In today's video we go back to Summer of 2018 when I visited the historic Westborough Psychiatric Center. Now set for demolition ,barely anything remains on the property while watching this video. The intro footage was shot and edited by Jason Allard all credit goes to him. If you enjoy the video leave a thumbs up and subscribe for more historic videos.

Its sad that historical places like these get just torn down. Hundreds of years of history and medical use just gone (for better or worse. ) hopefully you enjoyed the video as Westborough State Hospital is now almost at the last phase of demolition :( big shout out to Jason Allard for allowing me to use his video. Link in my bio for his channel as well as a Wikipedia link for the hospitals history! Enjoy your day !

Hey great video and glad I was able to help with the project. This is probably the most comprehensive view of Westborough between the aerial shots, interior explore, history, and commentary. A shame this place is almost completely demolished now. Nice work, Devin! For anyone interested in more drone shots of abandoned places, the opening sequence is from my Abandoned from Above series. You can see the rest of the series at my channel. Thanks!

I worked at Worcester State hospital for over 27 years. The unit with the painting was done by patients and staff to brighten up the place. Some of the seclusion rooms were turned into admission offices or supervisor offices for that unit. In the early years all of the state hospitals were self sufficient. Worcester was a dairy farm, Grafton state provided clothes, westboro provided shoes. Groundskeepers would drive the goods from each hospital to the others.

I'm from the area, a lot of awful things happened at this place as well as the Worcester location. (The old Worcester asylum). It's known for being "haunted" and people would see how long they could spend the night without being completely creeped out. Obviously, it would cost way too much money to keep up on the maintenance on a large place such as this. It's sad to think what went on here in the early days of medical technology, but this is our history, and without it, we wouldn't be where we are today in getting people proper care. Thank you for sharing this.

I’ve lived down the street from this place for 16 years I remember when it was still open. I have a distinct memory of being told to stay indoors as a patient had escaped and was running through the woods. It’s sad to see it go, even more sad to know that the land is set to become 55+ housing. But I guess all things end eventually.

@@stevexray6253 that's what i figured. i mean it makes sense for bigger items but i highly doubt they would save any paper items at all. those probably go straight to the trash. it would be SO interesting to keep those, keep them in an album or as interesting coffee table piece.
