I have just done this repair on my daughter's car. Very helpful video, thank you. Getting the remains of the old connector out was a slow and tedious job, exactly as your video said.

This happened to my car, I called the AA and the guy changed it along with the oil pressure switch for FREE, Nothing was wrong with the pressure switch but he said it was a common fault, Top man.

Thanks for this video. If I hadn't have seen this I would have gone for a water pump change. I got the brass replacement from a local Vauxhall dealer, part number 55564351, not cheap at £16.62 but was in stock. As per your video I picked out the plastic with a screwdriver which cleared the beginning of the thread and allowed the brass replacement to clean up the rest of the thread being careful not to force it and damage the brass thread. Picking a hole all the way through allowed the rest of the plastic to be forced out. Once again thanks.

Can I ask, why would somebody take off this tube and put a bolt in its place? Second, my pipe has a plastic part that has three plastic nozzles coming off it. Is this pipe standard?
@aaanton113 жыл бұрын
The bolt bit is not a bolt, its the broken plastic pipe that threads into the water pump, yours sounds slightly different, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

How did the new part fit because I'm told Vauxhall stopped making the plastic ones and replaced with metal but they have different thread and require new water pump.you seem to remove plastic one and replace with metal ?
@aaanton117 жыл бұрын
+Terry85 T ,yes you remove the old plastic One and the new one screws in on the same thread no new pump needed, the new pipes are sold at most good car spares shop👍🏻

I have just done this to my corsa cut an inner tube valve off an old tube from a bicycle removed inner valve ptfe around thread screwed into the water pump then reattached pipe with clip over the solid end of the valve and off we go cost me 15mins of my time

Is it a problem if parts of the broken fitting fall into the pump? Can they clog the system? Is there a filter or some way to catch them?

I've been trying to take the same thing out on my car but there is fluid leaking upwards out where the screw is stuck. Is this just coolant and is it normal for it to happen? Ordering my part to fix as well, thanks for the video!
