I feel like women should have more of say than men do when it comes to putting their kids up for adoption. Women are the ones had to carry the baby in their body for 9 months. When it comes to creating a baby, men only contribute a few chromosomes. Women pretty much do all of the work when it comes to creating a baby, and the child gets nearly all of its DNA from the mother. The child barely gets any of the father's DNA. You get more DNA from your mother than your father. Also, your mom not only gave you more DNA (you’ve got her mitochondrial DNA too), but also provided you with every molecule that made up your body until birth. @@sammysuave558 The father is not fifty percent responsible for the birth of the baby. He only contributes a little DNA (since the Y chromosome is shorter than the X) and nothing else to the development or birth of the baby. The mother contributes a lot more DNA than the father does. The pregnant woman supplies the container, growth medium, blood, oxygen, nutrients, proteins, calcium, waste disposal and everything else required to build the baby, molecule by molecule, cell by cell, organ by organ. I don’t see the father having to give up alcohol, endure 3 months of nausea, vomiting and exhaustion, watch what he eats, attend multiple medical appointments where he is poked, prodded, weighed, examined and scanned, watch as his body stretches and changes unrecognizably and in some ways permanently, grow to be extremely uncomfortable and unwieldy, labor agonizingly for 12-48 hours, or be cut open, or experience the excruciating tearing of tissue in order for the baby to be born. And that is just a normal pregnancy, let alone facing all the considerable potential health risks involved, many life-threatening. How many men do you know who are 100% financially responsible for their children? In this day and age, it is almost impossible for a family to survive on only one income, so in addition to all the labor of building and birthing and feeding the baby, the mother usually works outside the home, too. As for divorced fathers, 25% report paying child support only “some of the time” or “not at all.” Meanwhile, of the average monthly cost of raising a child of $1,334 per month, the median child support men pay is $354 per month.

I agree. No baby should be allowed to be adopted unless there is consent by both father and mother (except in the cases where the mother was raped by someone). The other thing is that, yes, the fathers' rights were violated BUT as we saw with Jessica Deboer, yanking a child out from the only parents (adoptive) they have ever known is CRUEL -- beyond CRUEL. Still, the father does have a right to know and spend time with that child but I'm also against yanking that child out of a home they love. Jessica DeBoer is a very troubled young woman now -- I can't help thinking she shutdown when she was yanked from the Deboers and handed over to her bio father (who had married her mother). It's not the child's fault the law FAILED the father -- because the child NEVER should have been allowed to be adopted without his consent.

@Dan5819 You start out for the first two months with father visiting the child for two hours every second day, and then three hours every second day. Then five hours each on Saturday, Sunday and one other day of the week. By six months the child should be having full weekends with the father and a visit on one other day of the week. By one year the child should be able to have a full week at a time and then two weeks at a time. This would be a non Traumatic way for the father to be able to establish and raise his child. The adoptive parents sharing the parenting would be ideal.

No, they leave the mothers. Leaving the mother is not abandoning the child, as you see above women and courts see children as property of the mother....and usually NEVER give fair visitation rights. Also many "mothers" kill their children after birth more than fathers yet we never seem to harp on that. Men have been fighting this for years, its not new. Its a Men's Rights issue that's looked over because people feel men shouldn't have them. Women who don't want kids, but against abortion do this often. Between this and paternity fraud its the unfair visitation that has more and more men getting vasectomies, due to misandry.

As a licensed Social Worker in NYC for decades, I was a former CPS and a foster care worker and supervisor. The agency must terminate the rights of BOTH parents for Adoption. The agency and courts messed up this time. If they had a name, they should’ve investigated him and his family FIRST for potential placement with Dad or his family. That’s what is typically required. I have participated in several TPR trials and Foster Care Adoptions.

Not in Florida and not in many states. They weren't married and he didn't sign the birth certificate so he has little rights. The state has a list where men can put their names if they believe or fear that a child of theirs could be put up for adoption. That is all they have to check.

@@MoonLady-d5w If your child is involved with a state agency, of which adoption agencies are typically considered part of by proxy, then you may have to be able to prove that you are fit to have that child to get them once they have left the custody of the other parent. It's like when a kid is taken from their mom by CPS, the dad has to submit for background checks to make sure that he doesn't have any current warrants or pending charges and that they are not on an offender registry somewhere.
@yakopanen65968 ай бұрын
Yea if this guy didn't have any previous outstanding legal issues or criminal records, there's 0 reason for his background to be checked. Obviously the mother is unstable and can't seem to tell the truth, so at least she's not attempting to keep custody. If the father never gets custody, chances are this girl will not find out about her real parents until at least the age of 10, around a teenager is when most adoptive parents break the bandaid off or kids find out on there own.
