That’s amazing. A few tools, a couple of checks and a handful of Hobnobs and she’s a runner. I’m impressed on how little smoke came out of the exhaust.

Well done. Volvo red block motors are really robust; you cut a few corners but I’d have done just the same. I don’t think it is worth spending a great deal on the 245, even in excellent condition and with a history it might only be worth £10,000 - and it would cost 20 grand to get it into that state. It would be worth fixing the accident damage to the suspension, giving the motor and gearbox a good service - certainly with new belts and hoses, maybe a water pump as well, welding up the holes (cheap if you do it yourself), brake discs and pads, take a chance on the clutch etc and fit some new tyres. It doesn’t need a MoT and the tax is free, so it is then probably worth at least £2,500 for an outlay of a grand. At that price point it would be really easy to sell (and being tax exempt it might well make a bit more) -and return a good profit for not much work. I’m looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it. Good fortune.

Thanks, in all honesty we didn’t want to cut the corners but she fired up and ran really well considering. She will definitely live on. As for value we aren’t bothered I don’t tend to sell the car but also don’t plan on putting a whole load of money into it. We have some exciting things coming up for the car. The plan is to make good of the car and get it road legal and just use it as a nice original patina car. It deserves to be back on the road that’s for sure. Thanks for watching 👍

Ohh it runs. Id spotted the skip on the belt cant believe it fired on old fuel as well. Trip to the shops with no rad and the engine will be fine 😂

Great video Marc. And I thought my first start of the 740 was dramatic. The pulley fell off and fuel was leaking everywhere. You can still buy those lower sprockets. Mine needed a one as the nub for the pulley had worn down.

The engine seems good, I had one of these years ago. The main problem I had was electrics as there are quite a few relays which can play up. What next? Seems to me your biggest problem is the rust holes in odd places like the roof and screen pillar. Tricky to repair properly.

Yeah the engine does seem like it wants to live again. I am hoping its a case of yes some relays and also some bad earths from being sat for so long. Video to follow of what's next but first off is get the suspension done so it can actually roll and move. Then yes tackle the rust. Thanks for watching.

B21 engine.non interference,run on anything.my mate had a garage and got a lot of petrol diesel mix,£5 for 5 gallon.used to run my 245 on it.smelled like a paraffin heater,but ran fine.tried it in my 2.3 injection,and it didn't like it.

B21A engine is non interference. Probably hasn't had the shims done. Oil and filter change and it will clock up another 100,000 miles. At least it doesn't have a sun roof, they cause all sorts of problems.

Can’t kill a Volvo very easily aha The noise was the pulley on the some tin wear we distributed taking the timing cover off. Nothing major

@@SimpsonsClassics many years ago I helped fix a diesel fork truck with a snapped chain, amazingly every vavke was good. It was fork truck so didn't rev very hard, buy we all felt like it deserved a rebuild, including the gaffer and so we did, even thought a new fork truck would have been cheaper as it took us a while to figure out if everything was timed correctly - on an unknown engine we had no info about. Every days a school day through and I learnt a LOT
