Can't wait to see this beast driving on the roads much respect I'm working on 2 project cars 1991 ford probe gt and 1989 ford probe gt I needed motivation I'm rebuilding one to factory stock and the other one turning into a race car bought one original to make donor for the 89 but was way to clean so I decided to rebuild it's hard to work alone and no garage ..videos like these pumps me back up good luck to you .

Ford Probe- now there is one you don't hear about much anymore. The Probe was one of the most touted concept cars of the early eighties. Never was slated for production, but caused such a stir that Ford decided to build it. Wish they had stuck closer to the original concept car, but they never do. Sorry you don't have a garage, I was almost 50 before I got back to having "my own Space." Still working alone however. Some nights it's lonely, but I get to listen to whatever I want, do what ever I want, work as late as I want. Keep at it - I'll keep the motivation videos coming!

Pretty amazing for a one guy to accomplish so far, I am really enjoy watching your channel......I just realize it is mid engine AWD supercar. I had built an off road race car with similar setup about 10 year ago...soon we test drive after we finish the car, we decide to delete the front differential and make it RWD only. The AWD only take a little advantage at beginning of acceleration, but soon we reach certain speed, the transmission friction kick in and become disadvantage. AWD also make cornering harder due to understeering...the complexity also causing more trouble during the race. You can also consider using the rigid engine/transmission/differential mount (no mount damper), we did that so the whole system is a rigid body and thus we can build a less light weight tube chassis. You will be surprised there are really not that much of vibration coming from engine/drivetrain.
@BuilderCreator4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! Off road racing. I've been shown pictures of a fairly famous car built in the 80s (The Baja Boot) that had a similar layout. It actually did fairly well . In fact James Glickinhouse has been looking at rebuilding the idea with production in mind. As for the Arete project, we shall see what we get for performance. Thanks for your comments.

Perhaps I missed something, but what are your plans for heat management with the exhaust pipes being so close to the suspension pistons?
@BuilderCreator4 жыл бұрын
If you look close you will see studs on top of the exhaust for heat shields. Plus some wrapping off the turbos. Plus again, some great ventilation.
@hardtopte724 жыл бұрын
I'm not seeing any flex sections. It seems with the weight of the turbochargers and long pipe runs, you would have issued with cracking the pipes and/or manifold. Are you concerned about that? If not, why? Just found this build and have been binging the content. Very interesting and cannot wait to see it done. Will you do a cost breakdown upon completion? Would be interesting to also know how much specialist tools and other jobs cost.
@BuilderCreator4 жыл бұрын
Not yet built is the "off the head" manifold, it will have bellows. The rest, including the plate the turbos are mounted on, are all suspended on rubber bushing or hangers. I'll likely review the costs when I'm done. Tools are harder to break down, as their expense will be carried across dozens of projects. (Or really good tools, "hundreds".)

@manifestgood4 жыл бұрын
Really ?
@aor9804 жыл бұрын
@@manifestgood Yes. I was into circuit racing more than a decade ago. I made a couple for some engineers. Basically I can make it so that you put your known values in. Curb weight, front weight distribution %, tire sizes, track widths center of gravity height, engine rpms and values after taking it to a dyno, max lateral g after testing. My spreadsheet spits out spring rates, damper and rebound rates, anti roll bar, progressive gear ratios depending on your max speed, limited slip diff %, ride frequency, etc. I would just need to know what units you prefer and you could always adjust for what you are trying to do.

I have never built a supercar but I have built plenty of shelves, truck racks, trailers... And I have noticed one common problem with tacking a lot of parts with the intention of later returning to complete all of the welds and that is I invariably miss the odd weld despite being sure that I had finished all of the welds. Do you have a system to prevent this or do you just never miss those? Great video as always.
