OF COURSE a man who speaks in tongues is safe in the streets. I'm not one to back down from a fight but if I saw a guy walking around speaking in tongues, I would cross to the other side of the road. The same as if a guy was walking towards me covered in shit, foam coming out of his mouth, holding a bloody leg of a dog in his hands and a tinfoil hat on his head.

SPEAKING IN TONGUE IS A PRAYER LANGUAGE BETWEEN YOU AND GOD!!!! THATS THE BEAUTY OF IT!!! Satan cannot interfere nor UNDERSTAND it. That is probably why the un-believers cannot comprehend this language. I had an African friend & we often pray before doing our assignments or presentations. We prayed in tongues and it was the most beautiful language like there was no barrier in language nor tradition WITH God. I've been speaking in tongues for many years now however God has many other gifts that are just as beautiful. Praise God

They had never heard of tounques because they didnt believe in the New Testament but were Amazed and even recorded her! The gift of tongues the apostles possessed was a gift because when they spoke, no matter what language the person they were talking to spoke, they could speak and all people would understand them regardless of language. In this way they were able to spread the gospel wherever they went. This gift would never sound like, “gibberish “ to anyone.

Just as you can speak in tongues as a language from Heaven...if your heart and spirit are are with the darkness, evil, or Satan himself, you will speak in Demonic Tongues. Just as we choose our faith...we choose our alliegence. The Bible makes it very clear that speaking in tongues, when your spirit is connected to God...is a Divine language. It moves us...and it comes by faith...you can converse in His language, if yiu are with him. Judge not, lest ye be judged. Live and let live. May you find your path, and your way to God.

@Dexter O'Shields you are the one who is delusional not me! I'm talking about something that I have experienced and still do and not about some fairy tell. Why should we spend time and energy arguing? Ask the Holy Spirit. Say: Holy Spirit, if this is real, then I want to have it. Full stop! I don't have time to argue. It's about demonstration of power! A power that the devil has stolen from the church by lying to us that it is not real because he is afraid of it. If you want it you will get it, and if you don't you want. Thats all I have to say about that.

When I see something that I don't like or had a bad experience about, I refuse to watch or read anything about it, so im curious as to why you're doing it? But what you don't know is the Lord says you can't understand it anyway according 2 Corinthians 2:14 which says, "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned". So how about you don't click on the videos that talk about this matter when you see them, rather than laughing, mocking and making fun of people who do...because you're NOT spiritual!!

Sherice Keasley Madam, what is occurring in this video is not the gift of tongues..... The gift of tongues was given at the Pentacost to the disciples so that they were able to speak KNOWN earthly languages so that all in the crowd that were present heard the Word of God, the Gospel in their own languages, from people who did not even know that language. What is occurring here is an abomination and works against the message of Yeshua (Jesus) and to deceive non believers and believers alike that are present in this church. It is a blasphemy that they are doing here.... These people in this video SHOULD be rebuked, instructed in the Word and exposed openly by the body of Christ because the purpose of tongues given as a fruit of the spirit by God is for the CLEAR and intelligible instruction/edification of all and as a sign for nonbelievers.

Jordan Brice-Conway So, here's a question--why do you pray for people who don't really affect you and who you don't for a fact have anything wrong with them... and not people who are suffering because of people who share your beliefs? Do you believe condoms are wrong? You should pray for people who contract diseases because they're not even allowed to buy condoms. You should pray for people who get abused by preachers and priests. Seriously, I watched a video where a preacher admitted to his congregation that he punched a kid because 'he wasn't right with God'. Pray for people who don't believe while stuck in families that do, who can't come out or if they do, are totally disowned. Pray for gay people who come out and are taken to camps to be made into something they're not, often killing themselves. Pray the world stops being stupid and giving in to bullshit like you're doing. You're not going to live forever just by believing something. Because believing things doesn't seem to scientifically have ANY affect on reality except to make yourself feel better about things which are false. It's a *_WELL-DOCUMENTED_* thing called denial. You... are going to die at some point. Nothing besides the people close to you... care that this will happen, or owe you further existence. You can use words like 'everlasting life', 'pray', 'God', 'spirit', 'holy', 'Messiah'... but think to yourself--do you really know that these words correlate to anything that exists outside of your head and other similarly-deluded people's heads? Have you really been able to pin down the meaning of these words separately, and prove the concepts of such things? Even to a fraction of a degree?

the gift of tongues is absolutely real. I grew up Baptist but I was open minded. I never actually made it a point to try to speak in tongues or to try to receive the gift. but one day, I was alone in my room praising and worshipping the Lord and I became so overwhelmed by the glory of his presence that I thought to myself, "If only I had a thousand tongues to praise you." and at that moment, it literally just flew out of my mouth without warning. it started with a feeling o desperation and an inability to express my praise because the glory I felt was beyond words. so it gave that desperate feeling. first it was just a whimper of desperation and then it came out fluently and I was kind of in shock because I knew that I could not have done that except by the holy spirit. if you try to force it, it is not real or spiritual. but if you just wait for the Holy Spirit, he will make it happen.

