In Butte Montana, I was working in a basement that had access to an old mine. We found a section of newspaper from 1929 behind a small knee wall. I'm still trying to find access to the 10,000 miles of workings under Butte...

The timbering of the old-time miners utilized was truly an art form, and some serious engineering feats accomplishments underground for no one to see. 🎉 I worked underground for a bit, and we had sections that required timber, and the shafts were collared continuously with ring-steel that we hung with tie-rods and braced back to the rib with timber cribbing sets. Still remember my superior once we had the crib up and settled it was the 'wedging' that he said was the most crucial of the entire cribbing. I sought to hammer the crap out of them but quickly stopped and told lightly just a tap... get it 'seated' but dont force it. The idea is to let it all settle, which it does very well as you can see after 100 pluus years. When I watch any mine show and we get to timbering, I look at the wedges immediately 🎉

Those miners placed that timbering correctly. After a 100 years, most still looked very stout.

Now that you mention it I remember when you asked viewers if there was a woman out there who wanted to follow you around....Cool! So nice that you found each other and now you get to explore all the new places you'll go to with each other, and with us! I am SO looking forward to it. There are very few KZbin channels I can't wait for new episodes for, and Yours, "Gly Coolness" (and Now Laura the Explorah) is definitely at the top! Thanks for going back into the rest of the Mine and showing us what was left. It's a pity, because the woodwork in this mine is certainly spectacular, but there were some obvious weak spots because there is collapses all over the place in this mine. Take care, be well, and see you next week! TTFN

@@lh6551 Thank you - not sure why these didn't show when I checked yesterday? Unfortunately Gly (or whoever listed them) has not given any shipping costs outside the US - I'm UK based. I know it takes time to work these out but as someone who sells (in my case, hobby items) to buyers all over the world, adding shipping costs (for example to include N America; S America; Mainland Europe; Australasia; etc) will increase sales and probably result in higher value bids - if that's what you want. I guess if you are able to sell all you list (at sensible prices) then maybe it's not an issue? We all just want to support you guys - I've sent a few "Thanks" dollars through the link but owning a Galina rock, etc. would be special - ideally one from one of the mines you have actually visited and collected rocks from rather than those you have bought in.
