👍Thanks for the video. Westbound looks finished, wonder why they didn't open that at the same time

Thanks. I spoke with one of the engineers who said the delays westbound were to do with the recent wet weather and not being able to make safe the rubbish tipped on the eastern side of the junction.

@@roadsandthings I was also wondering why the westbound carriageway was not opened, thanks for answering this question.

The first time I saw Dowlais Top was on the extremely rainy day of the Aberfan Disaster. They were beginning the earthworks for the 3-lane HOTV road on the stretch to Rhymney Bridge. It was a horrible muddy and treeless mess of old coaltips, disused railway lines and slagheaps. And then, of course, there were all the emergency vehicles struggling to get to the disaster along the then hugely-disconnected bits of the original 2-lane HOTV road. In all fairness, it was a big improvement when it was finished. And the latest layout will help; but hopefully there will be some tree-planting in the next few years. In the meantime, can you please stop using that horrible stodgy and lugubrious blues music as soundtrack? I hear it and it gives me the blues by reminding me what Fochriw and Dowlais Top used to look like in the 60s. ;-) I usually watch your vids at 2X, but it makes that music even worse. But perhaps I should just mute it! :-)