No offense intended to anyone who practices glossolalia, however, outside of a religious or spiritual context, glossolalia is simply an advanced form of learned word-play; anyone can learn to do it. It only has specific significance in a cultural or religious context where it is part of that cultural or religious belief system. The glossolalia exhibited by any one speaker seems to be governed by the phonological rules of that person’s native language and any other language they may be familiar with. This is especially true of consonant clusters. I’ll use English as my example. Certain consonant clusters just aren’t allowed in English; we do not have things like cht- or dl- or tl- or jb- or ng- at the beginnings of words in English. Likewise, It seems too that in the glossolalia of speakers of English, any disallowed word-initial clusters (or word-medial or word-final for that matter) are also not exhibited/allowed in their glossolalia. This would seem to support the theory that glossolalia must also conform or be based on the same phonological rules that govern the speaker’s native language. Also as I previously stated in another post, a particular person’s glossolalia does not seem to contain any sounds not found in the phonetic inventory of their native language or any other language they may be familiar with. A language’s Phonetic Inventory are all the sounds that make up that particular language - English contains about 24 consonant phonemes and about 12 vowel phonemes in its inventory. In other words, if a person knows or has only ever been exposed to English, their glossolalia will not contain the sounds made by say, the German ü or ö, nor any sound or combination of sounds that do not occur naturally in their native language (or any they may be familiar with). Syllable structure is also rather unique to some degree. What I have observed seems to concur with what others have written about glossolalia. Syllable structure is typically not at all like the syllable structure in the speaker’s native language. Glossolalia typically exhibits a very open syllable structure, that is, the syllables of a given string (I hesitate to use “word”) are typically Consonant (C) Vowel (V) and strings typically consist of a repetition of this structure, so something like CVCVCVCV, etc. With the final segment of the string, there seems to be a choice of using either an open syllable or a closed one (a closed syllable has the structure CVC). So a given string is something like CVCVCVCVCVC, etc. Where I have C (consonant) here, it should be understood, though I’m not indicating it here as such for simplicity’s sake, that it could be just a single consonant or an allowed consonant cluster. One speaker I noticed seemed to like to end his strings with -Vsht (where V is some vowel). I should also point out too that where I have V (for vowel), it should be understood that it could also be an allowable diphthong or tripthong. The syllable structure of CVCV (i.e. mainly just open syllables) is most definitely found in real languages as well - the Polynesian languages (Hawaiian for example) are perhaps the best examples. English, tends to favor closed syllables so one might be inclined to think it’s an example of how glossolalia is really a language of some sort. The thing is, though that glossolalia resembles babbling in structure and the syllable structure of “babble” is CVCV (i.e. open syllables no matter what your native language may favor). In short, it seems as if a person’s glossolalia is subject to the same “rules” as that person’s native language. The conclusion I was forced to draw based on my observations is that the phenomenon of glosolailia is clearly a learned one. Small children, learn it the same way they learn almost anything - by observation, repetition, imitation, positive reinforcement and encouragement from adults. Older people learn it by watching and imitating what they see and hear. Once a person learns the methodology behind it, glosolalia can be done at will in any setting; church, sitting in a chair at home, wherever. I don't believe that it must first present itself in a church setting either - it can be virtually anywhere. What is very interesting is that in studies that have been done on a considerably wider and more formal scope than my simple observations, seem to draw the same conclusions. In her book, “Speaking in tongues; a cross-cultural study of glossolalia”, Felicitas Goodman for example, observed that the speakers string(s) “virtually mirror that of the person who guided the speaker into that behaviour. There is little variation of sound patterns within the group arising around a particular guide.” She further observed that “the importance of the leader was well illustrated by the fact that the style of glossolalia adapted by the group bore a close resemblance to the way in which the leader spoke [his/her glosolalia]...it is not uncommon for linguists to be able to tell which prominent glossolalist has introduced a congregation to tongue-speaking.” No one (I don’t think anyway) actually sits down and decides that “today I’m going to start learning how to speak in tongues”. It is learned by exposure to the environment or cultural/religious setting in which glossolalia occurs and either consciously or subconsciously imitating what is occurring (typically imitating the most prominent person (the "guide" as Goodman describes it)). The many instructional type videos I have seen are not “how to” videos (though some come pretty darn close to being just that) per se, but rather they seem to instruct the would-be glossolaliac how to essentially put one self in the proper mind-set so as to allow the speech to flow naturally. Some videos actually suggest how to start by just repeating one or two syllables. The other issue with glossolalia which seems to diminish its validity as something divinely acquired seems to be the supposed interpretation of a given string or strings. Studies have been done where a recorded sample of a complete string/utterance was shown to several people capable of offering an interpretation - the results were very non-inspiring: ask ten different people, get ten different answers. No two interpretations were even remotely similar. I guess, in all fairness, it could be argued that a given utterance may by its very nature have several meanings/interpretations, but that seems a bit like a 'pulling at straws' or a 'way too convenient' way to explain this away. I am forced to conclude that glossolalia is very much a learned behaviour - anyone can learn to do it. With some it comes easier than for others (much the same way as learning a foreign language). People learn glossolalia by first observing then imitating - it may be slow and extremely repetitive at first, but as one becomes more comfortable with it, and the more one is exposed to the phenomenon in various (typically a church) settings, the more easily it is produced and the more complex it seems to become. +Steven Henry Sorry. You've not studied enough. Actually, William Seymour was NOT the first to speak in tongues. About a decade BEFORE the Azusa Street revival, Pentecost was happening in Cross Creek, TN. And about a decade before that, in tent revivals, tongues, visions, and trances were happening in the Midwest. And long before that, in both Great Awakenings, tongues, trances, and other manifestations were happening in open-air meetings. Actually, tongues have occurred down through history, and not only in Christianity. And just because it happens in other religions, doesn't prove that within Christianity, it's from the devil. After all, the Devil is a counterfeiter. Truth is what he tries to counterfeit. If there are no true tongues, then Satan wouldn't try to counterfeit them. Here is an interesting link. About halfway down the page, you will find listed proof of quite a few of the great revivalists of US history, who were connected with speaking in tongues. www.thehemphills.com/moretongues.html

