I loved the moments Will had with Mike in season 2, when Mike was concerned with keeping his best friend safe and trying to understand his experience in the Upside Down. That moment with them in Mike’s basement at Halloween was so sweet. S3 was pretty low for me in terms of their relationship. Mike seemed to brush him off for Eleven, and Will was still wanting to hold on to his friend group, and needed support from others, but especially his best friend. In particular when they had spent the entirety of the second season together with Mike being the main support throughout Will’s possession

@@dibsdibs3495 it wasn’t that tho, it was the subtleties in his acting in that scene that got me, the entire scene he’s doing the exact opposite of screaming, he’s telling Mike something so insanely genuine while having to hide the actual meaning behind what he’s saying out of fear and selflessness. He’s doing everything he can not to cry throughout that whole interaction and at the end turns and cries into his hand. It’s such a heartbreaking scene because so many queer people see their own personal experience in it

I actually thought it was because when she was with max and vecna and vecna was like “look all your friends are dying lol” hopper was in one of the visions. So I just assumed from then on she knew he was alive.

I LOVED Eddie's character but his death was so stupid. His arc of "not running away" was like that one time he saw a girl die horrifically in front of his eyes and knew he was sus as hell being there lol it was totally understandable. It would have been cool if the motivation was something like, as a DM he was always playing the villain and now he had a chance to be a hero. Still, he had 0 idea of how the others were getting on and if his sacrifice would even help in the slightest. Or was he trying to make sure the bats didn't come through the portal? In the end it didn't matter because of the adults helping in Russia killed the bats like immediately after he died anyway. smh it fell so fucking flat.

I saw it as Eddie needed to lure the bats away from the gate otherwise the bats would have gotten both of them and then gone into the world. So he was saving Dustin by luring them away. Timing was trash because he was so close to not having to sacrifice himself at all. But he died a hero so bless him.

It was exactly like Bob's death just more stupid. Same coward to hero arc and then instead of running they just stand there (or in Eddie's case, go further into the upside down which was super fucking unnecessary) and then die. To be honest, he had nothing to lose because the town would've thrown him in jail but it was just so anticlimactic. After volume 1, i thought Steve or Eddie were gonna die but i was still in denial about Eddie because they gave us the "new character introduction and then dies in the end" storyline TWO TIMES IN A ROW. So i thought they wouldn't do it again. And the fact that they did do it again just shows that the writers have no balls. I was super disappointed with volume two and the writing in general this season. They did so amazing in volume 1 - except Will and mostly Mike's writing and the unnecessary love triangle between Nancy and the others. And then they gave us the fucking two days later timeskip and that left us with even more questions. What about Eddie's body? How did the group react? Where are Murray and Enzo? Hopper and El reunion was kinda lackluster. She didn't even call him dad. Like imagine, i would've been SOBBING lol

it was also resolved the moment he jumped into lovers lake after them. that’s when he stopped running. he even went back in to distract the bats. him fighting them achieved absolutely nothing besides getting him killed, it was so stupid. another thing: eddie plays a lot of dnd. he knows when to fight and when to run. he’s not fucking stupid, so why did he stay back to fight a swarm of bats for no reason? i’d be mad abt them killing him this season regardless, but they could’ve at least made it meaningful.

It honestly makes me really sad the Duffer brothers didn't do anything interesting with Will's character after season 2. Instead of El doing all the work with the monsters they could have used Will's conection with the upside down for something interesting, but they didn't expand more on it. Noah's performance is amazing and the fact that his character is so under used makes me mad!

El didn't really seem like Jesus since she probably just made Max's heart start beating again, like in the first season we see that she has the ability to control internal organs (like making the bully pee himself) so all she was doing was controlling another organ but this case it was the heart so it's not too far fetched. And for Eddie, his death was quite necessary, since the bats already entered the place and would probably all have gone back to guard Vecna's house and kill Nancy, Steve and Robin since they were still tangled up by that time. So his death really did give the others more time to "kill" Vecna by burning his body and shooting him while the bats were still distracted killing Eddie.

i think the fact that i was so anxious to see who was going to die is what made me so on edge for volume 2. it was a rollercoaster of emotions. eddies death really did not make sense at all which is disappointing because they could've done so much more with it, having a scene where he actually saves dustin instead of us having to guess what his motives were other than "i didn't run away this time". i understand he needed to die because there really wasnt coming back from how the town viewed him in volume 1 - his name would never have been cleared. there were some really cool scenes in the last episode, lucas watching max being lifted and almost dying, steve robin and nancy beating the shit out of vecna was super satisfying. but that scene sequence was lowkey ruined by mikes shitty motivation speech - which is the only thing he does for the entire show since season 1 and it wasn't even done well. maybe im biased because i hate his character but idk, he just feels like dead weight. overall i still love the show and am excited for the final season - hopefully the writing improves a bit.

