Join us for a jam packed winter week in Norrland. We have a lot of fun skiing and riding snowmobiles but of course there was some work to be done amongst the fun. We also chopped logs and had to clear our driveway of snow. We hope you enjoy this insight into a week in Northern Sweden.
Lots of love

What's up everyone, we are Naomi and Jack 👋
We are a young married couple who are all about personal growth.
In summer 2020, amidst a global pandemic, we uprooted our lives in Central London and decided to move to Northern Sweden.
We were fed up of living on top of millions of other people in London, living out of one room in a flat shared with Naomi's parents, all whilst studying, working, creating KZbin content and launching our business.
So we bought a car, packed it full of our belongings, and drove nearly 3000km to Sweden with no idea where we were going to live.
This year we are taking time out of studying Medicine and Law to pursue our business, BEAUTYNOIR, the Afro-Caribbean hair and beauty directory helping women to book beauty better.
So join us as we share and document our journey through film.
We are so pleased to share our journey with you and hope to build a community of people who can support one another and grow together.
Lots of love
Naomi and Jack

Think of the axe as a pendulum. It get its force by the swing, holding the handle close to the head hinders the pendulum and stop the force that split the wood. Both hands at the end of the ax makes all the difference. Try again, bend your knees and follow the swing girl! :) You guys have an appetite for life, i love that you go for it, try it and feel from it. What ever the feeling is, it is living life.

As somebody that comes from Norway and has spent 8 years in the UK. People who have only ever lived in a flat in a big city. They know where the good cafes are, they know where to get their takeaway, and they know about expensive, desirable brand names and their office jobs. But there is precious little in the way of real-life practical skills. Or even real values. Its really cool to see how well you guys are doing in this environment.

@@grymkaft Real value... Like having been out in the snow, gone for a walk in the forest, mountain, mini adventures. When I talk about these things to Brits, all they think they can achieve by walking a 3 hour trip into the snow is to get cold, hungry, wet, tired. They dont see the value in having done a thing. And then to come home after having done a thing. Doesnt matter how big or how adventurous. The daily stuff. Maintenance, clearing snow, building a thing, taking care of stuff. Real values.

-10 to -15 degree C doesn't feel very cold as the air get very dry. Not compared +-0 degrees and high humidity and especially not if it's a little windy. You tend to freeze a lot more in the south of Sweden along the coast line, than inland in the north, only because of the wind and high humidity. But, when the temps drop down to -20 or colder, it's important to check bare skin on each other and look for white spots when you spend time outside. Freeze burns are easy to get on your nose, ears and cheeks, because first you go numb and you don't feel the burn until it's too late. Be aware and careful, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, and please no moisturiser cream and your face in such cold. Like typical daily cream with a lot of water content. It can makes it much worse. There are special more oily creams for this season. I don't know brands in sweden but sometimes in Poland these are simply called winter face cream.

@@AmandaPandah wow, interesting:) I was always taught that in lower temperatures like -10c and below you should not put typical light cream on your face before leaving the house. I mean it is not a problem if you put it on your face in the morning and leave the house few hours later :) I mean the case when you want to protect the face in the winter, when skiing, long walking outside etc From what I found in English it is called "cold cream" sometimes :)

@@krewetkaaaa I mean the skin gets dry in winter but thats about it. The only thing I do different in the winter is dry my hair properly before I go outside so it doesn't freeze and break off. But ive not heard of winter face creams. I'm more concerned about losing my toes from the cold :P
@anderspersson7084
@anderspersson7084 3 жыл бұрын
@@krewetkaaaa We have learned that in extreeme cold we use Nivea Cream in the tin that is much more fatty than skinlotions, but it has to be applied several hours before you go out in the extreme temperatur belove -20° Celsius the days belove -30 or in some rare days when it's -40° or below and the air really sucks the moisture out of the skin, there are just a few places were they get the coldest temperature while further south it's not that kind of winters, closer to the coasts it's a higher humidity in the air even on winters while inland the air is much drier, two things were it possible to see the difference is people with heavy astma can feel some relief in the drier inland air, while the drier inland air creates way more electrostatic loads in everything a problem thats are not especially noticeable in more humid air because the overload of electrones have so much easier to get released in the humidity, but back to the cold it's very good to moisturice the skin regulary otherwise it becomes a streetchy screetchy skin in the real cold.

Thank you. You did what I suggested and this is what northern Sweden life is about. Being 100% into the season's and what the seasons bring. In the winter you ski, skate and have fun. In the summer you swim in the gulf of Bothnia or a similar place. Can you imagine what I had to tell my host family in southern England when I was 15? They thought I was a savage from another planet. Great work :)

When it gets cold like -25c or lower do not use ”normal” facecream. The best is if you do not wash the face in the morning, if it gets really cold do not wash your face at all. The best protection is the natural grease from your own body. In the north of sweden you do not have to worry about dirt in the air, it is clean. Also protect your face when you go outside and check your feet and hands for frostbite.

I take it you have studs on your tyres. It must be nice and quiet there , I have only ever been to Sweden once many many years ago now when I was in the armed forces training. It’s nice to be a bit worried skying even on a small hill you can still brake a leg . But as long as you take care , oh to be young again enjoy 😊

I'm awe struck at how you two work and play together in a winter wonderland; and there is something about the music scores I just love. You are blessed to have each other.

Seeing a friend from the US knitting a while back, I realised it's not done the same way there as here in Sweden. If you know someone from Sweden who does knitting, compare how they do it to your way of knitting. The end result is identical, but it's rather interesting to see the different ways it can be done ;)

I had one of those isolated packs to put hot food in to keep things warm. You should be able to buy them in Sweden too. You get used to the speed Naomi, especially if you drive one yourself. Nobody will be mad if you go slower than Jack ;>p

Oh you adorable two! So fun to share in your adventure once again. I've read lots of comments and ditto them all with praise, admiration, advice and love. As usual, another great vlog that sparkled with winter freshness and squeaking snow. Until next time. Merry Christmas. Hugs.

The trick to get take out in rural parts. The food gets the passenger seat during the drive home, turn on heated seat to full blast. Have warm food when you get home.

As always, great video! Happened to notice what looked like a roof rack for an old car at 15:03 when Jack was clearing out by the shed. Those racks can be quite valuable depending on the model and make. Many vintage car owners are actively searching for them and can pay some good money for the right one.
