This Farmstead is old enough to see the craftsman were trained in the old country, or by someone from there. Elements in the home were almost straight out of a Design book from 125 years ago. I have heard the two wheel traps as we called them, referred to as "Jinkers" Late modified to use on metaled roads with rubber tires. Would give a lot to have seen it back then.

Another great explore Paul. I'm surprised the old farmhouse is still relatively intact, considering it's open to the environment and abandoned. The crate like item in the shed next to the Ute body is a disassembled wool press. Missing is the manual compression corse screw drive, situated on top, and the compression plate that is aligned by internal rails.Once full of wool, the screw drive, operated by hand, forces the compression plate vertically, compressing the wool into a bale, than reversing the screw to return the plate to the top.This may be done several times before the bale is strapped and ejected. Hard yakka!. Still used today but are automated. I've recently restored a 'Australian Wool Corporation ' branded wool baler that is 110 years old. Aquired from a derelict shearing shed in the Mallee, made from Jarrah, it weighs 250 kgs!. Just a suggestion...ever thought of documenting all the ovens into a comprehensive timeline of history and development? 👍👍🇭🇲

I much prefer your videos of these old places compared to the ones in Adelaide. These old farms have much more character and items of interest. Most likely the Hot Water Unit was never installed as the old wiring and fuse box would have needed an additional circuit run to it, providing it had the electrical capacity to handle it. Yes that was on old Wool Press. Great walk thru & video. Thank you 👍

I think what you called hay press might actually be a fleece press. After the sheep are sheared, the wool is placed in large burlap bag within box. Then a person compacts it down tightly until full. It is then stitched closed with a baling needle &heavy jute twine. Quite often there is pulley system to lift it out of the box.
@Bluerose8882 жыл бұрын
That old copper washing, how did they drain the water? I didn't see a drain. The water heater looks like it is just hooked up to the gas. I don't see any water lines to it. That are usually at the top.

I love this house! This reminds me of some of the older videos from the country that were so beautiful and easy to picture yourself living in. Not ruined by people making a mess by squatting. This one seems like such a pleasant place with beautiful views. The first item on the note you found read: 1. HOT WATER SERVICE was to installed within three (3) months of my moving in. Moved in on January 11, 2001. I’d take that as proof that you were absolutely right - that’s a brand new hot water heater that was just placed there and never properly installed. This poor person lived there till well past 6 months, from the sounds of it, without hot water. He mentions in the item about stove repair that he had given info to the landlord possibly 6 months before that note was written! Thanks for this one, Paul! Going back to see if I can find the original vid. 🌼

That statement of complaints about the lack of maintenance was probably made to justify leaving before the end of the lease or without giving as long a notice as the tenant was meant to. The landlords negligence probably broke the terms of the rental agreement.
