to Nina or any subscribers who read this... The Girls is actually not *entirely* a work of fiction. Once I realized that it was actually based on the true life stories of women involved in the cult begun by Charles Manson and their recounts of their lives I became much more invested! I thought it was a really interesting way to try to imagine the perspective of these real life women, a complex story to try to understand, even if not entirely based on truth. The research part after I finished the book was especially interesting to me after having read such a story.

Love these videos! A few questions: What position do you usually read in? I find that I'm always restless. I love reading in a goal oriented fashion, but I sometimes find that it makes me less present as I read quickly. Do you experience this? What do you recommend?
@marykelly64494 жыл бұрын
Hi Nina! The Girls is a fictionalisation of the Manson murders. I found out after reading which made the ending a lot clearer!

The Girls is one of my all time favourite books. It is one of those books that depict adolescents as a girl perfectly, realistically and in all its complexity. The setting of the cult represents a fitting backdrop to tell Evie's story and I love how the novel focuses on the girls, i.e. female friendships, relationships etc., rather than e.g. focusing on Russell (based on Charles Manson) as the cult leader. I have read this novel several times and I even taught it in a literary class last semester and all of my students connected with it significantly. This is the book I always recommend to people so I thought I would do the same in the comment section here. Even if you're not into narratives about cults, I assure you you can still enjoy this book. P.S.: Please read this in summer because the heat transfers from the page and really captures the reader.

Could you maybe make a video about the influence of social media on our eating schedule/habits? Like the bad ones. Not inspiring ones like your videos. I mean the ones which makes us feel that we should be afraid of gluten, fats/oil, snacking all of that. And your opinion or maybe experiences about that. Maybe you have tips how to deal or get over these distracting feelings. All paired with a what I eat in a day on a healthy intuitive creative diet or something like that 🌞🌼 I've been following you for a while now and I noticed (maybe it is not true but that is how it seems to me) that you are also way more like "free" in the kitchen when you cook. I know that you are struggling with Ibs so that might be one reason why you avoided some foods in the past but for example you also had a long time (the old videos) where you haven't been eating oil and smoothies with just fruits and all that but how did you changed your way of thinking and eating? I would love if you could tell us something about your experiences and the things you learned from it because I am sure that I am not the only one who often feld very distracted by all these hyped diets. And I am so happy that the most influencers on KZbin don't follow them anymore 🌱 It seems like the world gets back to a healthy relationship with food and the real art and love of cooking healthy and vegan 🌎
