This is how yearly releases should be. The mainline AAA team takes as much time as they need and releases a big flagship game every 4-7 years. Then in between those big releases, side teams and third parties make spinoffs, remasters and smaller games. This is what Mario does as well. But then you have series like Pokemon lean almost entirely on their primary studio to make every game, or series like CoD and Assassins Creed rushing out new games every year. When people complain that AAA games take too long to come out: no, they don't. AAA games take a long time to make, that's what makes them AAA. The problem arises when a company releases nothing but AAA games; then you either have super long droughts of nothing, or the studio rushing every game to get them out before they're done. The way Nintendo handles big game releases is the right way.

Specifically for Four Swords Anniversary, they did add a Singleplayer mode, where you play as one Link with a 2nd Link following you, like how Four Swords Adventures does it. You can split up and move the Links independently, and as well the 2nd Link will automatically assist with tasks that need input from 2 players.

I'd say Phantom Hourglass and especially Spirit Tracks are worth revisiting some time. They're not the best of the best of Zelda games, but they're still amazing and worth a shot. Go in with the mindset that you'll be using the stylus a lot and the control scheme honestly works just fine. I guess I'm just annoyed at how many people dismiss these games simply because it doesn't use a D-Pad to move around.
@okagron3 ай бұрын
Nah, Scott is right, the control scheme really does make both games annoying to play. That's not even the only bad part about them, the incredibly weak dungeons, the really easy bosses, how in both games you have to go through the same dungeon several times (the worst one being in Phantom Hourglass) and all the wasted time traveling around in a vehicle. And let's not forget how horrendous and finnicky stuff like the flute is in Spirit Tracks, that thing is genuinely one of the worst things in the franchise and it's mandatory to complete the game. Probably the two Zelda games that desperately need full remakes.

I remember actually playing Four swords anniversary edition with 3 other people quite frequently. It was me, my brother, and my two friends down the street would just sit in my driveway and play four swords on our DSis. The fact that it was free made it so much easier to round people up to play it

I may be one of the few who actually loves Phantom Hourglass. No other Zelda game has felt as innovative as that one to me. Discovering how each item would be used was a joy. Plus some of the puzzles and boss battles were so unique using the features of the DS.

Man i love Cadence of Hyrule so damn much. I pretty much play this game since 2019 (and the awesome DLC) non stop, It´s kinda my comfort game, so easy to boot up and do a quick playthrough. I really hope Brace Yourself Games is doing a sequel (or more DLC) one day.

Zelda Four Swords on GBA only required 2 people to play. You didnt need all 4. Zelda Collectors Edition came out in 2003. Master Quest was 2002 as a preorder bonus.
@beccacroce73803 ай бұрын
I think the years without Zelda games are the producers giving you extra time to complete the more recent Zelda games. Sprit Tracks comes out in 2009, 2010 doesn't make a game, 2011 starts with a little Four Swords, and finishes preparing Skyward Sword.

I’m convinced that TOTK was originally slated either for late 2020 or 2021 and got delayed a year because of COVID and then got delayed another year just so they could get the game running on the switch at all.

Regarding relaunching Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, there are modded versions of those games that use buttons to make the games control like normal. There's also a Dragon Ball game called Dragon Ball Origins that used the Phantom Hourglass control scheme, and in the sequel they made it so you could control with buttons too. So it is definitely doable.
