It’s because the Judge didn’t allow the the defence to present their full case in the second trial. So many of the witnesses were not allowed to testify, including family and experts that evaluated the brothers, as well as the other corroborating evidence such as the nude photos, medical records, etc. this is because the judge was biased and wanted a conviction for the brothers. The fact that OJ Simpson had just gone free made the public very angry with the ‘justice system’ so the judge needed a conviction to look good. It’s horrible
@cinnxmxnslayer7 күн бұрын
That's because the judge, who was the same judge from the first trial, ruled he wouldn't accept the abuse as part of the defense. After OJ walking free, they wanted to hang the brothers to show strength.
@calvthomas61537 күн бұрын
Right. The aunt's testimony used in the first trial was not allowed in the second trial either. She confirmed two things with her testimony. 1) she was told by one of the brothers at 8yr's old, that he was being touched. 2) That she took him to his mother to report what she had been told, and the mother wouldn't accept it seeming like she already knew. This had the potential to allow them to be charged with Manslaughter at the very least. But without that information being relayed to the jury it was either murder or nothing. The jury went with the straight murder charge because they did commit murder.

What people need to realise, these corrupt acts the parents inflicted on them was wayyy more taboo back then. The phrasing during the trials tells you this much: 'sex with your father' rather than 'raped/molested by your parents'. Even if they had come out and confessed, they would have not been believed and reduced to a laughing stock. Erik probably would have taken his life, and the whole thing could have unfolded much differently. Even after all these years, their stories have remained consistent, family members even testified- and it still wasn't enough because back then the societal view of things such as rape and molestation involving men were not topics of discussion-it was avoided like the plague.

4:45 “Stone cold killers” usually kill with no reason nor emotion. Nobody is justifying the murder not even Lyle and Eric themselves. It’s a fact they killed their parents but the abuse did happen. Their brains are 100% psychologically affected. If half these law professionals had the decency to understand the brain and trauma, they’d be able to distinguish true cold stone killers and people possible of rehabilitation. These boys are also victims and Society failed to see that, they deserved not only a fair conviction but help as well. It’s been 35 years of healing, reflection and pain. It’s time we see them free.

It’s disgusting that society believed then and to a lesser extent still believes that boys and men do not and cannot go through SA. My first hospitalization, I was waiting for a transfer when two nurses brought in a strong, 6’3” man under some kind of sedative that they’d just jabbed into him. Here are some things that still stand out. These young men, not boys had family, money and cars they could have left and got a job and took their parents to court. If the abuse was so bad why stay? 18 and 20 year old planned this murder, then blamed the mafia. Then Lyle molested his own brother. Lyle should not get out of prison. Eric I'm not sure, of course the abuse was wrong! But they had a away out and never took it. How many kids in this world are being abused and have no way out. For me it's not so much whether they were justified in the killings, but the fact they did NOT receive a fair 2nd trial, the judge acted with blatant bias, and the media helped make them infamous thereby poisoning any chance of an untainted jury. Everyone deserves a fair trial, and it didn't happen.
@TheRoyalNewspaper4 күн бұрын
Exactly. I don't care about TikTok or the people thirsting after them. Bottom line is, the 2nd trial was handled very poorly. That alone should get them another trial or resentencing. They seem very confident for two people who were abused and raped... both Menendez are arrogant, in interviews they seem to have attitude, they are extremely confident of themselves. To me this does not seem like the profile of two people who suffered so much abuse. I do not believe them, people use the argument of their defense to prove a non-existent narrative. There is no evidence of abuse... the letter could have easily been fabricated. All the testimonies are empty, no one can prove that they are telling the truth. The Menendez brothers have a criminal record, even before the murders. The former member of Menudo only mentioned Jose Menendez last year, after the case went viral on TikTok.