Caleb, sadie, and noah had the best performances this season and noah’s character was basically destroyed so he didn’t have much to work with LOL. i don’t like what the duffer brothers did w will but i love how noah played him. the runtime was unavoidable to cover all 3 of the storylines happening and all the smaller storylines within that. honestly, it should’ve been longer because i felt like it was missing a lot (everyone else’s reaction to eddie, max, what happened to owens, enzo, murray, yuri, what are the particles actually, aren’t there still crazy townspeople after lucas erica mike dustin?). anyways u guys r crazy this show is amazing

Finn's acting for me personally was kind of dodgy this season. IDK, it feels like he's not trying in several scenes, even the lines feel like he's just narrating or reading the script. Noah, on the other hand I agree, he's definitely one of the top actors among the cast.

Honestly I think the main reason volume 2 was so Inconsistent was because the last two episodes were the ONLY ones written solely by the Duffer Brothers. Yeah, it's the beginning of the end after all. I have faith in the Duffer Brothers. This was, in my opinion, the best season of the show in terms of worldbuilding and narrative although The Bathtub is still my favorite episode of the show. I think people are a little hard on the show, I get it took 3 years to get this season but I feel they gave us enough to make it feel worth it. Were there dumb decisions? Yes, most definitely, but it didn't kill the show for me. Ig I'm just too optimistic

I thought I was the only one who felt like the last episodes were majorly underwhelming. And i'm sorry but I didn't really care that Eddie died. He's a really cool character but the writers screwed him over with his death scene. Literally what was he doing...? Stranger Things is known for introducing "lovable" characters so they can kill them off instead of taking the main characters. I love every single main character but this sucks lmao I really hope that they don't introduce anymore characters in the next season and they also give each MC a proper story line. I think that’s what he meant by buying more time. I think if he had that moment of “always running away” when he initially was on the rope back into Hawkins, it would tied it together more thoroughly than when he was already out with the bats. the whole reason he did that was to one 1. buy more time for the others to get to vecna (he didn’t know their plan was failing at that point and still thought he was helping them) and the other reason, the biggest one is he finally decided to stop running. that was his whole thing the entire season, he ran from things, and in the first episode he says “there’s no shame in running, you don’t need to be the hero, not today.” that’s why him going back out to the bats was significant, it was his character development. he wanted to actually help his friends and try to save hawkins instead of just running away, to be the hero he was always talking about. that’s why his death was powerful, he was finally a hero and he didn’t run.

The bats were like the “Guards” of the house. So if they weren’t busy with Eddie they would’ve gone back and killed all 3 of them. If u noticed when they entered the house they’re trying to step over the “Vines”. The earthquake happened and I believe it was “Robin” that stepped on a “Vine” and they all get caught. So basically if the “Bats” were there they would’ve not been able to even get into the house.

He distracted them with his music so that Nancy, Robin, and Steve could enter the unguarded house in order to kill Vecna. If he didn’t, the bats would’ve returned back to the house to kill Nancy, Robin, and Steve. In short: he saved Nancy, Robin, and Steve from dying.

Great season overall the best one since season one but when they brought max back to life and the final 30 minutes of the finale left a bad taste in my mouth. The mission to go to the upside down was a suicide mission yet only one character died, Eddie's guitar scene was one of the coolest things I've seen and Hopper fighting the demogorgon with a sword was very badass. Mike will and Johnathan are basically useless, Will is still connected to the upside down but they don't do anything with that, there's too many characters. Steve is still the best character, wouldn't have minded if he had a hero death too since he opened up to Nancy about his dream of having a family with her, if he had died it would've been sad but a great way to finish off his story. Eleven getting a pep talk and saving the day again by screaming is not cool anymore, find more creative ways to have these beings with these abilities fight each other. Vecnas expositions dumps are insufferable and his "death" meant nothing bc s5 was announced before 4 so of course he wasn't going to die. This season should've ended after Max dies, she dies no one brings her back to life, the gates start opening and the upside down creatures start invading Hawkins, the heroes think they got vecna but vecna gets back up instead of disappearing and ends in a cliffhanger instead of a 2 days later where max is alive again and Hawkins is hurt but still basically fine and a big back cloud appears in the sky showing that this isn't over because we already know it isn't.

