@@blissin444 Tbf, while she is definitely consuming too little calories, you can't really compare the energy needs of a toddler and an adolescent/adult that well. The brain of a five year old 5 years old uses up around 43 percent of their daily energy requirements (2 to 3 times more than in an adult). So yes, while an adult human is a lot larger and thus generally requires more energy for their body, they also require much less energy for their brain, leading to less of a difference in energy requirements than most would suspect.

As a parent, you cant control what your daughter learns outside the home or on the internet. What you can do is model good behavior and always be loving and a source of support for your daughter. If we imagine that and ED developed out of a desire for control (whether over our appearance or in response to some lost of control in another area of life), then I don’t think more control is the answer. Definitely set up guardrails and boundaries and communicate them clearly, but also grant your daughter the autonomy and trust to make her own decisions. She may make mistakes but through this she’ll learn to trust you and that will be important when she experiences a time where she needs support. We can always prevent our loved ones from going down a certain path, but we can always strive to be someone they feel like they can go to when they need to.

As a mom it’s admirable that you’re trying to learn how to defer your daughter from making dangerous food choices. As far as exercise goes, you two could do yoga or take a dance (you could even KZbin these and do them in your living room) and show her that exercising is about how you feel afterwards, not really how many calories you’re losing. I hope this helps!

It’s funny for me to hear that dairy can cause acid reflux as I use whole milk mixed with half and half to stop my reflux about 1/4 cup each. I also drink it before I go to bed, in bed it I ate something I know will cause reflux. I have 24/7 reflux, I was born with no esophagus at all they used stomach tissue, back muscle, and my right collar bone over 9 surgeries between 1995-2000 to make one. But because there was so esophagus at all and where an esophagus would join to the stomach was a dimple so I don’t have the sphincter that helps prevent acid reflux and food from going back up. So my reflux never actually stops and it often spills into my lungs. So I constantly sip on my whole milk half and half whenever it gets bad. I do have a j tube for my nutrition and a g tube to drain out the acid and anything I eat but I still get the acid reflux (GERD) if I eat something that won’t drain out and is reflux causing. I was on Vancouver and recently on the news they talked about a boy in Ontario with esophageal atresia ultra long gap and his surgery was the first ever to be performed, I had the exact same surgery minus using magnetics but I had a similar surgery and he’s the first baby in Canada to have the severity of the condition of no esophagus at all since me. Esophageal atresia is a common birth defect but only missing small portions not missing all of it

@Rachel Forshee my stomach is completely paralyzed when the esophagus didn’t form neither did the nerves that make it move to digest food. I’m able to eat some but it’s not absorbed at takes up to 24hrs to leave the stomach just with gravity. So I eat only for enjoyment and mainly liquids my favourite is an Ice Cap from Tim Hortons, I like Starbucks, slushes. I eat things that are soft like potatoes. My g tube drains acid and food and liquids out of the stomach instead of digesting it, but I LOVE spicy foods but most spicy foods don’t drain out and I sometimes eat other things that don’t drain. I do it when I feel it’s worth the taste because I’m sick after and vomit a lot. So all my nutrition and fluid intake come from my j tube. I’m encouraged to drink high calorie high sugar drinks as I get low blood sugar even though I’m fed 22hrs per day and with the hope I will absorb some of the calories. When I have reflux and drink the milk mix (it’s lactose free as I’m allergic to lactose but I’m also allergic to nuts and soy so it has to be lactose free dairy) I don’t drain it out. If I drink a pop like Pepsi for my blood sugar I don’t drain it out. Some liquids can get through my system

I still do not understand the appeal of smoothies replacing meals. I'm always really hungry still after eating one and find I drink it way too fast. I just dont get it, its counterproductive for me, aside end up eating more vs. If I would have just ate a fullfing meal.

