lets really be honest here. Christians used to excommunicate you if you left Christianity. Your personal safety was basically forfeit at that point. Definitely very culty behavior. Muslims have it technically even worse. There was the death penalty if you openly left Islam and of course the associated excommunication. Your personal safety well ... none to speak off that is. These mainstream religions ARE cults. That's why they grew so big and strong. Not through peace but through power did they grow strong. Large swaths of peoples in europe were force-converted by the sword to Christianity, definitely not a peaceful way. Lots of people in the middle-east were conquered by Muslims on Jihad and forced to live as second class citizens or sell out their faith for a better life. Not really a peaceful way to convert either now is it? There's no peace in these religions. Just tyranny, hatred, destruction and deception.

I worry thanks to this. I've lost my faith a long time ago because I knew too much to believe in something demonstrably fallacious. But I couldn't come out right telling everyone that I'm an apostate. My friends know. And so does a few cousins...but for now my family just thinks I don't pray much but I'm still Muslim. I'm genuinely scared of the repercussions of coming out with my apostasy. A grown ass 24 year old man sitting at a KZbin video whining about his circumstances coz he's scared his family would disown him the moment they found out. You have my sympathy Abdullah. When people betray trust it shows a lack of integrity. I'm glad other Muslims called him out on it. To go on and tell lies, and believe your faith requires you to do this, shows both personal and religious shortcomings. I've had a little exchange with Farid. He did a reaction video to AP over Aisha's age at marriage. Basically he said the marriage was ok because some American states allowed marriage under 18, so there was nothing wrong with Muhammad marrying a 9 year old. When I criticised this he turned personal on me, accused me of having a meltdown, and asked why anyone should care about my opinion. I told him he was just avoiding the points I raised, and repeated them. He stopped responding. So I don't have a very high opinion of Farid either. He attacks the character of the critic rather than responding to points of argument. It doesn't surprise me that he would use supposedly confidential information about you to try to discredit you rather than answering the criticisms you've raised about Islam. One thing I will say is that he didn't delete my comments. My comments have been deleted numerous times on Muslim channels, and it seems to be especially when I quote from the ahadith or the Qur'an to show a point I am making is correct. But anyway, your situation is more important. I guess it's not just you. People like your friend and Farid hate you because you have an audience, and they are afraid of the effect you can have on doubting Muslims. As your ex-friend said, you should be anonymous, or not go public, and then they don't mind that you're ex-Muslim. In a sense they are right - your sane and rational criticism does affect people, and you are helping many to think for themselves, and to feel ok about doubting, and perhaps ok about leaving Islam. I am a big supporter of the work you do, and of the wider ex-Muslim community. There are problems with all the Abrahamic faiths, and I do criticise them all on occasion. However, Islam seems to be the one requiring attention, at least at the moment. So best wishes and keep up the work.

I had a "friend" tell me to befriend one of my old friends after i had cut him off bcz he was so upset. He told me "just talk to him, just talk him" at that time i held my ground and kept saying no.

What a coincidence. Currently in Indonesia, there is a christian preacher who converted to Islam 11 years ago. He is the member of dawah team and going around indonesia to convert christian to Islam. Few days ago, this guy reverted to Christianity. His dawah team (aya sofya mualaf center) suddently go nuts. Slandering him of various crime (sexual assault and harrasment, unpayed debt, etc etc). Lets say all of their accusation is true. Than why didnt the dawah team reported his crimes when he was still a muslim? Why now?

I hope they don’t take this to the next level and physically attack you or your family. Seems like because they can’t refute what you are saying with arguments or logic, they will get desperate and resort to really underhanded means to silence you.