Those last two episodes were BRUTAL to get through! I don't like the storyline in Russia, it was really boring the entire season, I generally don't like the storylines with the adults, but the actual action in the last 30 mins of the ep and the reunion between Hopper and El was great! I just wish they would actually kill one of the main people that have been around since the beginning, otherwise it takes the stakes away for me, I don't want them to just kill characters in the last season when that would give the audience and the characters no time to grieve the characters. Vol 1 was perfect, the pacing was great and overall it left me wanting for more. I couldn’t wait for Vol 2 but after watching it I’m left not wanting any more to be honest. I think they should of done the infinity war route and after killing Vena with Hawkins falling apart should of been the last shot of the season with no explanations or hints as to what happens next. Would of told enough to the audience that this is not the end and season 5 will be the real finale. Overall vol 2 had its moments but no where near had the same impact I had watching vol 1.

I wonder if the people that don't like interaction between characters are actual fans of the show. A lot of the show relies on you liking the characters and caring about what they say. They purposefully added a lot of talk about the future and goals so we could feel anyone could die at any moment. If a character makes plans or talks about their dreams, it usually means they're getting killed off.

I personally found Noah's acting to be pretty great. That scene where Will is conveying his love to Mike but disguising it as how El feels really hit home to me. Especially when you consider everything Will has gone through and how he still continues to put everyone else before himself. Finn was a bit shaky, I'll admit, but I otherwise loved the two of them. And it can also be excused as Mike being this really awkward teenage who isn't used to talking about his feelings. Really hoping for Will to step back into the spotlight for S5. Perhaps confess to Mike, help take down Vecna. Finding happiness for more than 5 minutes. The show began with him, and it should end with him.

@@_scriblr_1010 I think Mike has a horrible case of internalized homophobia honestly. A key point to all the wheeler’s arcs (the ones who actually get arcs) is realizing that the nuclear family lifestyle they’re trapped in is miserable and they want to break out of it. We see it in season one with Nancy, we see it in season 3 with Karen even if it wasn’t through the best means, but we’re seeing the opposite with Mike. Season three he is doing exactly what is expected of him from society the entire time, to an extent where it seems like he’s compensating for something. The insistence on having a girlfriend only to be followed by him being straight up annoyed at her breaking up with him. He’s not sad or angry, he’s annoyed. Follow that up with his weird behavior at the end of season three when el tells him she loves him, he doesn’t close his eyes when she kisses him and he barely if at all kisses back, while he’s standing directly in front of an open closet. And then beginning of season four we see him looking up to Eddie whose entire message is “forced conformity is killing the kids” and he seems to be subconsciously very attracted to that message. Then he gets to California and refuses to hug will at the airport, feels the need to emphasize the fact that he and will are friends as if will was implying they were something more, which he wasn’t, and then he can’t say I love you to his girlfriend who’s standing in front of him sobbing. He’s only able to say I love you to her once will tells him to, and he uses the words will gave him to do it. Parallel that to the shed scene in season two where Mike is trying to break through to a possessed will where everything he says is entirely his own and it feels genuine. With his monologue to El he’s seemingly just stating a bunch of facts as if he’s telling a story rather than an emotional encounter, and then he goes on to say el is his ‘superhero’ because he doesn’t understand that what he feels towards her is almost like a hero worship thing. I do think he loves El but I don’t think it’s romantically and I think they need to have a very long discussion about it with each other and end things with a mature, mutual breakup while staying close friends to develop both of them as individual characters. I probably wrote way too much and it might not make sense sorry I just have a lot of thoughts on this lmao

He always was but since he’s lost so many people, he’s stopped giving his feelings away. His arc seems to be a kid who gave his all but lost too much so his heart grew dark. I just think Duffers haven’t given him enough screen time so it doesn’t seem that way. They’re telling us his story instead of showing. Instead, we see other characters. i really loved vol. 1 and i was so excited for vol. 2 but it didn’t meet any expectations that the vol. 1 set. i think the first 7 episodes had nice pacing and the plot was interesting and there were so many unexpected or exciting or agitating plot twists that kept us all on the edge of our seats. even when there was not much action, it was at the very least entertaining, but the last two episodes were very drawn out and it just didn’t have the effect they probably hoped for. it felt like i was watching the last twilight movie where everything was actually not real and everyone was actually fine and whatever let’s move on to the happy ending. they just put way less effort into this part in both plot and execution and it was more of a prologue to the last season but it didn’t have to be boring. even the salt bath part, i remember being so amazed by the one in the first season and this one left me cold. it’s so confusing how el’s supposedly so powerful but needs 200 pep talks and immense pressure to do her screaming thing. overall, i’m mad at them for half-assing the second part, but i really hope s5 pays off.

