+adamthewoo I think I recognize this location. I was there ironically one time with my 2013 Chevrolet and U Haul trailer in the back. That 990 pound U Haul trailer and when loaded it was 1500 pounds with 156 pound tongue weight. My car is only rated for 1000 pounds towing with 100 pound tongue weight. I revised it to 3500 pounds and 200 pound tongue weight. My car can tow with that 217 CID Cadillac V-6. LOL! Actually, I was moving my stuff from Chino Hills, California to Bellevue, Washington where I am at currently too. I think that place you showed is that Halloran Springs Road or something like that. Or it could be Halloran Summit. I have no idea. I know it's along that I-15 towards Las Vegas. I sometimes go to Washington State via Nevada, Idaho, and Montana. Cut across that Idaho too. Simple!

At 7:14, its not an alarm system but a Gilbarco Tank Monitor 3, as the closeup at 7:18 suggests. It would monitor the underground fuel tanks for water, flow issues, etc and would monitor the gas and diesel fuel tanks in one unit. It would also monitor levels of fuel for resupply ordering (I think ).

Thank you for posting this Adam, I stopped in that same gas station long time ago when I was a 20 something in the 80's, Im originally from the Vegas area and I must of traveled on the I-15 countless times through the Mojave Desert on down to the LA area. We stopped in places like Baker and the Calico Ghost town a few times and not to mention I spent a sun burnt weekend one time at what used to be Lake Dolores. Thank you for reliving my travels to and from on the I-15 in the Great Mojave.......I now live in Southern Utah which is not too far from there.

According to Wikipedia: "Halloran Springs is an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert. It is located on I-15 between Baker, California and Las Vegas, Nevada, approximately 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Baker. The stretch of road near Halloran Springs has been the sight of numerous accidents over the years, especially on Sunday and early Monday morning, as tourists returning to Southern California from weekends in Las Vegas often fall asleep at the wheel on this stretch of highway."

I remember stopping there several times many years ago when my parents dragged us around on vacation in an old Buick station wagon (I was always in the "tailgunner" rear-facing seat--and to this day it's the reason why I can't look people in the eye when I drive without sneering at them). It used to be a Stuckey's Stop. It was one of the last ones in operation out here in the west, if I remember correctly. The coin operated gate was to see a paid attraction, which my parents would never let us see...and now that I'm older I'm glad they didn't waste their money. I'm pretty sure the attraction was to see a "two-headed snake." There would be signs for miles in both directions, and kids would nag their parents for 100 miles to stop (at least we did). My mother would always stop for the cactus jelly, cactus candy, or Pecan log rolls. I remember one had signs advertising to motorists to "Stop and see a Baby Rattler," which of course was a...real plastic babie's rattle. Now that cars don't overhead and break down as much (and better gas mileage), most of these places are long gone.

You ever noticed when you're traveling through the endless wastes of Nevada that when you see an abandoned train, it kinda looks like it's moving? I'd like to look inside those trains, but it's too fekkin hot to actually get out of the car. There's some nifty ghost town in Utah, if you travel off the paved roads. Cisco is a total wreck, but it's a sizable one. They released a new Tremors movie this year, but Kevin Bacon wasn't in it. How are these palm trees still alive?
