Loved seeing this place - although it did make me feel a little sad and nostalgic. I'm a child of the 50's myself so by the 60's I was sure that everything was very new and exciting. New houses like this were sharp and clean and bright and reflected the new space age we were entering. Now seeing them torn down for something 'new' just makes me feel even older. Of course it allows me to see how shabby the basic construction of both the buildings and the furnishings in them actually were. The old buildings were built to last while these seemed to be built with an expiration date. Thanks for saving this one before she was gone forever!

this really was fun and 'quirky'! i think i am deciding i rather liked it! i really liked that 'fireplace' in the center. maybe this was the 'COOL' house on the block and they had the cool parents that would let all the kids come over and stay up all hours on weekends-then just crash in sleeping bags all over the floor. maybe they were allowed beer or a little blaze-up as long as everyone was in for the night and no more driving til morning-that would explain the two kitchens! for everyone's munchies in front of the telly! really i love these homes you somehow find that bring my younger days rushing back! and here is something else i LOVE with your vids-you will find recent pics of the house from when it is still nice for sale! i love it when you do that-it's fun like finishing a big puzzle, and i love to contrast & compare. the work you put into this REALLY makes urbexing so fun for us all. oh, p.s: thx for the warning that you have a mate with you so i don't wee myself! lol! love from the states, cindy

Hi Cindy thanks for the cool message of support, I love finding these homes and showing you guys! :-) Especially when you have a connection with them and the past :-) Plus I get to learn more and more about these eras too, been finding a fair amount of 60`s and 70`s ones lately and 50`s too actually. I will keep putting in the before shots if they are available :-) Glad you liked this one and are enjoying my videos Cindy , Cheers again, many more to come :-)

60's for sure but odd all on its own too . The two kitchens were strange as was the multiple types and patterns of flooring. Would love the aviary, I could have more birds. Interesting place, thanks.

Hi randi, cheers for watching, the birds would have loved the avery I think, lots of trees and other birds stopping in. I would live here in this quirky house for sure, shame it has gone now though, thanks for watching :-)

I was quite perplexed by the wood stove in the living room. It seems it was placed according to the probable furniture in mind. Thanks for this. In California near San Francisco.
@urbexindigo51644 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy after a closer look that stove seemed to be only a small wood heater but it was still in a funny place, the top did not have any hot plates or anything. Cheers for watching :-)

Wow. When you say quirky you mean quirky. Looks like Austin Powers safe house. Was neat to see but what a mish mash of different paneling and carpets. Wouldn’t it have been fun to see the furniture. If those walls could talk. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Well, that was different. Just the design, which was really a single bedroom with a huge entertainment area, is really different. The placement of interior structures is close to random, as the kitchenette/kitchen design shows, the placement of the log heater, between two doors? Really !!. And the bathroom between bedroom and kitchen? Great if you get the munchies whilst having a shower. But the heater installed in the larger of the two kitchens is just odd. And the cheap wood paneling..reminded me so much of the family room at my parents house before the reno, when I discovered Dad panelled over brick !!! Quirky house ? Definitely. Love to of discovered the builders thoughts behind the orginal design. Thanks again for the vid bro. 👍👍🇦🇺

Hey mate cheers for stopping by, it does seem very random and follows no rule of thumb but I like it haha. Seems they were not deterred by any outcome and just went with it. My parents put brown 70`s carpet down in the kitchen when I was born lol. Stay tuned mate as I have a few more of these unique/random 60`s places to come also. Cheers for watching :-)

Hi. You might have done your research on the painting but if you didn't I did some for you. Liz Brophy was born in Australia she moved to Portugal after winning a newspaper arts award, she had art exhibitions of her work. & they are also on auction sites. She now lives in Co. Wicklow Ireland. You might have let a rare piece pass through your hands. I liked this place it was normal compared to some you show. Tfs . :)
@urbexindigo51644 жыл бұрын
Hi Mighty Mo, I did not but a lot of people has put in the info about her and I am so glad I did check what name was on it as Liz is no slouch and quite desirable artist. Cheers for the info Mighty mo :-)

Beautiful freestanding fireplace.... Considered buying a used one similar to that ( hammered copper ), 20 years ago for under a grand but just couldn't really make it successfully fit in my homes floorplan.

Dysfunction junction layout for sure. The slider into the kitchen? 2 kitchens? Fire stove right in the middle of the room? Multiple tile patterns in the bathroom and in the rest of the house. It was confusing. Here's your coffee passthru while you slave away doing laundry!

Hey Wendy yes pretty non conforming layout but I like it haha :-) he 2 kitchens were cool too, the pass thru was a head scratcher though! lol Cheers for watching :-)

Elizabeth Liz Brophy was born in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. She studied art at the East Sydney Technical College and in 1971, she won the coveted P & O Ship Company Art Award. The prize was a year long, all expenses paid trip for two to Europe which allowed her to visit Ireland for the first time as well as France, Spain and Portugal. The artist lived and exhibited in Portugal with her husband until 1993 when she returned to Ireland, Co. Wicklow where she currently resides. Elizabeth is Ireland’s leading Impressionistic painter and one of the fastest selling living artists in this country. She is a renowned and established modern Irish Artist, and has exhibited extensively both in Ireland and all over the world. Her works are in many private and public collections including the Australian Ambassador to Portugal, Museum of Natural History, New York, Department of Primary Industries, Canberra, France, Portugal, Spain, England and Ireland. Her paintings also belong in many corporate collections such as: Eagle Star Insurance Company, Ulster Bank, Allied Irish Banks and Bank of Ireland. Most of her art sells for around 3,000 and under - And I did not see that painting on any of the sales lists.

Do to the fact the painting has pulled loose from the right side of the frame do to moisture- that may be a real painting by her.

If they are destroying that house- see if you can get that painting from the owner- would be sad sad loss if it is real.

Wow!! thanks for awesome research Charles, so glad I checked the name, although the unfortunate part is I have no idea what happened to the painting as 4 days ago I drove past this place and it is now just a vacant lot of dirt.....bummer. I bet it was thrown away....Looks like Liz is a real celebrated and decorated artist. So cool. thanks again for all that info Charles and for watching :-)
