Prince & The Revolution were and still are the biggest musical influence in my life. Wendy & Lisa made it cool "for a girl" to play instruments in my hood. Prince was the ultimate performer and he will always be missed...

wendileona I used to go to Glam Slam all the time back then!! Lived a few blocks from Paisley Park Studio. Would drive under the Graffiti Bridge going to work at a music store in the Eden Prairie Center. Later I had a job where I would drive past Paisley Park Studio every day. I would always wonder if he was there jammin out when I was passing by. Went to MN to visit family after he had passed away. Got there around 3am drove right to the studio. Seeing the security guards and all the flowers, poems and things that people put around the fence made his death become so very real. I just parked my car by the studio and cried. It is still so very hard to believe that he is gone.

This female host from ABC needs to have her own talk show. Out freaking standing job combining compassion, laughter, and keeping the interviewees interesting on topic. I was hooked every second. This is the way talk shows used to and should be again.

Dez Dickersen who was the first guitarist for the Revolution once described his auditioning process. He and the other hopefulls had already arranged that since he had a gig to play with another band that same evening he should go first. Prince, Andre Cymone and Bobby Z arrived two hours late, no explanation, no apologies, not a single word. They got on stage, Bobby behind the drums, Andre on bass and Prince on the keys and started to lay down a really slow but extremely tight groove and Dez just joined in played what made sense and after a nod from Prince did a solo Before excusing himself reminding them that he had a show to play. So that's when the very first words came from Prince and he told him he'd walk him out. Prince asked Dez questions: where did he see himself in five years, what kind of stage experience did he have, in hindsight, Dez realized that Prince was asking him all this because he wanted to know how he would handle touring, if he was down with Prince's driven musicality. Dez became a Revolutionary but he wasn't aware of it yet.

Lisa is a Lesbian but she was romantically involved with Prince when she lived with him for 2 years. Just listen to Prince unreleased song "Lisa"
@Nanciverse
@Nanciverse 4 жыл бұрын
She was NEVER romantically involved with Prince, their relationship was purely platonic and she has stated countless time that they were brother and sister. She was renting his upstairs room and has stated that the song Lisa is NOT about her, that he was dating a girl also called Lisa at the time. Lisa had started dating Wendy around the time she joined Prince and is a full blown lesbian. I'm sick.of reading this BS rumor repeated as fact.

I have to point out Dr. Fink here, the scrubs he wears is from the "Sign o the times" era when Prince formed the first incarnation of the NPG. Dr. was the only one who played both in the Revolution and the NPG. Wendy said in another interview that the "Parade" tour felt weird to do since Prince brought in this expanded band but what he actually was doing was road testing that first NPG line up for "Sign o the times" he apparently already knew that the Revolution would be broken up and he wanted to make sure that the NPG could handle the road.

I love the Revolution, and I am.certainly not dissing them, however I dont think they were his best band. Every time I have seen a poll on who is his best drummer or keyboardist, bassist - whatever - RARELY does anyone cite athe musicians from the Revolution, including me. I have been thru the Revolution up to now and for me Renato Neto was best piano, Rhonda Smith best bass and Michael B and John Blackwell on drugs, yes, even over Sheila. But they were a family, and I love thry are together. Wendy said it here, "we knew we were better together as a band than separate ". Exactly. Bobby Z said on another interview that Prince never liked to look back, which is why the Revolution needed to change. I love these interviews, and I really do love these folks. 💜💜💜💜💜

Wow! What a great interview and finally done by someone who is clearly a fan who actually KNEW a song besides LRC was so refreshing - and they weren't RUSHED! I can't believe it - what great stories too I always thought it was Morris doing both voices on 'Chili Sauce' because they both did a version of that character sort of - and now I have to listen again - DAMN Prince was funny. You know at one show he stopped the band and said, 'TURN THE HOUSE LIGHTS UP!' and suddenly all the bright lights were on and he points to some people and he says, 'WHAT ARE Y'ALL DOIN', EATING CHICKEN WINGS? OH SO IT'S THAT KINDA PARTY!' and went right back into the song it was so freaking funny the place literally EXPLODED

I remember when the movie Purple Rain came out., it had such an enormous impact on fans and artists of all genres of music. Some of my best friends were die-hard heavy metal and nothing else. And they were blown away by him. He couldn’t be defined any one genre. He was influenced by several different ones and created his own.