Kavik I have received the gift of speaking in tongues and I can tell you my dear, that the real one is NOT LEARNED. The real speaking in tongues is not learned at all. You should experience it to understand it. It is not quite easy to explain. For me I was just praying one day thanking Jesus for various things and all of a sudden I FOUND MYSELF SAYING WORDS THAT I DID NOT INTEND TO SAY. It's a little bit like a lapsus (saying a word when you actually want to say another word). Of course I believed in that and I even prayed 7 years prior to that to receive it from God. Instead of being suspicious and doubting why don't you just ask to God when you are alone, in case you don't want to appear foolish. In your bed just say Jesus if this is real reveal yourself to me and give me this gift. Just make the experiment. Let's say take 3 months and tell to God you give him 3 months. During those 3 months tell him every night or every morning "If this is real reveal yourself to me and give me the gift". Boy you will experience it first hand. I say FIRST HAND without any linguist, sociologist or journalist or pastor or even a christian of any kind to give you any explanation. It will be between you and God. He will show you how near He is to you and how much He wants to be your friend. He loves you so much. Jesus loves you.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a test for salvation. It is a gift to the believer, in addition and subsequent to salvation. Peter's confession that Jesus was the Son of the Living God marked him as saved and pre-dated by two months his baptism in the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 14 clearly explains the distinction between speaking in tongues as the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit: "For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious." - and the Holy Spirit Gift of Tongues, which, together with Interpretation of Tongues, equals the gift of Prophecy. (1Cor 12:10): "But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.' "A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church." Once again, these are two separate and distinct experiences. The gift of tongues, when interpreted, is an anointing of the Holy Spirit specific to a time and place, for the purpose of ministry. The tongues which are the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit are a personal prayer language given to the believer, about which Romans 8:26, 27 says: "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words." "And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will." The Bible says that when using the prayer language, the believer is talking to God. When prophesying, speaking in tongues with interpretation, God is speaking to the believer. Finally, on the Day of Pentecost, if the tongues were not known to the visitors in Jerusalem, they would not have been much of a sign to the non-believers. (1 Cor 14:22) But do we know every language that exists on earth? Just because you don't understand a language doesn't mean that it isn't real.

waggamandave read the only true English translation of the King James Version not that perverted version printed by media tycoon Rupert murdoch, you need to repent and turn to the cross, Jesus died on the cross at Calvary for "YOUR SINS" was buried and rose again on the third day all according to the scriptures, tongues are a real spoken language to convey a clear message of sincere truth (unleavened bread) of the gospel of salvation that comes through faith in blood atonement of Christ in which when you trust and believe in thine heart yes are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit the earnest of your inheritance! Faith in Jesus alone saves you! Not these profane and vain babbles of "DEMONS" or from yourself! Faith comes from hear and hearing from the word of God! How can an unbeliever understand the drivel you hear in these Satan worshippping churches. Besides all these signs were to establish the church and as a means to confirming there teachings same as the other signs and wonders and miracles. Its all caused by covert psychotronic mind control technology. This can put voices inside the head, and many other weird things. They are using hypnotic suggestions on these people. This is why many of them start acting and doing weird things after they get involved with this. I was sent to a charismatic Christian school for a short time as a child, and my behavior, thoughts and feelings began getting unusual. I became a loner, began developing chronic fatigue, and psychological problems. There were secret societies controlling the school, and they decided that they didn't like me, and told me that they were going to screw-up my life. After leaving the school, I never went back to church again.

james gardner There are different tongues. The tongues you speak of are those that edify the church(prophecy). Tongues in your private prayer life are not interpreted. “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” 1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV And there’s also tongues for the unbeliever, in which you would speak in their language, which you haven’t learned.

