Great tutorial. Thank you Just a note on the ATEM Mini Pro & Photoshop CC2020: If one saves the files - PNG or TGA - with transparency, one has to disable the 'Pre Multiplied Key' option in the Downstream Key. Otherwise the transparency does not work correctly. The sample PNG files work OK. Direct export from PS to the ATEM works OK too. I did struggle to save a useable file from PS until I tried unchecking the said button on the ATEM mgmt s/w. Again - thanks for the tutorial and the reviews.

Thanks for sharing some really good info here. I just found out yesterday that if you use a an older mac that can run CamTwist with a capturecard in it like the Intensity Pro or a Camlink USB capturecard and route the HDMI out from the mini in to the capturecard you can do all that a little easier and even more and still use all what´s build in to the Atem Mini series. The mini will show up in CamTwist as a webcam.

Hi Aaron and thank you for all the information I found here 🙏 You are fantastic! I am wondering if there is some simple way how to switch between two RTMP sources. I would love show 60 minutes countdown but still, be able to prepare my ATEM Mini Pro setup for the streaming session during these 60 minutes. So something dedicated just for the countdown. I tried to stream from two devices with the same RTMP KZbin key, but KZbin gives me an error saying something like "there are multiple sources".. Thank you for your time ❤
@aaronpk2 жыл бұрын
60 minutes is quite a long countdown, I would suggest maybe limiting the countdown timer to 10 minutes tops, which would give you 50 minutes to prepare ahead of time. If you really want to keep things the way you've got it set up and don't want to add new hardware, you could stream the countdown timer to KZbin's backup URL. When you're ready to go live, you'd stream with the ATEM to the primary URL, youtube won't switch over automatically, but if you stop streaming the countdown timer then KZbin will switch over to the primary stream.

So many things did not match between the video and my photoshop and Atem software control, but I got it to almost work... Thanks for the video Aaron. I'm looking ATEM Mini Pro mostly as a Chroma keyer (to key live taking head video shot on green against various video backgrounds) as as a web-cam for video conferences. Right now I'm doing it all in software on the laptop I use for video conferencing (ManyCam software on Mac w/ a AJA U-Tap to HDMI->USB). I'd love to get the Chromakey work off the computer. Since I want the backgrounds to be animated, it seems like an HDMI input is the only way to go. I'm wondering if you considered a HyperDeck Studio Mini as the HDMI source for the background graphics? I realize this is probably overkill.
@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
That'd definitely work! I've been using the hyperdeck studio mini a bit lately to play prerecorded conference talks thru my computer as a webcam. There's a really cool feature with the integration which is the ATEM mini can control the hyperdeck so you can have it start playing when the ATEM switches to the input the hyperdeck is on. The hyperdeck can also be scripted with macros so you can load different media with physical buttons on your desk!
@markgervase8224 жыл бұрын
Thumbs up to you. Just curious, on ATEM mini pro, have you had any weird false color look on channel 1 input? I found that inputting a wireless signal feed into 1 gave me the false color look. Same wireless into 2,3,4 were normal color. Hardwire all the way on 1 input yielded proper normal results. BMD had no answer for it. This issue also shows on their forum.
@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the color space the HDMI transmitter is using, RGB vs YUV. I'm guessing the particular wireless transmitter you're using is fixed to one color space instead of negotiating it via HDMI. Input 1 on the ATEM Mini is special because it can do a pure pass-through to the HDMI output. I'm not exactly sure how that overlaps with the color space issue, but must be related.

OK. I understand all the benefits of doing this direct from the switcher. But the atem software crashes, as does photoshop, when I try to connect them. So much easier to just do this in Wirecast or OBS. I am finding way too many bugs in the ATEM. Having said that... your videos ROCK. So much better than anything blackmagic is offering. For me, you are the ATEM goto guide. And the blackmagic control has one of the worst UX designs I have ever experienced. Obviously made by developers who have no UX experience. So hard to use. Thank you for making it easier.
@Zoran18994 жыл бұрын
So You do not like OBS for graphics because You need a computer. But both other offered methods also need a computer. I think the OBS offers the best solution since you can use that for other things to. But it was great to see that there are other solutions too.
@Robinlarsson833 жыл бұрын
The main difference is that if the computer that does the graphics dies mid-show, you only loose the graphics and can reboot the computer. When (not if) OBS or the computer running OBS crashes, the stream is dead and show is over until you can restart and get back on air with a lot of fiddling around. Also, it's a lot harder for a computer to encode video and run OBS real time and push it to the internet than it is to run a simple lightweight graphics software like H2R Graphics and maybe even something like Companion to control your Streamdeck. You could probably run H2R Graphics on a really small cheap computer, maybe even Raspberry Pi (think there is a Linux version of H2R Graphics now). Running OBS as encoder really needs a fairly powerful computer. It's almost always better to let dedicated hardware/firmware handle things that they can handle and use computers for the other, less demanding things, in mission-critical applications.
