I think such a modesty is a common feature of sweedan people,I noticed it when living in Sweedan. Nice cultute! it would be better if people like the Swedes inhabited other countries than other countries populate and spoil Sweden now. You will not find a single Swede in the world with refugee status!)

they are so sweet, decent and natural people, it is a real delight to travel back in time to wwhen the charts were ruled by artists who impressed with their music and not with their ego-problems and their boldness to steal ideas. --- ABBA is probably the most underrated band ever - they are just unbelievably brillant, simply perfect both in composing as in performing!!!
@DrummerAar0n2 жыл бұрын
ABBA underrated? They are perfectly rated as one of the best bands of ALL-TIME! Agreeable by the majority of their fans and other artists as well. ABBA began as 4 individuals from OTHER bands, classifying them as a "Supergroup" right from the beginning. There was a time where they were "un-popular" and assumed to be one-hit-wonders, but that time has long since passed. ABBA were/are pioneers in so many aspects of music including one of the first (after Stevie Wonder) to use "Auto-tuning" in their 1982 song "Under Attack". ABBA are also pioneers in reforming or reuniting. It took Blondie 16 years, the Eagles 14 years, Fleetwood Mac 10 years, not even the Beatles were able to achieve this great feat, but supergroup ABBA takes the cake waiting 40 YEARS! ABBA are one of the best bands of all-time in many categories ....something most of us have known since the very beginning.:)

haha I was laughing, Agnetha was so excited when the host ask them to read the notes, and Frida was like: "just give me that", oh gosh I just love ABBA!!!Agnetha is adorable and she sang this kind of in the same note she sang "Sliping thru my fingers", amazing how high her voice can reach!!!I think it was a great idea that Frida made the guy say 777 hahaha everything that ABBA does is just so special!
@mackenziezimmerer79265 жыл бұрын
These 4 are the most gracious singers. For them to sing material that's not their own and do it while the host playfully mocks them.... today an idol group would talk trash and be interviewed with insulting innuendo

they had so many no 1 singles that it seems unlikey to call them underrated, but i mean the serious music - lovers, who always thought of them as some bunch of marionettes being sold as an image, not as hard working, highly skilled musicians. And i must admit that i was one of those, too, when i was a kid. Anyway, they are not just professional, but also very decent, down to earth people, - a rare thing in the glam - biz

This may of been a boring interview, but I did learn something new about ABBA. I think everyone was nervous or even tired. It is too bad that ABBA did not do a rendition to "Don`t Fence Me In" I did appreciate this interview. Thank you Dick!

Yes, I agree. Unless you are a Forrest Gump fan from abroad Cavett is unheard of outside of the U.S. (certainly europe) And his style of hosting is very dry and not as fast-paced as most other show hosts. So i'm not surprised at the negative comments here. I do see an advantage here, because his deep calm way of speaking is very comforting for the listeners and guests, especially if it's a bit tricky for foreign guests, but they were doing just fine. Combined with his dry sense of humor it works

because he is not your typical fast-paced american talk show host. dick cavetts style is one of sharp wit and dry humor with a low calm voice that works well together. a great combination and the guys played along well. it certainly is not his greatest interview ever, but look at some of his interviews with all the other world famous celebrities out there, the timing and comments are priceless

Cavett has a very individual interviewing style. It probably doesn't translate well for people who are not native English speakers. His comments tend to be very ironic and tongue-in-cheek. I think ABBA were great sports playing along with him and they speak English very well considering it's not their language. Find me 4 Americans who can speak Swedish -- not so easy. ;-)
@Lisarata17 жыл бұрын
"They song in Swedish without rehearsal, an American patriotic song, which has nothing to do with them. I think they did well, with an idiot for an interviewer, these are a band from a cultured country and did well." That's an interesting point of view. The fact is, that's not a patriotic song, it's a cultural song. And the US does have a culture--that song is an example. But I agree that ABBA are professionals and did a fine job singing it off the cuff.

@rossmcl1776Ай бұрын
I usually love Dick's interviews but jeez this is really poor. He seems to have done no preparation at all and his questions are just made up and not very good. They are nervous and he completely fails to put them at their ease so there's no energy or conversation: his fault not theirs. Extraordinary to see a professional TV interviewer get to the last 5 minutes and run out of questions. He actually says, "What shall we do now?" Honestly - I'm a big fan of DC and you can look at my comments over the years and you'll see me praising his. But, keeping it real, this is just a really really bad interview.
