While it is certainly fun to see the maximum numbers and compare titans against one another, I do wish there were more low and mid-range phone reviews that were this in-depth and useful. It's like watching them send rocket cars along the desert flats hitting over 1,000MPH. That's fun and whatnot, but I just need a nice $15,000 sedan for getting to work and back :)

Xiaomi, Realme, Google are one of the few companies that provide official tool to unlock it and give you full control of the entire operating system. @@marcosassari5603 In fact Apple produces an Above-average Architecture, the amount of Cache inside these chipsets is impressive, 8gen2 is mediocre because it uses ARM Design with few changes and has Only 8MB of Cache, while the A16 boasts 24MB, this makes the A16 CPU more efficient because it avoids access to DRAM outside the Chipset, the problem is that Apple did not do much this.

It's just a shame it's a duopoly so competition is rather complacent. Plus let's be serious here, most people who bought an iPhone still won't consider an android if it has a stronger processor. Damn, NICE WORK?! 👍 *I’m a first time viewer and I just had to sub* because I can appreciate *how tedious it must have been to run all these benchmarks!* As an iPhone 13 Pro Max user, I feel somewhat vindicated in taking a pass on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It seems that the rumors of Apple engineers dropping the ball on A16’s GPU design are more truth than rumor. Apparently, Apple intended to add raytracing to A16’s GPU cores, but they simply couldn’t manage the thermal envelope presented by iPhone’s cooling solutions. Early iPhone 14 Pro leaks suggested that Apple would use a heat pipe for the first time, but no heat pipes were found once the iPhone 14 Pro began shipping. It seems as if quite a few of those early iPhone 14 leaks were eventually abandoned once Apple decided to fall back to use the previous GPU designs used by A15, along with Apple recycling the previous years’s SOC for the very first time in Apple iPhone’s history. It appears that Qualcomm has made significant improvements with Gen 2, catching up and even exceeding Apple’s A16 with the addition of hardware-based RT functionality. No one was aware of Gen 2’s feature set when Apple announced iPhone 14 and it clearly benefited Apple who had missed their internal features target with A16. It will be very interesting to see how Apple responds with A17, assuming Apple continues to develop new SOC’s annually? I think the story behind A16 is likely far more horrific than Apple has revealed publicly. The fact that Apple was able to salvage A16 despite their A16 GPU failure is a testament to the effectiveness of their marketing. iPhone 14 sales are still dismal, but Apple was never forced to reconcile an entire year lost to a poor GPU design. It’s inexplicable that despite higher clocks, significantly higher memory bandwidth and even a die shrink have resulted in completely average performance and efficiency bumps for A16. Lastly, what is up with MediaTek Dimensity 9200 and when will it ship in quantity?! I don’t know who’s working on MT’s GPU design, but their GPUs appear to be screaming fast?! MediaTek SOCs are often the choice for budget Android gaming handhelds coming out of China and I *cannot wait* to see some products based upon D9200 to arrive in US in Q3 or Q4 of 2023. With 10-core CPUs leveraging fast DDR5, we’re going to need some fast GPUs to get the most from all those cores.

@Jason Parker Exactly, both Nvidia and AMD have the performance crown overall, but none can compete this well in the Ultrabook space with TDP of 50W+, only Apple currently have compelling offers, this Adreno 740 could be a huge asset in the Windows Laptop field, if given the appropriate market support. (They Need Microsoft's $$$)

@Jason Parker 780M is touching 2050 which is ~45% better than 1050. But seeing that Qualcomm can boost their GPU clockspeed of their GPUs to hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they can perform ~10-15% lower than that.

I heard QUALCOMM will switch to use it’s own CPU design from this year, as it start to getting worse relationship with ARM, which could be designed by the team that working for Apple A chip before. If both of them using the same TSMC 3nm for the new chips, the snapdragon could out perform A17 in both CPU and GPU. While I think Apple will get 3nm ahead of the competitors.

I find that still unlikely. Even if the processor is theoretically stronger, the bloat that many androids have will still hold it back in scores. I prefer android, but it's undeniable that IOS has a more optimized OS.

Great job! Very thorough and well designed tests! I wonder how the S23 series overclocked chips would fare on your power curve charts! I’m sure the consumption would go up, but I wonder if the performance increase would be even noticeable or worth it. Samsung also has a “lite” mode that apparently reduces perf by 10% and something like a 40% power reduction - that would be really cool to see tested as well!

In upcoming showdown of chipset can you add the storage topic or make another video because iPhone uses nvme and latest android uses ufs 4.0 can you compare these. If we have faster storage than the performance is also faster. I have read some articles which says the nvme storage is too fast and better than ufs so can you elaborate about that also. Your way of explaining is just too good and the quality is just as good. Apologise in advance for my bad English.

doesn't matter a bit because you won't be doing 8k video editing and transfer them on an iphone. For other tasks ufs is more than fast.
@sammulan634

@@TheRealGigaCat my point is, for example a game take 30 seconds to load with ufs 3.0 and 25 sec with ufs 4.0 but if it has nvme it will take 15-18 seconds to load. Basically it means we can render everything fast with fast storage not just sharing or editing a 8k video.

@@sammulan634 i think loading game isn’t related in anyway to nvme’s since it is a kind of ssd, right? although the loading will be affected, but after that... the ram takes over it will still fight on how they utilize the ddr5 ram inside the chipset, while also balancing the power distribution efficiently