Smoothies have to have enough protein, fat, complex carbs, and fiber to be satisfying, just like any meal! I use Orgain or PB2 protein powder, dairy or soy milk, whole oats, ground flax seeds (good fats), 1/2-1 banana, handful of spinach, and a few frozen cherries. I also tend to drink a smoothie along with something solid like toast, whole fruit, granola, etc

Clif Bars don't contain palm oil - according to the ingredients listed on their website and individual bars, they contain sunflower oil. But syrup is the first ingredient. The bars seem to contain both rice and cane syrup, so yeah a lot of sugar, which isn't necessarily bad during training. Edit: just double checked and the Nut Butter versions of Clif Bars DO contain palm oil :( regular Clif Bars don't.

How about reviewing Leena Snoubar (also known as Leena Asad) of "With Love, Leena"? She's a former L&D nurse turned full-time fashion/lifestyle KZbinr, and she has spoken about gluten intolerance, dealing with PCOS, and the decision not to fast during Ramadan while pregnant or breastfeeding. She also happened to grow up in the restaurant business. She doesn't have a ton of food content, but I think there is enough for a review. Her two sisters Amanda and Lauren also have channels, and the three young women have a shared channel as well.

@cjtorres59173 жыл бұрын
It's definitely hard to miss fasting when everyone else is doing it. Making it up later doesn't feel the same somehow. But of course the health of mother and child should come first! At least pregnancy is a happy reason to miss fasting. When I miss a fast, it's due to illness. Much less cool!

As someone who struggled really really bad last summer with acid reflux, nausea, and bloating that was debilitating, I understand why she’s eating less because eating causes such discomfort. I would recommend her to go on the GERD diet because it has changed my life. For me as well gluten free and cutting red meat has helped a lot too. I really hope she can get through this block whether through using mylanta after meals to get her through till her body can lower its acidity. I relate too much to this video and now I can eat so much more with freedom and enjoy the foods I love to eat!

In living a life with GERD, I have found that including white rice in my lunchtime, greatly reduces my symptoms, later in the day. As GERD is something that strikes worse at night, when you’re lying down, I also try to finish my dinner 2 hours before bedtime. Sleeping on my back, with two pillows underneath my head, until I am starting to feel sleepy, also helps... It’s not that you have to completely abandon fried food, it’s just that you’d rather have them during the day, and keep your dinners free of anything fried, or made of refined flour. Another thing I found is, having my coffee somewhere between breakfast and lunch, even neutralises the acidity from coffee, just not to be had in evenings or night. AND I absolutely agree with you - having a nutrient dense lunch with some white rice, is what’s helped me control my reflux over the years.

I'd love to see you review Kyra Ann's What I Eat in a Day videos. It seems like she typically only eats about 800-1000 calories a day. She's been fixated on losing weight, has gone oil-free, and has used some really concerning language in her videos, like that she can't eat things like bread because she's not a runner. She also fixates on sugar in almost every vlog and says she can't eat it because she has a sugar addiction.

So thank you so much! Just out of curiosity if you would be willing to do an idea video of sorts for those with GI dysmotility or other GI issues? Obviously not looking for medical advice, but a lot of the literature out there recommends the more "unhealthy" options that I wasn't raised on and would like to be able to find healthier options/ideas to get fruits and veggies more consistently. As someone who has struggled with acid reflux, ulcers, colon ulcers and chronical nausea since I was 7 years old (Ulcers when I was 12 and 17) I can attest to hunger/ fullness ques being untrustworthy when you suffer from something like this. I would feel terrible on a diet like hers, for sure. I find that carbs, like rye, oat, rice and potatoes help to still my symptoms, as it seems to "soak up" some of the acid in the gut. I've always been told mint was good against heartburn so it was a surprise to hear it mentioned on the no list. I can also attest to reflux happening when hungry, fasting is not an option for me, because of this. After more than 8 hours without food I will be spewing acid, it's rather intense. My guess is that when she feels all types of bad in the evening, its due to her having become overly hungry. If I become very hungry, eating anything will trigger everything, pain, reflux, gas, cramps, you name it. Smaller portions more often is certainly the way to go. :)
