love the videos mate, ive owned many vauxhalls in my time, mainly Corsa C's. one with z20leh conversion, astra mk4's and an astra vxr running 386bhp with garret GT3076 etc.... but never done any of the work myself as i'm afraid ill not tighten something up properly or connect things the wrong way or bleed something incorrectly...however i've watched loads of your videos now and feel like i could probably give a few things a good try myself using your videos as a guide if need be! So i might even buy another... PLEASE keep the vids coming mate, im sure we all really appreciate all the little tips you let us in on....you're really entertaining to watch, i hope your channel takes off and you get some recognition for your hard work and Vauxhall knowledge (y)

By the time you've finished this will look better than when it first rolled out the factory!!! I love those GSIs, especially in red, as it reminds me of my Astra GTE 16v that I was thrashing about back in the 90s. Great job mate!!!

@@IOTWVUVWTOI nah, these GSIs have a better chassis, way better build quality (and galvanised bodywork means a lot less rust) the Mk2 Astra was the most stolen car of it's time too (I remember looking at several for sale and nearly all had their locks broken by thieves!) the standard security is much better, they're faster and they look a lot more modern and aerodynamic. I loved my 16 valve (I had also owned a 1.8 GTE before that) it was the early Coscast 156bhp Red Top, but I knew of its shortcomings.

@@davidkennedy1077 I'm well aware of it's short comings having owned several GTE's. Sadly it didn't handle as well as it should have but suspension and chassis upgrades helped alot. Comparing cars built in two different decades is pointless in terms of build quality, chassis etc. E30 is legendary but comparing that to an e46 chassis wise is just silly. Of course the e46 has a far better chassis. The GTE is an 80s hatch (still sold in 92) and the mk4 was what 98/99? GTE is legendary. Comparing mk4 and mk2 Astra is like comparing a mk4 and mk2 Golf (ironically mk3 from both camps wasn't as good as the mk2 or mk4). Both mk3s had good engines though vr6 and the early mk3 still came with redtop until they brought in the ecotech engines 🤢 Newer motors habe the edge handling wise and build quality wise but they just don't compare to 80s motors. Driving them hard put a hair on your chest. They had more "character" is every department. More unique too. The points you've made are valid mate. Just think it's too easy to make them and not appreciate why those points are valid if you get what I mean? This GSi is a cracker but i would take an equally clean GTE over the GSi everytime.

@@IOTWVUVWTOI yeah they definitely had character. I used to love that GTE, and used to do 130+mph in it daily down the A120 near my house. It was a hell of a great engine, the best 16 valve for many years and even the chassis could be learned, so the car could be made to dance (lift off oversteer flicks round mini roundabouts etc!) This GSI reminds me of it, same colour and stubby/stocky looks. But having now grown accustomed to more modern cars, I really dont think I could go back to an old school Hot Hatch. Things have progressed so far, build and safety wise, that I think I'd be better remembering my years with my Red GTE 16V through my rose tinted glasses.

Fond memories of my GTE in white with the Burberry interior, cavalier sri with the GSi bonnet (helped hide the wipers), leather interior etc, Calibra in various forms, Nova with the rally chassis kit and a redtop... Nowadays I prefer German motors but I still miss the "good old days".

Amazing work mate. I’ve watched all of your videos and your attention to detail is amazing. Great to see another red GSi being kept on the road. I was at VBOA and there was a genuine red GSi there that someone had been given to break for parts but he kept it and freshened it up. I’ve got a Phase 1 Corsa B Sport in flame red with a fresh respray just need to start doing the underneath now. These videos give me the inspiration to spend all my money at Vauxhall on parts 😂😂

This bolt is either for the front / back motor hook holder on the cylinder head or for the original crankshaft pulley

Mate that gorgeous and clean I would be scared to drive it. BUT! As soon a a stone or something hits the underside it will chip the paint , I would have used raptor liner underneath as you can dye it any colour and will be 100 times tougher, but stunning none the less mate

It wont chip It has 3 coats upol gravitex i just used to thinners to create a smooth finish.
