Susan Sack it looks sound enough to remodel, that's what I do. Yes that woodwork can be saved, what's ruined can be replaced. I seen some pex in the bathroom under the sink, that hasn't been around more than 20 years. So it hasn't been abandoned long.

At this point, it would cost more to restore it than it would to just bulldoze and build another house. That's what's sad about it. If it had been kept up over the years, then yeah, restore that bish. But if this thing has been empty since the 50s, you'd have to completely strip the wiring and the walls and redo them. The floor has to be completely redone. The foundation definitely has to be redone. I'm sure the pipes would have to be updated-- it would seriously just be cheaper to bulldoze and potentially build a replica.

At--7:31-- The old piano looks like at one time it had been a player piano. Look in front of the keys & you can see the levers. What a shame places like this are just let to fall down. You could picture folks sitting on the porch after the animals were taken care of & the chores were done. I'll bet the winters there were bad.

Ahhh the memories this house must have of happier times, and I so love the way you include music, nature sounds, thereby giving respect to the place, rather than so many others that jus dive in , show you quick snippets with their voiceover "impressions".... almost always meaning nothing and disrespecting the history of the place and the people who HAD LIVES THERE ! Good work ! I will live vicariously through your finds to discover those places that have such history and interesting stories!

Parker you have probably noticed in alot of old homes you film have been ramsacked and anything that has worth is ripped out and taken. Like the banasters to the stairs here are gone! I bet they were beautiful wood! We had an old house just like this in the family and it had 5 fireplaces and someone came in to steal and detached the beautiful mantels from the walls to take at some time later, but we beat them to it and they were taken to storage for safe keeping! Love your videos!

I bet this house was super back in it's day. Several staircases. Creepy, kind of. The bathroom had been updated. The toilet would have had a box with a pull chain above it. We had one. I like touring the grave yards to see how old the graves are.

There is a very interesting history behind the people that lived there. He was a Deserter from the Confederate Army (Company H , 33rd. Va. Infantry) August of 1862. Was a preacher for a local church from 1878 to 1915 and had 7 children. He was the last of his 8 brothers and sisters to die.

My grandmas sister and brother played music. There mom would teach every child. She died from child birth when my grandma was 5. Then her dad two years later so she never learned how. My grandma said he was so sad that he got sick and died from a broken heart. He never got over her. Love have been forgotten are love like that. Sorry just the old stuff takes me back. I remember being in homes like that. Wish l could go back in time and live when people talked to each other . Would help you if you didn’t have money to fix your car. But l remember them . We never locked are doors we would play out side tell 2pm at night mom never looked for us. We where free and now you have to stay in your house. Kids can’t play out side it’s sad. So sad . Sorry just takes me back when you could live with out fear.

Man, I can't read those graves! You should look those people up. You know, if you're really quiet, you can hear the echoes of the memories through the wind. That's what I think. It's happened to be before on my grandparents derelict old property where we all spent so many years before they passed and the mines took over. Memories hang in the air forever and any place that has experienced love, hate, etc, the residual memories stick in the space time Continuum and if you focus, you can hear it. Call me crazy, but you go to an abandoned house that you know saw years of emotions, love, happiness, sadness, despair, and listen. You'll hear it.
