This is the place where Abhimanyu was trapped in the Chakravyuh made by Dronacharya. He was alone inside that huge military formation and fought with courage with wounds. The well known warriors of Kauravas could not win over him and they violated all the rules of the war and killed him by cheating.
Abhimanyupur is 11 kms away from Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra. One can hire auto or can go through local bus service to Abhimanyupur. It's a small village and most of the villagers are farmers.
There is a park under construction by Kurukshetra development Board with an 18 feet statue of Abhimanyu with a chariot wheel in his hands. The actual place of Chakravyuh is now a residential area and many Maurya period constructions can be seen still in courtyards of houses between mud.
There is a temple dedicated to Aditi, the mother of Devas and Lord Shiva in Abhimanyurpur. Devmata Aditi did great penance to help her children in the battle with Asuras. Sun himself took birth as Marthanda in the womb of Aditi and he won over the Asuras and took the Devaloka kingdom from the demons and gave to devas. There is a pond which is known as Suryakund where Suryadev took birth.
