Old houses like this make me sad, such good bones and you can just imagine a family full of life living there . Its a shame it is left to rot

We all start as dust & return to dust,even houses. It is a life to death cycle,even homes experience this.

@Rich H That is different,all houses fall apart as they age. Just like our bodies,they can only be kept going for so long. Nothing lasts forever,one day the drip stops.

Susan Sack it looks sound enough to remodel, that's what I do. Yes that woodwork can be saved, what's ruined can be replaced. I seen some pex in the bathroom under the sink, that hasn't been around more than 20 years. So it hasn't been abandoned long.
@danielanderson52276 жыл бұрын
chances are the last of that family passed away or the young ones moved state or country hence the abandonment

Ahhh the memories this house must have of happier times, and I so love the way you include music, nature sounds, thereby giving respect to the place, rather than so many others that jus dive in , show you quick snippets with their voiceover "impressions".... almost always meaning nothing and disrespecting the history of the place and the people who HAD LIVES THERE ! Good work ! I will live vicariously through your finds to discover those places that have such history and interesting stories!

Such a shame that it wasn't restored.
@erinbricker-urbanhistorian58036 жыл бұрын
Would have been awesome!
@squirleyspitmonkey39263 жыл бұрын
At this point, it would cost more to restore it than it would to just bulldoze and build another house. That's what's sad about it. If it had been kept up over the years, then yeah, restore that bish. But if this thing has been empty since the 50s, you'd have to completely strip the wiring and the walls and redo them. The floor has to be completely redone. The foundation definitely has to be redone. I'm sure the pipes would have to be updated-- it would seriously just be cheaper to bulldoze and potentially build a replica.

At--7:31-- The old piano looks like at one time it had been a player piano. Look in front of the keys & you can see the levers. What a shame places like this are just let to fall down. You could picture folks sitting on the porch after the animals were taken care of & the chores were done. I'll bet the winters there were bad.

@barbaramerricks58285 жыл бұрын
Parker you have probably noticed in alot of old homes you film have been ramsacked and anything that has worth is ripped out and taken. Like the banasters to the stairs here are gone! I bet they were beautiful wood! We had an old house just like this in the family and it had 5 fireplaces and someone came in to steal and detached the beautiful mantels from the walls to take at some time later, but we beat them to it and they were taken to storage for safe keeping! Love your videos!