Part of me wonders if it would've been less noticeable if they didn't split it up that way and just released it all together as usual. If Eddie didn't distract the bats they would've killed Nancy, Steve, and Robin while they were being choked to death by the vines. Maybe you guys didn't realize it but the point of the whole plan was for Eddie and Dustin to distract the bats long enough so the 3 could get to the house safely. So by the time the bats realized Nancy, Steve, and Robin were near Vecna it would be too late to attack them because they would've already killed him. So Eddie staying longer to distract the bats saved their lives.

I feel like they totally copped out of killing an og character by putting Max in a coma. Because I feel like that also diminishes the threat of Vecna. Especially seeing as how they’ve already had Eleven beat him. Thus kinda making a rematch between them kinda pointless.

Y’all clearly forgot that the upsidedown is a hive mind. The bats were a threat bc once vecna was attacked they would feel it too and attack. Nancy, Robin, & Steve were saved bc the Demigorgons’ deaths hurt the vines. Everything would have made more sense if y’all remembered that 😂

I honestly couldn't believe Nancy didn't die, she was so heroic this season that it felt like she was going to sacrifice herself, and her weird emotional cheating was gonna be a fake out or something? Really confused as to why Eddie died and not one of the main three teens. The last two episodes just felt so dumbed down compared to the other episodes or season 1 & 2, like we don't need eight million flashbacks, people have enough critical thinking to realize "omg it was Vecna the whole time".

She didn't revive her, she just used her powers to make her heartbeat, sorta like a more intense CPR. But at the end it clearly shows us she isn't in her head anymore, maybe signifying she's brain dead, not sure but it will definitely come into play next season.

And yeah, Max is definitely brain dead. Maybe that’s why El didn’t say anything. She might have felt guilty for bringing her back even though she’s still not “back.”

I agree with yall completely. This last episode just too many miracles. Like hopper being able to kill the demagorgon with a convenient sword (where did it come from? And why a sword? I thought fire was the only way to kill demagorgons??) after broken ankles and 10 months of malnutrition? No way that would happen. Also didnt like max surviving with ?the power of friendship? like huh? All of her limbs broke and she was bleeding from the eyes, how is she alive!! Anyways, not a fan of this season.

I love Hopper and would've thrown up if he died but I agree completely. I never even noticed his ankle magically healing. He should've gotten an infection from that...I also love Max and would've cried if she died the first time but the writers are dragging it. The writers/creators of this show are too attached to their MC's. Max, Steve and Hopper were supposed to die. Probably more that i'm unaware of lmao And I'm not a huge fan of the music aspect in this show.

noah is definitely one of the best actors on the show but the duffers and shawn don’t use him to his potential and his lines were pretty bad this season. along with the facts the duffers completely ruined the arcs of most of the characters along with changing their entire personality’s. but i agree the time skip was stupid

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who found this season to be lacking in several areas - I'll always enjoy Stranger Things, but I don't get the intense love for this season whatsoever. The writing/character depth was completely off and there was a lot of unnecessary filler that really broke away from the overall immersion for me. Some episodes could have been condensed or shortened as well.

there's something about the last seasons of shows where the writing falls off badly. i feel weird abt the cliff hang like they really should've won the battle and just ended the show. i feel like netflix is milking it for all it's worth, at the expense of creating new shows w fresh ideas. I feel like Mike IS the heart of the friend group. He always was but since he’s lost so many people, he’s stopped giving his feelings away. His arc seems to be a kid who gave his all but lost too much so his heart grew dark. I just think Duffers haven’t given him enough screen time so it doesn’t seem that way. They’re telling us his story instead of showing. Instead, we see other characters. Mike deserves his arc back so he can prove to the fan base again that he IS the heart. his friend group sees what we don’t see. That’s why he is still seen as the heart for the rest of the kids.
