The film and cinematography is incredibly stylized and the director was very brave with the way she took on the project. Considering the story itself, I think it had the potential to be much more “hateable”. If you watch some interviews or bts you can quickly see how creative the director was with their limited budget, issues with location, and commitment to doing key scenes justice. They had to use their vfx budget so sparingly, and I was really amazed by their creativity and resourcefulness. It must have been daunting to tackle so much action and supernatural characters with very limited vfx. Regardless of one’s opinion of the final product, I believe that the production serves as a great case study of the directorial choices that were made that facilitated so much success and box office return along with the frenzy that catapulted the careers of the actors and author. PERSONALLY, I have this perception that the cinematography is actually amazing in how it creates the viewers’ understanding of the story and characters. If you think about it, the overall run and gun style and camera work in the forest is quite similar to that of the horror documentary genre. It provides the feeling of the thrilling investigation that Bella is immersed in. It gives an eerie feeling that we’ve stumbled into a world we don’t understand, and we’re trying to keep up and stabilize ourselves. I could go on, but even as a film buff that tends to be reserved about praising films, I am not ashamed to acknowledge the great features of the production. This is so long, but I had to mention the cinematography lmao

I know the twilight franchise isnt great. But it did get unnecessarily shit on because it was aimed at teen girls. My friends and I love these films but we also make fun of Edward and Jacob every time they’re on screen. So it’s refreshing to see a video about twilight that isn’t just “this is cringe. End of video” By all means, make fun of it, but it’s cool seeing them talk about the good with the bad
