MSRP for the new Umarex Oilless ReadyAir Air Gun Compressor is $549.99 US Dollars or £800 plus here in the UK. Any one else feel we are being ripped off ?

That's cheaper than I thought. I thought they were about $800 - US. Considering I just paid nearly $300 for a ToAuto A2, I would've forked out another $250 for this. I'm only really filling a couple of very small tubes these days 6:08 . I use my springers more 😂

The nomad 2 and its BSA close cousin do the same job, are more compact and are cheaper. They both look a lot better. Both also come with a filter with activated charcoal and a dessicant that is easy enough to change when needed. I added a separate pressure gauge with a nice large face for £16 and and a large filter (£22) just to be sure the air going into my guns is clean and dry.

Nice. Was that a Fast Show reference? Jazz. Nice. Anyway. Great review. The activated is intriguing as any engineer or chemist will tell you these remove hydrocarbons and not moisture. So oil etc. If it’s moisture removal then that is usually 3A molecular sieves. See Hill MK5 cartridge etc. Have a good weekend everyone. 👍

only thing that concerns me about theses compressors is the moisture content going into the gun did not really see much filtration there , only the charcoal filter . not saying it’s an issue because your not running it for extended periods of time for moisture to build but still i would like to see a little better filtration added in the package

Worth highlighting 400W at 12V is 35 Amps, way over a car 12V socket current hence the fat cable supplied. Needs a direct battery connection and a running engine.

I was close to buying this, but they were sold out at the time. I didn't want to wait for it to re-stock, so I bought the Nomad 2 and ive been happy with it. I've heard decent things about this...the only complaint I heard is that it don't last for more than a year if your someone who uses it constantly. Thanks again Andy.

My arrived today. First run and problem. The pressure stopped at 25 bar. I quickly located the leak. It turned out that I had to tighten the Weihrauch nipple onto the compressor hose adapter very tightly. Now it's OK. But it may be worth buying a uniform adapter with a quick connector tip (without thread).

Funny old thing your comment on buy cheap buy twice, I bought the 'blue' water cooled chinese thing (no names no pack drill) it was recalled last month by Amazon as it had a tendancy to go live in the electrical sense so it cost me a BSA replacement I did get my £250 back though

Had a cheap chinese one. Well, still over 300€. It lasted 3 fills before it blocked down completely. Got the Hill EC right now and I'm very pleased with it. I have 4 big bottle (all over 500CC) PCP guns and only during (very) hot summer days it needs to take a break to cool down during filling one up. 3 of my guns are 300 bar rated. So: this thing looks amazing, but I'm more then happy with my Hill. Since I mostly shoot in my backyard I feel no need for a 12V option. When, very rarely, I leave my garden I'm just taking along a scuba tank. So every once and a while the Hill needs to fill the tank with a few stops. Up to now it did so flawlessly. I'm a bit curious to find out your long time test results Andy. If the Hill ever quits, this might be a cheaper solution. Have a nice weekend! Cheers, Filip.

I've been running a cheap Chinese compressor for around 3 years now. I drained the oil when I bought it and put in some high grade compressor oil. It gets regularly used, and including a large 300BAR gauge I added, it cost under £200. If it breaks I will just buy another one. £800 is ridiculous considering you can get a compressor that will fill a divers bottle for just over £1000.

Yes please give us an update after a while. I still have my China Express unit but I am not happy with it so I am hoping it will fail soon so I can justify getting a new one. This looks like a unit I don't have to be scared when operating it as I do not trust my blue China special. My China unit is eating compressor oil as if it where free and the oil tank gasket leaks as well. Back when I bought it there where no reasonably priced alternatives. This unit is much better priced in Germany. Nice 👍

Sorry to bother you Andy but I’m in a bit of a pickle, now I am retired I feel like giving my knees a rest and with the ReadyAir @ £620 and the Hills ec 310 evo being £850 the choice is getting harder. Umarex doesn’t show any parts diagrams or spares availability, Hills shows everything but it’s a bit of an overkill for what I need. So I wondered how the ReadyAir is holding up, But I really want to support British companies and I know the parts will be available. So it would help my decision if you say that the Umarex is floundering slightly, so what do you say ! Then I won’t need to keep this video saved in my favourite section.👍

I imagine the Charcoal filter is to remove oil vapour from the pressurized air, it will not remove any moisture you need dessicant etc for that. How does the Umarex do that?. On ours we have a separate large Dessicant filter assembly, so we have no issues with moisture getting into rifle.
@jeremymoore16
@jeremymoore16 3 ай бұрын
It doesn't. Your pressurizing atmospheric air and humidity. So once you are at the needed pressure, the dew point inside of the airtank is going to be so high that you will have condensation in the tank. I made an air dryer for this unit. Dry's it down to almost 0% humidity. However, this adds an additional $400 to the price of the compressor. You would be better off buying a supply tank and taking it to a diving shop where they dry down the compressed air and having them fill it.

While it looks nice, it gets to hot and takes a long time to cool down. If you live in an area where it is hot it will take over 20 minutes just to get it down to high 80'S. Then after 20 hours you need to get a rebuild kit at a cost of $30 plus with shipping. If you shoot alot it will not last. Each time you use compressor it will takes longer and longer time to get up to pressure.