After being married for fourteen years with no children, (since doctors determined my wife could not conceive. Her body killed my sperm on contact ) I was praying in the spirit, (read Ephesians chapter 6) tongues that is, and God gave me the interpretation, saying that my wife was pregnant and that the scoffer's mouths would be shut when they heard the news! At the clinic they told us "it's a nice positive result". My wife bought a baby book and put our boy's name in it since we'd asked Him for a son. Our son, Nathan, was born about 8 months later. Tongues and the interpretation of tongues and an example of it's use and value. 1 Corinthians 12:10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. Mark 16:17 KJVS And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Don't let some man or denomination lead you away from the bible! God says "do not add to or take away from this book"! Those that know nothing about God's gifts lead the easily swayed away from the power God has for His people. What does your bible say? What does it say? Seek God for yourself! Luke 3:16 KJVS John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Fortunately I was saved outside of denominational walls. Jesus came and convicted me of my sins and I was born again. Then He baptized me with/in His Holy Spirit and fire and gave me the gift of tongues. Do not speak against the gifts of God! Remember the fat cows and the skinny cows from Pharaoh's dream? The one Joseph interpreted? Well here's the new testament reflection of those cows; 2 Timothy 3:7 KJVS Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. These that can never come to any understanding of God's word instead create ways to deny it. Such as saying God stopped giving gifts such as speaking in tongues, healing gifts and the others in scripture. Those people, such as the ones making videos denying God's written word are described as; 2 Timothy 3:5 KJVS Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Do not be moved by their false doctrines. You must seek God for yourself! You must! God expects you to seek His face and accept His Holy Bible, every bit of it! How can Jesus be close and personal to you if your entire knowledge of Him comes through the mouth of another? To know another you must spend time with them. How much time do you spend with Jesus? We are not to abandon joining with others to worship and praise and pray to God. But do not stay with those that deny God's gifts and Holy Spirit baptism for this very day.

It's interesting how those who don't speak in tongues write it off as either "crazy," untrue or heretical whereas we who speak in tongues know the truth about it because we have experienced it personally. It's like telling someone who was blind and now see that they're crazy about what they know to be true about what they experienced for themselves. By the way, speaking in tongues is not learned (something else that someone who doesn't understand writes off as untrue). Speaking in tongues is a spiritual experience; it cannot be explained logically. Supporting Scripture: Acts 19:2-6; Mark 16:17; Acts 2:4

The Apostles spoke in tongues so they could spread the faith. They spoke and many understood them in their own language. Read the Book of Acts of the Apostles. They understood what the Apostles were saying. This gift helps the church. These peoples are just babbling. No one understands what is being said, so it benefits no one, as far as I can see.

Maybe this is how language came about in the first place. The "Crazy" part is probably the same "Crazy" that led us H. sapiens to explore and spread where the H. naenderthalensis had failed. this is the same as the urge and willingness to go out of one's comfort zone, to take a risk, and to plunge into the unknown.

Crash course for the unbeliever. There's three kinds of tongues . 1-tongues were ur spirit engages in worship to God. 2- Tongues used for the prophetic. 3- And tongues for evangelizing ( f ex: u speak Chinese with someone without ever learning.) The three kinds can be interpreted. That's why the Bible tells us to pray for interpretation.

The word tongues simply means languages in old english. Speaking in tongues is a gift given by God with a purpose, just like the rest. What is the purpose? To propagate the gospel all around the world. So if i go to Japan i can speak 'the wonderful things of God' in a language they understand. In a language i did not learn how to speak. God gives the ability. How can you do that if language is a barrier? The gift of tongues undos the language separation God gave in the tower of Babel. Tongues is meant to connect the world. Important to mention there is also interpretation of tongues. I can speak in English and someone hears me in German. The day of Pentecost had both gifts active. It is a gift to convince unbelievers, like in Acts 2. Not to convince people in the church.

Speaking in tongues in the bible means speaking in another language native to that country. It doesn't mean speaking gibberish like in this video. If you read Acts 2, it clearly says it is a language (like today's languages are English, Spanish, French, German, etc.) 4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5: And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6: Now when this was noises abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7: And they were amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8: And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9: Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and on Judaea, and Capadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10: Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya..
