American college football coach Ted Lasso heads to London to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League football team.
Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama television series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, based on a character Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of England's Premier League.[2] The show follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team with the secret intention that his inexperience will lead it to failure, but whose folksy, optimistic leadership proves unexpectedly successful.
The first season of ten episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes followed by weekly installments.[3] A second season of 12 episodes premiered on July 23, 2021.[4][5][6] In October 2020, the series was renewed for a third season,[7] which will premiere on March 15, 2023.[8]
The series has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its performances (particularly Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein), humor, writing, themes, and uplifting tone. Among other accolades, its first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy Award history. Sudeikis, Waddingham and Goldstein won for their performances, and the series won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Sudeikis also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

I found this one to be one of my absolute FAVORITES of the show. Though, Beard is my favorite character, so that certainly helps.

I love that this episode gives some time to characters that dont have much of a story arc otherwise. It takes Beard's headspace, beating himself up over both the match and his relationship, and puts it into physical form. It shows that down deep, Beard is incredibly kind to those around him (like our 3 favorite barflies), even in the midst of the chaos surrounding him. Oh, and as you're going to see in S3, Beard is a bit crazy in his personal life, at keast the glimpses we are given.

"Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" is a book by Judy Blume. I have no faith that his mom is actually named Margaret as much as it's just another Beardism. And my interpretation is that the "if you want to look her up" is treating God like tech support that he has to look her details up in order to fully assess the Beard situation.

I love when people watch this show and after a huge emotional hit they say "I thought this was a comedy". It is, but its a Bill Lawrence comedy, and if you've ever watched Scrubs then you know his comedies come with gut punches out of nowhere. The man, and the people that he works with, are so good at emotional rollercoasters and lovable side characters. Great reaction!

@@TheLexiCrowd I'd give it a shot, if you like Ted Lasso, you'd like Scrubs. Same humour, same great side characters, loveable main characters. I highly recommend all 8 seasons, because there are only 8 seasons, we don't speak about the 9th season......

@@cirrustate8674 Bill Lawrence wrote the show to end at season 8, tied it up and summed up all the threads, but the season did so good that the parent company asked for another season. With lots of main characters gone they whipped up an "intern" show with new cast and some returning members. It bombed. So most Scrubs fans don't consider season 9 as part of the show.

I kind of agree this might be my least favorite episode of Ted Lasso, but I still love it. I don't think you caught the reference but when Beard was talking about tomorrow will be the greatest day of her life, it's parodying a scene from the movie Fight Club.

That's pretty much my impression. It's not one of the better episodes, but a nice little break episode. We get to see more of the pub boys (Paul, Jeremy, and Baz) and look into London's night scene. Paul (the black guy) is easily my favorite of the pub boys. He asked Beard about his thoughts on the universe. Wonderful sequence. The announcers were all in his head and Beard was under the influence of drugs. Also, the episode implies this is not a one-off type of deal. Beard frequently has these crazy nights. Next episode won an Emmy for Best Directing in a Comedy Series at the Emmys.

I always love watching your videos, first needed to say that! You're so lovely with your genuine reactions, I look forward to them every week- seriously. If my memory's correct, I think they only mention the coffee orders once in the series- and my friends and I have actually talked this out because she works at a coffee shop. We have come to the conclusion that the flat white is Roy's, the black coffee is Nate's and of course, peppermint is Ted. And the main reasoning without spoilers, just going down to coffee lingo: the flat white having the espresso base {normally 2 shots} and steamed milk. A little more umph, and the intensity of flavor. Not as much beverage, but it is straight to the point. That is such a Roy thing. Simple, but extra. Short to the point. Something to sip and have that zing. Whereas a black coffee, I wouldn't say basic, but it is a base. You can add whatever you want to it. It's simple. It's the least complicated to grab and go. And for the longest time for Nate {going to S1} wanted to stay out of people's way, make things easier. He was small, wanted no conflict. And since he's trying to be intimidating, well, black coffee. Not many drink their coffee black. And then of course, holly jolly Ted with his peppermint😂 So sorry for literally dissecting a coffee choice, but I thought you'd like to read my silly thought process

IIRC doesn't Ted at one point talk about liking his coffee in ways that make it taste nothing like coffee? So peppermint absolutely goes with him.

Did you ever think you could just pause a real person? I just paused Lexi because she's heartless. She said it, not me. Lexi is one of my favourites - I don't like thinking of her as heartless. I'm sure she has a heart. Which she keeps on a shelf. In the basement next to the mummy hand.

While I'm sure some people enjoyed, this is _by far_ my least favorite episode of the show. 4:31 I never knew that! It makes sense, though, since you could skip the episode entirely and not notice anything amiss with the rest of the show. In general I think it's good for shows to do experimental episodes. Sometimes they're amazing. Unfortunately, this one just really did not work for me.

Am laughing because she got so much criticism and comments for her horrible reaction to the Sam/Rebecca romance, that made her look racist, in this video she recaps everything in that previous episode and doesn’t mention Sam/Rebecca at all, when it was the main plot 😂 😆. She doesn’t want to expose herself again 😂
