I remember in 1977 hearing Abba for the first time. Two bars into the chorus of SOS, I knew Abba was going somewhere. It never ceases to amaze me how many serious music people really like Abba. This masterpiece encapsulates why.
@danbike93 жыл бұрын
Every top rank musician knew from day one ABBA had a very high level of musicality, musicianship and professionalism. They were a self contained indie band that did everything themselves. They had no corporate music industry puppeteers or overlords and that meant they had to fight to get heard. Hence, Eurovision Song Contest and their low budget music clips sent to TV program directors around the world. ABBA TV before MTV. ABBA went around the music industry filters directly to the people.

They were developed beyond the Americans and Brits when they released 'Ring Ring', which is the title track from their first album. That was a ground breaking recording. The last demographic group in the world that recognized ABBA's high level talent, production, professionalism was the young American male. They were not stupid, but were highly ignorant. They eventually learned how good ABBA were and caught up with the rest of the world. Re. Ring Ring It was a big hit in Sweden/Scandinavia. But it was not unnoticed by the talented top producer's from America and Britain. They sounded bigger, bolder and fresher than anything else from the Americans or Brit's. Polar Music/ABBA just out-produced the best America and Britain producer's. Polar Music/ABBA was the tiny engine that set the bar very high. Today, the name Polar Music is synonymous with quality by the music industry around the world. The Polar Music Prize.
