Abandoned Since the 1980’s | Mississippi Elementary School in the Trees

In this episode of NOLADEEJ Explores, we venture to Mississippi and find an old elementary school hidden amongst the trees that we think has been closed and abandoned since the 80s. Not much information could be found for this school, but we did find a lot of interesting things inside.

Good Morning NOLADEEJ. Such an awesome video. It's like stepping back in time for me. It looks like typing classes. That's what we had. 45 minute class periods of learning to type. My first typewriter when I was 14 was an Underwood Typewriter. That's what my bothers older than me learned on So that shows you how antique they are. I would love to have one.. Those old typewriters were in bad shape but, they hadn't been vandalized. It's strange (but good) to not see graffiti everywhere. Thanks for taking us along on your exploration. Have a great weekend, Deej❤

The clock is actually the master clock that synchronized all the hall and class room clocks. It usually also controlled the cycle bells throughout the school.

Mimeograph machine, the kind the copies came out purple. We had them in the 70’s before copy machines. Algebra II would not have been elementary, must have been high school. Cool place, stay safe.

I believe it started out as elementary and high school was added toward the end. From what I could gather, it was a very small school and toward the end not many students.
