Paulie Copez I was thinking while watching this magnificent show about Johnny going to San Quinton where Merle was incarcerated and doing a show for them. I know in Merles wildest dreams at the time he could not imagine being on stage with Johnny and both being two of the biggest Icons and legends Country music has ever had .

@donaldfowler7117 Жыл бұрын
@Matthew Robertson Cash had Sam Phillips bail him out of a ton of situations that should have landed him in prison, more than once; but his fame and the influence of Sun Records (and it’s money) kept him from it. Luckily Cash didn’t start really raising Cain until he’d found fame or he might’ve met Merle in San Quentin another way…. For instance, he was caught at the border, and once on a plane with drugs. In those days a small amount of marijuana would’ve landed the average joe a hefty jolt in prison; the hard drugs he was caught with would’ve been worse especially when charged as federal crimes, (which taking drugs across an international border or on a plane would’ve been; then and now). But, due to his fame, wealth, influence of his friends/label, and white skin, he avoided what would’ve normally happened in favor of large fines, community service, and probation. He caught on and straightened up when he became involved romantically with the love of his life, June Carter (who’d become June Carter Cash in time). The movie “Walk the Line” shows a bit of this; albeit with some details omitted or simplified, for the sake of drama or it being counter to the story they wanted to tell. You probably knew all that anyway, I bet.

Even though I never met Earl's kids my name is Scotty too..... We all had to be separated to protect our families so we could live a normal life... Even me having a FBI Daddy watching over me... But I won't forget my Grandma will Hickman talk so many people to play guitar it wasn't long after her passing away they close the Grand Ole Opry she knew so many of them I'm just glad we lived out west and hiding because now I'm 50 years old and I'm actually still alive and I'm on the road all the time
