Restoration of Antique Rusty Kerosene Oil Table Fan | 100 Years Old Fan
Restoration Video Overview:
In this video, we are restoring a very old fan. We found it in a junk store and brought it to our restoration room.
It was full of rust and mud, and the engine inside was completely stuck due to the rust. We decided to restore it and separated all its parts. Its internal mechanism was badly damaged by rust, but we cleaned it thoroughly and removed the rust completely. The engine was also restored to like-new condition. After completing the restoration of the rusty fan, we tested it, and it is working perfectly.
Watch the video till the end and subscribe for more restoration videos like this.

Wow. Caked in mud, blades still straight, bearings still packed with grease and no rust in the piston. What are the odds? Zero!

Hello, I believe that calling this work "restoration" is a bit of a stretch. I think more could be done. A warning should be given to anyone who publishes these types of videos, not everything counts to gain "views". I hope that's not the case.

The correct name for this type of fan is an Erickson Cycle or Stirling Hot Air Engine. A flame heats the displacement piston that transfers the hot expanded air into the power piston, thus repeating in a closed engine. I have a fan of this same design and it is a reproduction of a 19th century KYCO fan style made in England. I ordered mine new from Pakistan in the 1980s and its also blue in colour. It cost $600 Australian. I doubt they cost much more now. This fan looks as though it has been in a flood. Probably not as old as you think but the design is old. They pre-date steam engine technology and were never seen as a real power source but were useful for areas with no electricity. NASA developed a similar engine that used compressed hydrogen internally instead of air. That engine was solar powered and developed several thousand horse power. It was mounted at the focal point of a sun tracking solar dish and ran an electricity generator. Nasa even had one running a car. All experimental though. Lots of info available online. A ship was even built running the same type of engine and it wasn't successful. It was powered by coal. The engines were very large and required a lot of coal. In the end there was no room left for any cargo so the engines were replaced with steam engines that produced much more power. Great to see one being cleaned up and saved from the scrap heap. Great effort. A unique part of the pre steam era of the industrial revolution. www.reddit.com/r/WeirdWheels/comments/p22t61/1979_doe_nasa_amc_spirit_dl_with_a_stirling_engine/?rdt=65469 www.stirlingengine.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=553

It`s one of the few use cases of a sterling engine I have seen that is not a emergency generator that can run on anything that burns or super specialised use cases like powering a small military submarine. Pretty smart to use that for this device.

Yay ! ! Another BS restoration where the object is smeared with mud and baked then left outside for a couple of weeks. If that was in the mud for 100 years, the aluminium blades would have lots of corrosion on their edges, the crank would be seized and rusted to well beyond repair and all screws would be rusted in place and unable to be removed without drilling them out. The grease would not be grease either.

Considering how much stuff was caked on the outside of this device, I was quite shocked to see that the interior was fairly clean. Almost too clean. This thing is not sealed, so if it has been in a situation where it can be covered in a half inch of mud, the interior should have looked just as bad. Convince me something shady isn't going on here.
