@@trinodot8112 if only, but new Pokémon creatures always come from the mainline games, and new Pokémon means new merchandising opportunities for The Pokemon Company and they won’t pass up on the money from the games, trading cards, and stuff like figures and plushes, especially when the games still sell *incredibly* well despite the mediocre quality recently

Rereleases over remakes could work, but sales wise, spin-offs are no substitute for mainline games. Plus there only been 3 years with no Pokemon spin-off: 1996, 1997 and 2022. Also, remakes and 3rd versions (and now DLC) ARE the low key releases before new games

Link's Crossbow Training began development as a full-blown sequel to Twilight Princess in the same vein as Majora's Mask, reusing assets and all. The fact that Age of Calamity chickens out so badly is crazy. It'd be like if in Rogue One they somehow blew up the Death Star and all survived and joined the Rebellion. Or if in Better Call Saul he just sticks with elder law and has a nice career and marriage with Kim. The promise of the premise is not fulfilled. And you've misled the consumer. If you saw those things and still believed the game was completely in line with BOTW then you deluded yourself. If you wanna argue about it not having a sad ending, fine, but don't act like the game wasn't already deviating/chickening out from a 'true prequel' story even before the big twist. Waiting for two or three years for a game could make the difference of being a kid in elementary school or being a teenager about to start highschool. It is bonkers to believe that we’ve had a Zelda game released every year since 2017 except for 2022, and that’s only because TotK was delayed to 2023. One release I’m still waiting for to this day though is a port of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, which Nintendo seems oddly hellbent against for some reason. Along with being some of the few WiiU games *not* ported to Switch.

I consider my Switch to be my "Zelda machine" because I can play so many of the main series games on it. But the lack of WW and TP has been a glaring absence for me. So at least I can say that my wii got some love last year when I hunted down an old WW game and emulated TP on it. I hope they release on the Switch 2. Coupled with backwards compatibility for the Switch Zelda titles and improved performance, it'll be an absolute monster for playing my favorite series. I can't wait for what's in store.

This is how yearly releases should be. The mainline AAA team takes as much time as they need and releases a big flagship game every 4-7 years. Then in between those big releases, side teams and third parties make spinoffs, remasters and smaller games. This is what Mario does as well. But then you have series like Pokemon lean almost entirely on their primary studio to make every game, or series like CoD and Assassins Creed rushing out new games every year. When people complain that AAA games take too long to come out: no, they don't. AAA games take a long time to make, that's what makes them AAA. The problem arises when a company releases nothing but AAA games; then you either have super long droughts of nothing, or the studio rushing every game to get them out before they're done. The way Nintendo handles big game releases is the right way.

Thank you for doing this video, mostly for the history lesson and commentary, but also because you convinced me to give Minish Cap a try. I skipped several generations, I loved Ocarina of Time, I hated Majora's Mask, but I never had a GameCube or Wii, I missed everything between Majora's Mask and Breath of the Wild. I have NSO, and I've been considering trying to catch up and play some of the games I missed. I just finished my Echoes or Wisdom playthrough, and maybe Minish Cap should be my next game.

Specifically for Four Swords Anniversary, they did add a Singleplayer mode, where you play as one Link with a 2nd Link following you, like how Four Swords Adventures does it. You can split up and move the Links independently, and as well the 2nd Link will automatically assist with tasks that need input from 2 players.

I'd say Phantom Hourglass and especially Spirit Tracks are worth revisiting some time. They're not the best of the best of Zelda games, but they're still amazing and worth a shot. Go in with the mindset that you'll be using the stylus a lot and the control scheme honestly works just fine. I guess I'm just annoyed at how many people dismiss these games simply because it doesn't use a D-Pad to move around.
@okagron
@okagron 3 ай бұрын
Nah, Scott is right, the control scheme really does make both games annoying to play. That's not even the only bad part about them, the incredibly weak dungeons, the really easy bosses, how in both games you have to go through the same dungeon several times (the worst one being in Phantom Hourglass) and all the wasted time traveling around in a vehicle. And let's not forget how horrendous and finnicky stuff like the flute is in Spirit Tracks, that thing is genuinely one of the worst things in the franchise and it's mandatory to complete the game. Probably the two Zelda games that desperately need full remakes.

I think the years without Zelda games are the producers giving you extra time to complete the more recent Zelda games. Sprit Tracks comes out in 2009, 2010 doesn't make a game, 2011 starts with a little Four Swords, and finishes preparing Skyward Sword.

Regarding relaunching Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, there are modded versions of those games that use buttons to make the games control like normal. There's also a Dragon Ball game called Dragon Ball Origins that used the Phantom Hourglass control scheme, and in the sequel they made it so you could control with buttons too. So it is definitely doable.
