"Sometimes i Wish That I Could Freeze The Picture , And Save It From The Funny Tricks Of Time" Heartbreaking lyrics right there. This should have been released as a single instead of "Head Over Heels" It's far superior & would have no doubt given them their 10th No 1 single in The UK.

The true genius of ABBA’s songs is how they captured the joy and tragedy in the everyday moments of ordinary people’s lives. The emotions of every mother raising a child in this song; the highlight of teenage fantasy in Dancing Queen; heartbreak in SOS; the hard work of marriage in One Man, One Woman; the tragedy of divorce in The Winner Takes It All; the monotony of loneliness in The Day Before You Came.

Quite often Agnetha's voice was sampled to create the effect that there was 2 voices. If you listen very closely you can tell it's Agnetha's voice. Agnetha's ability to connect the emotion to the lyrics is something she has said in an interview that she does to bring the meaning of the song through. She was very connected to her children. She had a daughter first then a son with Bjorn.

There's a live performance of this track on the Dick Cavett interviews ABBA. It's the band's last live performace on tv. The performance is more poignant and heartbreaking than the studio. Agnetha feels every words. Her eyes tells a whole lot of story.

This is a very emotional, heart felt song with the lyrics by Bjorn about his daughter, Linda. They have a daughter and a son. If you ever read any books about ABBA you will find how many layers Frida and Agnetha (An-yetta) put in most of their songs. As Agnetha said they made a chorus out of their voices. There is no one but Frida and Agnetha singing. That is their magic.

that live version is also interesting because during the verses, you get an alternative sound as Frida sings harmony - on the studio version (verses only) Agnetha does double-vocal tracks and sings harmony to herself, making it sound more fragile & vulnerable, Frida sings the harmony for the chorus

It’s really so heartwarming seeing your reactions to ABBA’s music because you don’t hold back in your recognition of the beauty of the songs as well as the complexity of the arrangements. I would venture to assume most of the comments are from people like myself who have grown up with the music of ABBA that it’s practically part of our DNA at this point. Since you are reviewing The Visitors album there is a track which was recorded during the sessions for The Visitors album which did not make the final cut but has subsequently been included on reissues of the album called “Should I Laugh or Cry” which I would suggest you do a reaction video for. Also from “The Visitors” album is the song “One of Us” which I highly recommend as well. Finally, this song is not on “The Visitors” album (it’s on the “Super Trouper”) but you really should do a reaction video for it “The Winner Takes It All”. I’d really love to see your reaction. Keep up these awesome reaction vids. I watched some of the Spanish artists reaction vids you have posted. Check my comment on Thalia’s “A Quien Le Importa”.

"Slipping through my fingers" (1981) is in my opinion the most testimonial and experiential song by ABBA This lyrics are very deep, about the growth of a son and how those moments of time go by day by day the guitarist Björn writes it about her 7/8 year old daughter and her mother Agnetha sings it Sometimes it is related to "The winner takes it all", because it has as protagonists Björn and Agnetha But there are differences between the two stories: 1) that is the figurative story about a divorce (although probably with parts of the reality that Agnetha and Björn lived), but this is a story inspired by the daily lives of parents another difference with 2) this does not arouse the morbidity of the leading couple, it is an intimate story of parents and children that generates tenderness and nostalgia 3) perhaps this one does not have the usual catchy refrains of ABBA or a powerful melody like that, here its melody is soft, cared for and intimate, it accompanies without invading the wonderful emotional interpretation of Agnetha, that always shines much more when the song asks to express the feelings In short, it's a beautiful song by melody and interpreter lyrics, it touches the most intimate fibers of emotion and nostalgia, in my Top 20 of all ABBA songs

The girls both had the ability to make their voices tiny. But it was Frida and Agnetha doing vocals. THe live version they did, they recreated this to an extent. Bjorn and Agnetha have a son and daughter. The daughter LInda was going off to school when Bjorn noticed her growing up before his eyes, and all the time he missed. Christian, the son, hadn't started school yet.

There were no other singers on the track only Agnetha & Frida. I’m pretty sure the verse beginning “Sleep in our eyes...” is only Agnetha singing but twice through if you get my meaning. Also the track was written about Agnetha & Bjorn’s daughter Linda who was around 8 when Bjorn wrote the lyrics detailing how she was growing up so fast. I hope that helps! Indeed...my boys are now in early 20's, was single dad for 11 years... I now find myself with treasured memories and missing days passed.... Bjorn and Agnetha had each, daughter, Linda, and son, Peter Christian...

Hey Dereck. Another really engaging review from you, thank you. This is such a great song that takes you on a journey and narrates such a touching story. I've never heard any suggestion of a child being involved in the recording. The more I watch you, the more one thing comes to mind with your musical tastes. You love Euro-pop, dance stuff, Abba and Madonna. What do these all have in common? One word - Eurovision! Abba launched their career after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. Madonna performed as interval act in 2019. Eurovision is jam-packed with Euro-pop, it's erratic, it's fun, it's diverse, it's often camp and cheesey as hell, it's very, very gay ... Across the continent of Europe the gay community celebrate Eurovision like the Superbowl with watch parties. Eurovision has 200 million viewers every year - you really, really need to check it out. Basically, every country in Europe submits a song to enter and viewers across the whole continent vote for the winner. I'll suggest one track to start you off - the winner from 2012, Loreen - Euphoria (representing, of all countries, Sweden) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpfSXmuwbZurbpI Believe me, once the Eurovision bug bites, you'll be hooked - and my gosh, it's been going for 60 years.. American Idol is a baby compared to this. Love your channel, love you, keep those vids coming

Dereck, your comments about parents thinking about the time they lose when their children are away from home is so true.

This song always makes me think of my mom and what she's done for me. First time I heard it I lived far from her, and made me miss her so much.
