It does feel a little soft, BUT you said the aperture is stuck open. (Better than stuck closed all the way down!) I love the feel and color grading of this whole video. Keep making these great reviews please, I always love watching.

The back of the lens is fixed on three screws. I have just removed it, and unstuck the aperture by wiggling the actuation lever. It works ok now.

@@loneshootr As of when you replied, there were absolutely no single listing of Helios 28mm f2.8, or even for the Helios 28mm. I don't think it's available anywhere anymore unless someone is lucky enough to find it on one of these irregular websites. If anyone finds a link, I'd really appreciate it, as of 6hrs ago and 6 minutes ago, no luck man.

Hey man! Thanks for the great tip, I'll definitely keep an eye out for one😁 Do you know the MIR 1b 37mm F2.8? It's not as wide as 28mm but it has a very similar Bokeh to the Helios 44-2. Sadly not as cheap though, but I really love it.

Yeah I like the Mir 37mm a lot. They seem to hold quite a high price here though. I was looking for something slightly wider for my you tube 'talking head' stuff. This 28mm renders backgrounds in a swirl but only if all the distances are right...

Loved the atmosphere in the video :) I've got an old Tamron 28 mm 2.8 Adaptall 2 from 1980ish + ND filter/ paid £15.00 / Beauty and Sharpness. Working perfectly with my Canon via adapter. Ohh, I've also got another Tamron SP 90 mm 2.8 Adaptall 2 from 1980ish too, which is too sharp. Simply too sharp ... I mean it.

Not an easy lens to find and as with most Helios lenses now, prices are skyrocketing. Same happened with vintage canon FD lenses.

Ha thanks - I think it just comes down to if you work with the same gear for long enough you learn how to make the most of it really. If I change camera to a better one it takes me forever to figure it out. I use a Panasonic G80/G85 now - and I haven't come up with an image I like yet...
