Idc what anyone says, this was more than enough pressing from Jimmy and Jake. Yall can’t expect them to insult Boone and his guys
@timlett992 ай бұрын
It absolutely baffles me that so many viewers still don’t understand these two things: 1) Booney is simply not allowed to say much 2) Booney is not in control of 90% of things going on with the team It’s media, of course he’s going to give the guys generic answers…HE HAS TO. I love this pod especially the episodes when they get to talk to him but holy hell people use your brains lmao
@WilliamSt.Clair13992 ай бұрын
I will agree to a point, but take his answer from the Volpe question, I feel like that wink and an open nod to at least being open to some degree of obvious stuff is what kills fans a lot. I feel like you can tell the guys were really ready to push back, and he just completely disarmed them by saying yeah I noticed something. He didn’t diss or call out Volpe at all, he still defended him, but he said there’s something there that we can work on.
@timlett992 ай бұрын
@@WilliamSt.Clair1399 that’s his job, to expect anything else is silly. Guys, athletes or coaches, can’t really speak their mind until they’re retired just like you can’t really go out publicly and talk about what’s wrong with your job. Just the nature of business.

I’d pay an ungodly amount of money to know what Boone is thinking when having his weekly call. You can tell he’s like, “why the funk do we have to do any media ever - who are these non-bb guys who question a sport that most have never played and/or know little about”

Honestly he probably really enjoys it when Jimmy doesn’t ask dumbass questions he knows Boone can’t answer (see Clay question this ep). Booney is very clearly just a baseball fan like the rest of the guys so when those conversations happen you can tell he’s enjoying himself but when they ask who they’re trading for every episode for 2 months you can also tell he gets a bit annoyed

@GuessJess2 ай бұрын
I get it, Boone sticks up for his guys. I always appreciated that about him. But in that last loss, he really needs to shift more of the blame on Holmes and less of the blame on Volpe and Verdugo. Clay Holmes has just been giving up too much contact and he’s not a clutch closer. But then I guess if Boone admitted that, he would also have to admit that he should have pulled Holmes out of the game after he loaded the bases and share in some of the blame for that loss.
@SylvesterMatera2 ай бұрын
I think Boone is brilliant in handling the media. There have been moments lately where he he's a tick off with the BS but that is a valued skill that Cashman and Hal love.

I think that why we have such a big negative feeling about Mr. Boone is mostly because he’s not looking at things as a fan at all. He’s always looking at what could’ve happened. He’s always looking at baseball being a game of inches. Of course he’s right about that but why is it that the Yankees are always on the wrong end of things. That part is got to be related to preparation team bonding and leadership. It can’t all be about chance.
