@@annlyon.2040 Where do you live in the United States? A Mobile home park? As far as I know, there may be some towns that make you lease the land but for the most part when you buy a home with the land it all belongs to you unless you default on payments or don't pay taxes, and there are many abandoned houses, mansions and other homesteads all across the United States. I was born and raised here in the states and we have our grandparents' old farm with 1500 acres of land and the original house that's over 100 years old. We keep the house up but nobody lives in it. It mainly used for a hunting lodge now. But it's still the same as always. But I've been to plenty of abandoned estates that are decaying away.

This was a beautiful old farmhouse in its day. It is quite possible that the children could not afford the inheritance taxes on the property. This happens quite a lot in France, as the taxes are very high. Unless the business is still profitable the cost of repair on top of taxes is just too much for most of the children to carry.🖤🇨🇦

Kat Fain I agree, far better to have these properties preserved and restored than simply allowing so much history to gradually crumble away to nothing because the inheritors could not afford the tax gouge on their family lands and home. I have heard that they can do nothing with the property, including sell it, until the taxes are paid...but I can’t say that for a certainty.🖤🇨🇦

In France, when parents die, any inheritance is divided equally between the children, that's the law. Unfortunately, if for whatever reason the siblings cannot decide on what happens to the property, say one wants to sell, one wants to keep, another wants something else and so on. Then there's stalemate and nothing happens. Sadly, perhaps this is what happened here.

I know some people don't understand how places can be left, but I do. Sometimes we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. There could be a lot of mental and physical abuse and those memories are not wanted. The memories that are left in the house, pieces of furniture or knick knacks or whatever is left. ~ you don't want those things because it brings back memories of a horrid & painful childhood... people seem to forget not all children have a great childhood. Thank you for such a great tour of this amazing place, it is so beautiful and the furniture pieces are gorgeous. I always feel like I am right there with you and you're so respectful. Hi Lesley Bros of Decay, Once again you show your whole compassion, when you were exploring this mansion of a huge French family together with Jeffrey.. - The piano in the living room was my favourite item you were showing. - I was additionally so highly impressed how gently you were approaching the life and the history of this family, - with such a great sensitivity, which is always so characteristic for your videos. - I think, when you are trying to capture the memories of the former inhabitants, you are really giving them something like a second life. - I loved listening to your deep and thoughtful reflections, what would happen after you are passing away. - Wonderful! Greetings also to your brother Jordy. - I hope you both are healthy and well. - Stay safe, peace, blessings and kindest regards. I just found out, that you recently hit the 150000 subscribers number, and now you even got 1000 more. - WOW! You have such a great heart. "Giving people another chance of life to be remembered" That is so nice. Could almost see the family holding a dance with fun playing the piano and the table moved out of the way * The room with the Bar" Think they did have a great time, but they know they had much work keeping it going and as many farms now find the children want a modern life and leave. It is sad, as there as a day when at least one child would stay behind with the parents and their own family, and make sure the parents have a good ending in life, carrying on with the farm for the parents and like the idea they receive the farm in the end I agree it is very sad. If only people would '''talk it over with the parents and figure out what can be done with the home when that day comes' (Not an easy conversation and must be done sitting down and at the right moment and trying to just figure It all out and how they would like to see it all go, and then try to find a compromise at least?. Instead of just ignoring the most important conversations, of what do we do for dad and mom, and how to handle what is left behind when that day comes. Going over it with the parents way beforehand. Maybe one of them would be willing to own the home free and clear and jus continue on and work, if not can they own it to sell it etc? Making sure the home is in good hands and someone will be living in it and keeping it up. Allowing the parents to maybe understand how it will jsut fall down and be gone if they are not able to sell it or go through Real Estate people, and if not it will be left to be ruined, and they really do not want that. Or one of them own it, and live in it, and take it over. One or the other would need to happen. Someone else must own the home. (Hard but necessary conversation that is needed. )

As I downsized to a house about half the size is of the one I had lived in for 40-some years, got rid of a lot of stuff. My daughter and I are both only children. As we would go thru stuff, I’d ask her if it was something she’d want when I died. Sounds a little rough but worked well. She’ll still have a pile to go through. It’s hard to imagine a family that big. The house certainly set the stage for a happy life. Thanks for taking us with you and sharing. Kudos to you and Jeff for the camera work. Say hello to Jordy and stay healthy!!!

@@BrosOfDecayI am see again the video the bathroom up stairs is over the kitchen because maybe one leak in there produce the decayed condition in the kitchen. And other thing if the last rooms were used in last year's the people occupied the house because in the first's rooms is not beds and clothes. ☺

As a musician I always wonder what were the last things that were played on the pianos that you encounter in these explorations. Could you give us a look at that? Thank you lads for your respect for these old properties.
