I worked for 28 years in a State Prison before I retired. On one occasion, we had an inmate die of Asthma. He was taken by ambulance to the local hospital morgue. I was the Warden's Assistant so I was instructed to go with the Coroner to the morgue so the Coroner could finish his report. The morgue looked a lot like the one you guys were in, in this video. Our guy was on a top shelf and the Coroner was not able to get appropriate pictures. Our inmate's head was turned toward the wall and rigor mortis had set in, so he could not turn the head for a picture. He asked me if I would be willing to climb up on the shelf and take a picture of the inmate's face. Just another day at the office, so I did it. I climbed right up there, snapped a few shots and climbed down. Those people will never know the lengths I went to, to do what it took to get the job done. The morgue you guys went into brought all that back to me. I really like your channel, you do a great job.

Once blood is exposed to air it is bright red, as it sits & coagulates it turns black. It only takes about 24 hrs for blood to turn black... First thing I note: HIPAA wasn't passed until 1996, so if the hospital was abandoned prior to that date HIPAA policies wouldn't apply. On top of that, in the first ten years of HIPAA's enactment, it was more a guideline rather than a set of rules. Punative action was rare. Later in the video, you mentioned that the hospital side hadn't closed until earlier that year, so by technicality, they patient records were simply in 'storage.' Secondly, your 'lung:' Formalin is a solution of formaldehyde in water. Formaldehyde evaporates as a gas, and within a year or two any solution in that jar would no longer be preserving the sample. However, that jar has absolutely no liquid in it at all, and any boilogical specimen that had been in there would have long since decomposed. Therefore, your 'lung' is most likely some piece of debris a prior 'urban explorer' has left in the jar as some sort of joke. Third: All three are all autopsy tables. The smaller one on the end looks to be equipped with a down-draft, which prevents excessive smells from filling the room. The other two are standard L-shaped autopsy tables. Fourth: The computer at 5:29 looks to have a Windows 95 or 98 sticker, which suggests that the hospital closed in the late 1990s to early 2000s, which would also explain the ammount of files left behind. Fifth: Most of those slides probably do not have blood on them. The red colour is definately from a stain, as even when examining blood, only a drop or two is required. The red colour of those stains is a dye used to better view cells under a light microscope, and most of those slides, since this room is next to the autopsy room and filled with autopsy reports, are likely stained tissue samples from the autopsies for further examination in the lab. Sixth: The machine in the labs is a Shandon Varistain 24-3 slide stainer, which is used to stain the slides for the labs next door. Here's a link to the same model without the plexiglass containment chamber. ibid.illinois.gov/item.php?id=226251

Leaving records behind is a common problem. It's a shame people's personal lives are at risk of being exposed because institutions are too cheap or lazy to either destroy or otherwise secure the records. The organs being left is just outright negligence, if someone was playing with those jars, the bigger danger to thier health is the exposure to formaldehyde. It was nice of the construction workers to just escort The Proper People off the grounds instead of calling the cops.
@ikeyschultz49694 жыл бұрын
I kind of wonder if someone had previously set up that jar with a set of animal lungs for a photo. Like the morgue table with the flag draped over it. Leaving behind histology slides and files is one thing (though be it absurdly negligent). Entire human organs though? Possible, but just seems so crazy.

Actually, this labratory is in realatively good condition. I did not see a lot of water damage, and though the scrappers have come through and there is damage to the ceilings, the majority of the rest of it looks to be in good shape. From the looks of things, they tried to paint over the tiles, which never works very well. That's why the paint is all peeling, but the tiles and walls themselves look to be in really good condition. Probably the most challenging part of renovation would be the ceilings, as it appears that the scrappers destroyed almost all of it in their endevours for copper wire. Still, with a drop-down ceiling, new electricity, HVAC, and probably plumbing, you would have a working and functioning lab area.

@johnmichaell25054 жыл бұрын
Probably not. The tiles were common in the 70s and 80s, which is when lead paint was banned, so they probably would not have been painted over until the late 80s or 90s. It's peeling so bad because paint doesn't stick well to tile, since the lack of a porous surface means it won't stick well. I would say that the paint job wasn't done more than 5 years before the hospital closed.
@johnsweeney60724 жыл бұрын
John Michael L ok I was talking about doors n walls I’m no pro but since the dwelling is way older than the 70 -80s new paint has to be painted over old paint with was lead based back when they were built. I could also be thinking of another video of there’s that was in older dwellings who knows cheers
@johnmichaell25054 жыл бұрын
@@johnsweeney6072 The tiles they used were popular during the 70s, which means that the building was renovated around then. Any paint that would have been used then would likely have been lead-based, since lead paint stuck better than other types. But the paint that was over top the tile was likely painted on after the ban went into effect, so the peeling paint on the tiled walls is likely not lead. However, the ceiling tiles could very well have been asbasteos, which ould be bad seeing as they've been disturbed pretty badly by the scrappers.
