I would love to buy places like this and restore them. I think old places need to be restored and turn them back to what they used to be. This place here has ties to Martin Luther King Jr. This should be saved. This is part of history. It's a wild and cool place.

The "little caskets" are actually miniature samples of burial vaults, since full-sized ones would be too large and heavy to display in the selection room.
@highlyfavored45954 ай бұрын
THOSE ARE NOT BABY CASKETS, THEY ARE SAMPLES!
@AngelaEaster8 ай бұрын
The "baby caskets" you are referring to as samples of the burial vaults. The vaults are made of concrete and are placed in the ground and the casket is then placed inside and sealed. This protects the casket over time from caving in from the dirt and elements, rain, flooding, etc.
@Taledanoneya7 ай бұрын
Does it really help over the period of times ? Just curious
@AngelaEaster7 ай бұрын
@@Taledanoneya I would think so. Think of it like when you see the above ground graves in concrete. If you can remember Hurricane Katrina images of caskets floating down the streets, well more than likely those were just buried down in the dirt without a burial vault. The casket itself should be okay but of course the body will still eventually go through the decay process.
@Taledanoneya7 ай бұрын
@@AngelaEaster right exactly. I thought so. I always wanted to know. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I have another question. Does the body decay slower if a person was buried inside a mausoleum?

Yeah, I worked in Kingstree, at radio station, and people didn't like to go around that place. The " haints" might get em. Cool old claw foot tub. That was mosquito larva, in that water upstairs. Hard pressed county, Williamsburg is .

Why are there so many homes just left. Nothing sold to help pay the back taxes. The hearses before they rotted away, but the engines might be ok. Then the furniture and stained glass windows such a waste. Even caskets are left actual ones and samples. Imagine having funeral homes segregated even in death you are not good enough. Bet if the had organs that could be donated they wouldn’t ask what colour skin they had. I remember how strange it was to hear that coloured people were not allowed to mix with whit. My best friend at school was Patrick his mum explained racism to me. I think l was about six. She didn’t use the word racism just said they were different. I really didn’t get it at all how were they different? The whole thing is still mad to me.

While working at a funeral home, one must be on call 24 hours daily, to be ready to collect the bodies of the deceased from places such as nursing homes. Reasons to have a sleeping quarters. If you read back just a few decades into Black American history you will find information that should enlighten you deeply .

The small boxes are samples of burial vaults ,you put the casket down into the vault and then the top is sealed onto it then the dirt goes into the grave .The vault samples are miniature because they weigh a ton and it’s not feasible to have them on display .You choose which one you want from the samples.
