Now this is very interesting. Many live streamers are trying to solve their Audio sync issue (I include myself in that). The oversight is that the sync issue is not at all the audio but more so the video frame rate. For instance, I use the Sony a7riv for streaming using 1080p 60fps but when looking in the specs for this camera the frame rate is 59.94fps. Good to know there is a frame rate adjustment setting for that in the Atem's software.

Great breakdown. I wasn't even thinking about audio mixing using the device. So as an example, let's say I wanted to use the camera 1 audio as my only audio for some reason (like it has XLR). If you set it up in the software, are you able to make it so that the cam 1 audio stays the active audio source, even when you switch to another camera?

Yes! You'd use the "on" button on camera 1 audio rather than the "AFV" (auto-follow-video) option. You can do this from the buttons on the device or from within the audio mixer in the software.

I've been using the ATEM Mini with streamyard, but in that mode really it's just the webcam output from the ATEM that's being used and it shows up as one of the cameras in streamyard. The only advantage of the ATEM Mini Pro in that situation is the multiview out, since you can't stream from the Pro hardware itself to streamyard, only as a webcam through the computer.

Do you think Motion graphics or animated transparent (alpha channel) videos/animations would be available in future software updates? Seems like a very simple program modification to allow this? Even if it were a paid added feature
@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
Doubtful. Motion graphics is a huge amount of software, and even the high end ATEMs don't have anything like that. The higher end ATEMs do have video playback so you can load in animations, but that requires additional hardware and memory on the device to support it so i don't expect to see that coming to the Mini line.

Thank you very much for this vid excellent. Can multiviewing be done using macro's via streamdeck? Even if it could be done using greenscreen would be a plus. I want to buy the Atem mini but for the lack of this feature. Great work on the xml files by the way. I'm fishing for a workaround to setup multiscreen with multi view features. I have a lot of monitors here setup so I can view everything that is cued and ready, going blind is not my thing. Showing those various multi views live at times would also be good gimmick and a great to be able to do at times.
@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, there's just no option to have a multiview on the ATEM Mini right now. You could do it by hooking up some external devices for it, but at that point you'll have spent the cost of the next ATEM model up so you might as well get that one instead.
@KandMe14 жыл бұрын
@@aaronpk Yeah I have been looking into that saw it in a road case in another of your vids thanks
@KandMe14 жыл бұрын
@@aaronpk Hi Aaron I think there might be a workaround for this. I'm thinking just now it's possible using a macro, a stream deck, a lattepanda or some other single board mini computer using html pages, browser on full screen but it would require a good database, there is likely to already be an open source app that would do the job. What do you think?
@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure exactly what you have in mind, but the only thing the HDMI out can show is the program out or preview of the next camera. There's no way to output all of the inputs from the Mini. You could absolutely get a multiview if you built it outside the Mini. I've been thinking about doing that just for a video, but it'll cost like $800 in parts to do it, which is a little much.

Yes, the ATEM Mini is for HDMI cameras. "Webcams" are typically just USB, but there are some now that have HDMI as well (OBSBOT Tail Air). The only video switcher at this price point that takes (1) USB webcam input is the OSEE GoStream Deck, here's a demo of it I did recently: kzbin.infojFcPh0kflag and kzbin.infot6AKJPYdtHU Other options for switchers that take USB webcams are the YoloBox and the Magewell Director Mini, but they are more expensive than the ATEM Mini Pro.

The ATEM buttons can't be configured to run macros, but there is a setting on the ATEM Mini that will disable any active keyers when a camera angle is switched to. I haven't tried this myself but I think it would work in your case. The setting is part of the setup app, not the software control app.

@aaronpk4 жыл бұрын
I have those same Vixia cameras, and while they're not the best, they're also totally fine especially for the price. I would actually recommend them especially if you're just starting out, because anything that's going to get you a significant bump in quality is going to bump the price up to at least $1000 per camera. You'll also need some sort of good microphone, either plugged into the cameras or plugged into the ATEM Mini itself. There's also lighting to think about, but you can get by with careful placement around the windows in your room to start. The gaming laptop will be able to record and livestream from the Mini so that should be about it!

The USB output (of both) will be a compressed webcam version of the signal. The Pro is USB 3 where the regular Mini is USB 2, so it's possible the pro might provide a higher quality signal, but I'll have to test that once I get mine! Recording from the HDMI output into a dedicated recorder from either device will be the same. Using the built-in recording feature of the Pro will record the h264 stream that it pushes out on the livestream, so that will probably be better than the webcam, but worse than using an external HDMI recorder like the Blackmagic Video Assist. This is all based on what I've seen in the announcements so far, I'll have to test this stuff out in more detail once I get mine in!

Hi Aaron, I had a quick question. Are each of the Mic 1 and Mic 2 inputs mono or stereo. If i need to input a stereo signal from the Audio mixer what would be the best way. Thanks

They are both stereo! And you can even split the stereo signal into dual mono and mix them separately if you want!

Do I need a separate capture card with this switcher?

Nope! If you plug this in to your computer via USB-C, then it appears as a webcam on the computer!
